Then connect OBS to a stream created in YouTube Studio, check the preview, and start the broadcast. The loop handles playback; YouTube Studio handles the live destination. A stream intended to run 24/7 still needs rights clearance, ongoing monitoring, and a plan for YouTube’s archive limits.
Before you start: confirm rights and channel eligibility
Clear every part of the campaign video
Use final, approved local files, and confirm you have the rights to livestream and archive all footage, logos, music, voiceovers, stock elements, and other material in each video. A brand’s ownership of the finished campaign video—or permission to use a song in a different context—does not automatically establish streaming and archive rights for every component.

YouTube’s livestream terms require the provider to hold the necessary rights, including music licensing rights: YouTube livestream terms. YouTube scans live streams for third-party content matches and may interrupt or terminate a broadcast. Even if you have a license, the rights holder may need to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist: YouTube’s guidance on live-stream copyright.
Check whether the channel can go live
YouTube’s current live-stream guidance says the channel must be verified and have had no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. Check the channel’s eligibility in YouTube Studio before building the event around a live broadcast: Get started with live streaming.

Build the repeating video in OBS
For one campaign clip: use Media Source
- Open OBS and create or select the scene you want to use for the broadcast.
- In the Sources panel, select + and add a Media Source.
- Choose the local video file. OBS supports common formats including MP4, TS, MOV, FLV, MKV, AVI, GIF, and WebM.
- In the Media Source properties, enable Loop, then confirm the settings.
- Check the scene preview and listen to the clip, including its ending and the transition back to the beginning.
OBS’s Media Sources guide documents the loop setting. It repeats local playback; it does not connect OBS to YouTube, grant content rights, or guarantee a seamless transition.
For several clips: use a VLC Video playlist
- Install VLC before adding the source. OBS requires VLC for its VLC Video source; 64-bit OBS requires 64-bit VLC.
- In OBS, select + in the Sources panel and add a VLC Video source.
- Load the campaign files as a playlist in the order you want them to play.
- Enable Loop Playlist in the source properties.
- Preview the playlist to confirm the order, picture, audio levels, and what appears between clips.
See OBS’s VLC Video Source guide for the source and playlist controls. The playlist controls playback on your computer; they do not control YouTube’s stream settings.

Create the YouTube stream and connect OBS
- Open YouTube Studio and go to Live Control Room. Create a stream or schedule one. Scheduling can give viewers an upcoming event page and the option to receive notifications.
- Copy the stream URL and stream key shown for that stream. In OBS, open Settings > Stream and enter the YouTube server and stream key in the corresponding fields.
- Keep the stream key private. YouTube describes it as the credential that tells your encoder where to send the feed and lets YouTube accept it. If it is exposed, replace or reset it in YouTube Studio.
- Start streaming from OBS and confirm that the feed appears in the Live Control Room preview. Check the event page itself to ensure viewers can reach it and that the intended visibility is set.
- Once the picture and sound are correct, use YouTube’s Live Control Room controls to begin the public event if it is scheduled for a later start.

Run a long campaign broadcast responsibly
Start early and monitor the feed
YouTube advises setting up an encoder at least two hours before an event and starting it at least 15 minutes before the scheduled start. Before a campaign broadcast, use that lead time to inspect the Live Control Room preview, confirm the event page is accessible, verify that any local recording is growing, and monitor sound and picture during the run. Do not rely on one 24-hour session for a complete replay
YouTube’s archive guidance says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived; a stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. YouTube also warns that DVR rewind may be limited or unavailable on streams longer than 12 hours. Keep a local recording if you need a dependable copy, and consider dividing a long campaign into shorter sessions if YouTube replays matter. That scheduling choice follows from YouTube’s stated archive and DVR limits; it cannot guarantee that a session will avoid interruptions. Troubleshoot common looping and stream problems
- The video stops after one play: Check that Loop is enabled on the Media Source, or Loop Playlist on the VLC Video source. These are separate source settings.
- VLC Video is missing or will not load: Install VLC and match its architecture to OBS. OBS’s VLC source requires 64-bit VLC when using 64-bit OBS.
- YouTube does not receive the OBS feed: Confirm that the stream URL and key belong to the intended stream and are entered in OBS under Settings > Stream. Check the Live Control Room preview before starting the event.
- The stream is interrupted or terminated: Review YouTube’s copyright notifications and check that all livestream rights are cleared. For licensed third-party material, ask the rights holder whether the channel must be allowlisted in Content ID.
- The replay is missing or incomplete: A session exceeding 12 hours may not be archived, and DVR may not work for very long streams. Retain a local recording and plan shorter sessions if a complete YouTube replay is important.
- Viewers cannot find or access the event: Check the stream’s visibility and event page in YouTube Studio; if scheduled, verify that the scheduled event is the one being sent to from OBS.
