There is no single switch that removes every Samsung advertisement. For the biggest reduction, turn off Customization Service marketing in your Samsung Account, then disable promotional notification categories in the app that sent each alert. Galaxy Store and Samsung News have their own controls, and Samsung warns that some ads can continue through other services.
The safest approach is to identify each promotion’s source and make the narrowest change available. That lets you stop offers and recommendations without accidentally hiding security warnings, purchase confirmations, software updates, or account alerts.

What you can turn off—and what you cannot
Galaxy phones treat several different things as “ads.” A personalized advertisement is controlled at the Samsung Account or service level. A banner or push alert is controlled by the app that sent it. Samsung News alerts are controlled inside Samsung News, while the News or Discover panel on the Home screen is a separate panel setting.

Samsung’s Customization Service terms state: “Please note that disabling this option may not stop all of the Ads (including customized Ads) provided by Samsung.” Other Samsung services may have their own marketing permissions, and advertising shown by a third-party app or website is outside Samsung’s notification settings.

First identify the source of the alert
Do not start by disabling every notification. Find the app name shown on the unwanted alert. That lets you mute marketing while preserving calls, messages, security warnings, updates, or order information.

- Swipe down from the top of the screen to open the notification panel.
- Read the app name and the notification text on the promotional alert.
- To inspect alerts you already dismissed, open Settings > Notifications and look under recently sent notifications. On some Galaxy software versions, tap More or See all to expand the list.
- Note whether the alert came from Galaxy Store, Samsung News, Samsung Members, a theme or content app, or another installed app. Each source can expose different categories.
If an alert is currently visible, press and hold it. Samsung’s notification controls normally open a menu where you can turn off notifications for that app or jump directly to its notification settings. Choose the category-level option when it is available; it is less disruptive than blocking the entire app.
Some promotions look like system messages because they use Samsung’s design or appear on the lock screen. Check the small app icon and sender name rather than assuming the operating system itself generated them. If the same offer appears again after you change one app, treat it as a separate source and inspect its sender.

Turn off Samsung’s customized advertising
This setting reduces the use of Customization Service information for personalized ads and direct marketing. It does not promise to remove every Samsung advertisement.
Common Samsung Account path
- Open Settings.
- Tap your Samsung Account name or profile at the top of Settings.
- Open Privacy.
- Tap Customization Service.
- Turn off Customization Service, or turn off the control labeled Customized ads and direct marketing.
Samsung uses different wording across regions and software releases. You may instead see Advertisement Using Customization Service, with a route such as Privacy > Customization Service > Manage all devices. If the labels above are absent, use the Settings search field for Customization Service, customized ads, direct marketing, or advertising.
What changes after you disable it
Samsung should no longer use the Customization Service setting you changed to tailor direct-marketing messages to you. The change is account or service specific: it is not the same as disabling every notification, and it does not control advertisements delivered by unrelated apps, browsers, websites, or services with separate consent settings.
Samsung also distinguishes this control from the device’s advertising identifier. A privacy setting for an Advertising ID, when present on your model and software version, is separate from Customization Service. Changing one does not automatically change the other, so review both descriptions before deciding what to disable. A change to the identifier may affect ad personalization generally, but it does not replace turning off notifications from an app that is already sending offers.

If you use more than one Galaxy device with the same Samsung Account, look for a “manage all devices” choice and verify which devices the preference covers. A setting changed for one phone may not alter notification permissions on another phone; notification switches remain device- and app-specific.
Mute the app that sent a promotional notification
Most unwanted promotions are best handled at their source. Use one of these routes, depending on whether you want to block everything or only marketing.
From an alert that just arrived
- Press and hold the promotional notification.
- Tap Turn off notifications, Notification settings, or a similarly named control.
- If a list of categories appears, switch off the category that describes promotions, offers, recommendations, or marketing.
- Leave categories for security, account activity, downloads, or service status enabled if you still need them.
- Tap Done or back out of Settings to save the change.
The exact buttons depend on your One UI release. If long-pressing does not show category controls, use the full Settings route below.
Through Notifications settings
- Open Settings > Notifications.
- Tap App notifications, or choose the app under Recently sent.
- Select the app that produced the promotion.
- Turn off individual categories where available. To suppress every alert from that app, turn off its main Allow notifications switch.
Another common route is Settings > Apps > [app name] > Notifications. Samsung notes that the available switches depend on the device, app, and software version. An app may expose only one master switch, while another may divide alerts into several categories.
Choose the narrowest useful block
- Use a category switch when you want promotions gone but still need operational alerts.
- Use the master switch when the app is not useful to you or every alert is unwanted.
- Keep sound or vibration changes separate if you want to see a message silently rather than lose it entirely. Category pages may offer sound, vibration, pop-up, lock-screen, and badge controls.
- Review the app’s own account settings when the category is combined. Some apps let you opt out of marketing inside their profile or notification preferences while retaining service messages.
Stop Galaxy Store promotional notifications
Galaxy Store has category-level controls, but Samsung hides them behind an additional Notifications setting on current Galaxy software. Samsung describes Galaxy Store push notifications as updates to Samsung services, useful tips, and promotional events.
- Open Settings > Notifications > Advanced settings.
- Enable Manage notification categories for each app. Without this switch, category controls may not appear.
- Open Galaxy Store.
- Tap Menu, then Settings > Notifications > Notification categories.
- Turn off the promotional, offer, recommendation, or event categories you do not want.
- Leave update or account categories enabled if you rely on Galaxy Store for app maintenance.
Samsung says Important updates cannot be disabled. If that category remains on, it is an intentional exception rather than a failed setting. Category names can vary by country, app version, and Galaxy model.

If you do not see “Notification categories,” return to the Advanced settings page and confirm that Manage notification categories for each app is enabled. Then close and reopen Galaxy Store. If the categories are still unavailable, use Galaxy Store’s own notification page or the app’s master notification switch, understanding that the latter may also suppress useful update notices.
Manage Samsung News alerts and the Home-screen panel
Samsung News uses its own notification preferences. Muting the app through the general app switch may block every News alert, but the in-app controls let you choose among available notification types.

- Open Samsung News.
- Tap More options (the three-dot menu).
- Choose Settings > Notifications.
- Turn off the types of news alerts you do not want, or disable all Samsung News notifications if you prefer.
The News or Discover panel displayed when you swipe across the Home screen is separate from alerts. To remove that panel, press and hold an empty area of the Home screen, swipe to the farthest page, and use the switch at the top of the page. This changes the Home-screen panel, not notifications from other apps.
Removing the panel does not unsubscribe you from Samsung News notifications, and turning off News notifications does not necessarily remove the panel. Treat them as two independent settings and change both if you want neither the alerts nor the swipe-over page.
Keep useful alerts while removing marketing
Aggressive blocking can hide information you still need. Before switching off an entire app, check which categories it offers and classify them.

Some apps combine marketing and service information in one category. In that case, disabling the category may remove both. If the app offers an account-level marketing preference, use it before disabling all notifications.

Do not confuse notification delivery with visual prominence. A category can remain enabled while you turn off its sound, vibration, pop-up, lock-screen display, or badge. That is useful when you want a record in the notification shade but do not want an interruption.

Another Samsung service is responsible
Customization Service is not a universal Samsung advertising switch. Samsung says other services can have separate controls, and ads may continue where you have consented to those services. Identify the app or service name on the message and change its own notification or privacy setting.
The message is from a third-party app or website
A browser website, game, shopping app, or free utility can show its own ads. Samsung’s Customization Service setting cannot block those ads. Disable the source app’s promotional category, revoke the website’s notification permission in the browser, or change that app’s own marketing preference.
You are seeing an in-app banner, not a notification
Notification settings affect messages delivered to the notification shade, lock screen, or status area. An advertisement displayed inside an app remains controlled by that app, its account settings, or its paid version. Turning off push notifications will not remove an in-app banner.

The menu does not match these instructions
Samsung’s support pages note that labels and available options vary by model, One UI release, app version, and region. Search Settings for the app name, notifications, or Customization Service. You can also open Settings > Apps, select the suspected app, and look for Notifications there.
A category switch is missing
Some apps provide only a master notification switch. Galaxy Store category controls may also be hidden until Manage notification categories for each app is enabled under Settings > Notifications > Advanced settings. If the category still does not appear, update the app or use its internal notification and marketing settings.
You disabled customization but still see personalized-looking offers
Disabling Customization Service limits that particular use of Samsung information; it does not prove that every offer is generic or that every Samsung service shares the same control. Check the sender, then review the relevant app’s categories and any separate marketing consent shown in that app.
A practical order that minimizes side effects
- Disable Samsung Account Customization Service marketing so personalization is reduced at the account level.
- Wait for or locate the next unwanted alert and identify its sending app.
- Mute only that app’s promotional category, rather than every category.
- Apply the dedicated Galaxy Store procedure if Galaxy Store is the source.
- Apply Samsung News settings if the alert is news content, and separately remove the Home-screen panel if it is also unwanted.
- Review any remaining source apps one at a time. Avoid turning off system-wide notifications unless you accept losing useful alerts.
Verify the result
- Return to Settings > Notifications and confirm the app’s promotional category is off.
- Open Galaxy Store’s Notification categories page and check the categories you changed.
- Revisit Samsung Account > Privacy > Customization Service to confirm the marketing control remains disabled.
- Check Samsung News separately if news alerts continue.
- When another promotion appears, read its app name before changing anything; it may be a different source.
These steps target personalization and promotional push alerts without requiring a new app, a phone purchase, or a system modification. Because Samsung services and menu labels change by release and region, the app-specific approach is the most reliable way to remove a particular alert while preserving notifications that matter.
