To disable Easy Anti-Cheat (EAC) on a 7 Days to Die dedicated server, stop the server, edit the serverconfig.xml file that the server actually loads, set EACEnabled to false, save the file, and restart. The setting is server-side, but PC players may also have to start the game with the launcher’s no-EAC option. Official console crossplay requires EAC enabled, so an EAC-off server should be treated as a PC-only, non-crossplay server unless the game’s requirements change.

Quick procedure
- Stop the dedicated server. Editing while the process is running can allow it to rewrite the file or overwrite your change when it shuts down.
- Locate the effective configuration file. Open the
serverconfig.xmlused by the startup command. If the command contains-configfile=custom.xml, edit that custom file instead of the default file. A hosting panel may present the same property in a web editor. - Change the EAC property. Set the complete XML element to
<property name="EACEnabled" value="false"/>. - Save the file and restart the server. EAC is read during startup; changing the file without restarting does not apply the new value.
- Launch clients without EAC when required. PC players may need the game launcher’s no-EAC option before connecting.
The V3.2.0 settings reference lists EACEnabled with a default of true and defines it as the switch that enables or disables Easy Anti-Cheat. If the server still reports EAC as active after these steps, check for a launch-argument or hosting-panel override before changing anything else.

What the EAC setting controls
EACEnabled is a server configuration property, not a per-world gameplay slider. A value of true requests normal Easy Anti-Cheat operation; false tells the dedicated server to run without EAC enforcement. The XML must use the exact property name and a lowercase Boolean value as shown above. Keep the element inside the configuration file’s existing property list and do not add a second element with the same name.
Because the default is true, a missing element, a misspelled name, malformed XML, or an edit to an unused file can leave EAC enabled. Treat the file loaded at startup as the source of truth rather than whichever copy happens to be easiest to find.

Prepare the server before editing
Stop the process cleanly
Use the server console, service manager, control panel, or stop button supplied by your setup. Wait until the process has exited before opening the XML. If you cannot stop it immediately, at least ensure that no automated restart or configuration synchronization is running while you save the file. A running process or panel may write its in-memory settings back over your edit.
Make a reversible backup
Copy the current configuration to a clearly named backup before changing it. Include the date and whether EAC was enabled, for example serverconfig-before-eac-off.xml. Back up the world separately if your normal server-maintenance routine does so; changing EAC does not itself alter the world, but a good configuration backup makes it easy to undo an unsuccessful change.
Identify the file the server really loads
Look at the command, service definition, batch file, or panel startup field that launches the dedicated server. A command containing -configfile=custom.xml directs the server to that named file. In that case, changing a default serverconfig.xml has no effect. Some panels show a friendly “EAC” field while writing an XML file behind the scenes; others append a command-line argument. Record both the file name and any launch arguments before you edit.
Disable EAC in a self-hosted server
- Stop the server and wait for its process to close.
- Open the effective XML file in a text editor that preserves plain text and UTF-8 formatting. Do not use a word processor that inserts rich-text markup.
- Search for
EACEnabled. If it already exists, change only itsvalueattribute tofalse. - If the property is absent, add
<property name="EACEnabled" value="false"/>in the same property list as the other server settings. Preserve the surrounding XML structure. - Check that the opening and closing tags remain balanced and that the line contains ordinary quotation marks, not typographic “smart” quotes.
- Save the file, then restart the dedicated server using the same command or service definition you inspected earlier.
- Read the startup output or status page. If it still indicates EAC is enabled, stop again and proceed to the override checks below instead of repeatedly editing the same line.
Do not place the property in a client configuration file, a world save, or a similarly named template that the startup command does not reference. The setting only takes effect in the server configuration consumed at launch.

Disable EAC on a managed host
Managed hosts commonly expose an EAC selector in a web configuration editor. Host Havoc’s documentation is an example of that pattern, but panel labels and behavior vary by provider and game version. Open the server’s configuration page, set the EAC option to disabled, apply or save the change, and perform a full server restart rather than only reconnecting a player.
After saving, verify what the panel actually changed. Some panels write EACEnabled=false to the effective XML; others generate a startup argument or maintain a template that is reapplied on every restart. If the setting returns to enabled, compare the panel’s generated command and file with the values you edited. Check whether a scheduled task, deployment action, or “reset to defaults” control is restoring the default true.

Why EAC can remain enabled

A Steam troubleshooting report documents a provider enabling EAC from the command line even after the XML value was changed. That is why checking both the loaded file and launch arguments matters: a command-line or panel override can win over the edit you made by hand.

Client launch requirements
Server configuration and client launch mode are separate decisions. The Fun Pimps community forum describes the split this way: “Singleplayer: Start with EAC off (using the game launcher) Server: Change this in serverconfig.xml”. For a non-EAC dedicated server, PC players may therefore need to select the launcher’s no-EAC start option as well as joining a server whose EACEnabled value is false.
Launcher wording can change between game builds. Look for an option explicitly indicating that Easy Anti-Cheat will not be started; do not assume that a generic offline or troubleshooting mode has the same effect. There is no single universal client command established by the available guidance, so avoid distributing an unverified command-line switch to players. Give everyone the exact option name displayed by the launcher installed on their machine.

Crossplay: what disabling EAC changes
Official cross-platform help requires both ServerAllowCrossplay=true and EACEnabled=true for a console-compatible crossplay server. Consequently, an EAC-disabled server should be treated as a non-crossplay PC server. Do not promise that console players can join simply because the crossplay property remains set to true; the EAC requirement is separate and mandatory in the stated configuration.

If your community needs console participation, leave EAC enabled and troubleshoot the original connection problem instead of switching it off. If the server is intentionally PC-only, document that decision in the server name or welcome message so players do not spend time trying to join from an unsupported platform. Requirements may change in a later game build, so recheck the current official help guidance before changing a crossplay policy.

Self-hosting is preferable when you need to inspect every argument and file. A managed service can be simpler when its editor writes the effective setting and provides reliable restarts, but you must verify that it does not re-enable EAC during deployment.
Operational trade-offs of running without EAC
Disabling EAC removes the server’s Easy Anti-Cheat enforcement. Use it only for a community that understands the policy and can moderate players through trusted access, an allowlist, or active administration. The configuration change does not provide a replacement detection system, and it does not make a client that was launched with EAC automatically compatible.
Write the policy down before opening the server: state that EAC is disabled, identify who can join, explain how suspected cheating is reported, and specify who can remove a player. Keep administrative permissions limited and retain ordinary server logs. These measures do not recreate EAC; they simply make the operational consequences explicit.
How to turn EAC back on
- Stop the server.
- Open the same effective XML file used for the disabled configuration.
- Change the property to
<property name="EACEnabled" value="true"/>, or use the managed panel’s enabled setting if that panel controls the file. - Remove any no-EAC launch override that was added to the server command.
- Save, restart, and have PC players launch the normal EAC-enabled game mode.
If crossplay is required, also verify that ServerAllowCrossplay=true is present in the effective configuration. Both settings must meet the official crossplay requirement; enabling only one does not make the server console-compatible.
Version and maintenance notes
The V3.2.0 settings reference is the current reference identified for the EACEnabled property in the available guidance. Configuration names and launcher labels can change, so compare your installed build’s generated configuration and official help text before applying an old tutorial. Preserve unrelated properties when editing and recheck the value after major updates, migrations, or panel reinstalls.
When diagnosing a future failure, capture three items before changing them: the exact startup command, the complete effective EAC line, and the first startup messages that mention anti-cheat or configuration loading. Those details distinguish a wrong-file problem from an override, a client-launch mismatch, or invalid XML.
