To change Pokémon GO’s camera access on an iPhone, go to Settings > Apps > Pokémon GO > Camera, then switch the permission on or off. You can also manage it in the iPhone’s camera privacy list.
Change camera access from Pokémon GO’s settings
- Open the iPhone’s Settings app.
- Scroll down and tap Apps.
- Tap Pokémon GO.
- Tap Camera, then switch access on or off.

Use the iPhone’s Camera privacy list instead
- Open Settings.
- Tap Privacy & Security, then Camera.
- Find Pokémon GO and switch its access on or off.
Apple says this list includes apps that have requested camera access. See Apple’s instructions for controlling access to hardware features.

If Pokémon GO is missing from the Camera list
Open Pokémon GO and respond to its camera permission request if it appears. Then return to Settings > Privacy & Security > Camera or the Pokémon GO app settings. Apple says an app appears in the privacy list after it has requested access. The cited guidance does not establish a universal fix for other causes, such as device-management restrictions.

What turning camera access off means
Pokémon GO recommends enabling Camera and Location permissions for the full gameplay experience. That recommendation does not establish that camera access is required for every part of the game, and the Help Center does not list which features are affected when it is off.
Camera access is controlled by the iPhone. Apps must request permission before using the camera and explain why they need it; a green indicator appears while an app is using the camera, according to Apple.
