To stop optional resources from downloading automatically in Call of Duty: Mobile, open the down-arrow Download Manager in the main lobby and check its settings. Depending on your game build, look for Stop Downloading All Resources or turn Auto Download off; enable Ask Before Downloading if that option appears. These labels are reported by a secondary walkthrough, not confirmed in Activision’s published instructions, so they may differ by version or region.
Turn off automatic resource downloads
- Open the Download Manager. From the main lobby, tap the down-arrow icon near the bottom of the screen. Activision identifies this as the Android route to the manager in its version 35.0 update notes.
- Find the download controls. Open the manager’s settings or automatic-download options. A walkthrough checked August 25, 2026, reports that some builds may show Stop Downloading All Resources, Auto Download, and Ask Before Downloading (Tech How’s walkthrough).
- Disable automatic downloads or require a prompt. Turn off Auto Download or enable Stop Downloading All Resources, if shown. Turn on Ask Before Downloading if you want the game to ask before fetching optional resources.
- Review the queue. Return to the Download Manager and check what is downloading. Keep files for the maps, modes, and other content you use; if the game says a selected map or mode needs a missing file, download that specific resource manually.
What turning off auto-downloads does—and does not do
The setting concerns optional in-game resources, not every download the game may need. Call of Duty: Mobile’s App Store listing describes selectable extras such as HD resources, maps, weapons, and operators. Activision’s update notes also make clear that some content must be downloaded before it can be used.

For example, Activision’s version 35.0 notes, dated December 8, 2025, said Android players had to download the Isolated Battle Royale map and HD audio through the manager. Isolated could not be played until its download finished; audio quality remained lower until the HD audio file was downloaded. In that specific update, Activision said those items were included in the iOS base app. This is version-specific behavior, not a permanent rule for every platform update.

If you cannot find the setting
- Open the Download Manager and inspect its current settings; the control names can vary between builds.
- If the game requests a specific missing map or resource, download that file from the manager so the selected content can work.
- For in-game help, tap the question-mark icon in the main lobby and choose a help category. Activision documents this route in its troubleshooting guidance.
Changing phone-level background-data permissions or app-store download settings is not established as a fix for COD Mobile’s in-game optional resource downloads. If the problem is a broader installation, connection, or storage issue, use the in-game help route or Activision’s troubleshooting guidance.

Activision reported approximate app sizes of 1.6 GB for Android and 3.3 GB for iOS after the version 35.0 optimization update in December 2025. Those dated figures are not a current estimate of the complete installed game, and they do not show how much space an individual player will save by disabling auto-downloads.
