That disables Bluetooth on the PC, so paired headphones, keyboards, and other Bluetooth accessories cannot connect until you turn it back on.
If you want to keep an accessory connected but stop other devices from seeing your PC, that is a different request: Windows 11’s Bluetooth devices discovery setting controls which devices your PC displays while searching. It is not a documented control for hiding your PC from other devices.
Turn Bluetooth off after pairing
Use either of these Windows 11 controls to disable Bluetooth on the PC:
- Settings: Select Start > Settings > Bluetooth & devices, then switch Bluetooth off.
- Quick Settings: Select the Network, Sound, or Battery icon on the taskbar, then select the Bluetooth tile. The tile shows Off when Bluetooth is disabled.

What changes when Bluetooth is off?
The PC’s Bluetooth connection is unavailable while Bluetooth is off, so Bluetooth accessories cannot stay connected or reconnect over Bluetooth during that time. Microsoft says Bluetooth devices can connect automatically when Bluetooth is on and both devices are in range.
Turning Bluetooth off does not remove accessories from the paired-device list. Removing a device is a separate troubleshooting step for a device that will not connect; it is not necessary just to disable Bluetooth.

Does “Bluetooth devices discovery” hide your PC?
No. In Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Devices > Device settings, the Bluetooth devices discovery choices control which device types Windows displays when your PC searches for nearby Bluetooth devices. Microsoft describes Default as showing common devices and Advanced as showing all types. These choices affect what your PC finds, not whether other devices can find the PC.
Microsoft Support’s Windows 11 troubleshooting article says that when Bluetooth is on, Windows shows “Discoverable as <computer_name>”. However, its current Windows 11 guidance does not establish a universal, reliable visibility switch that lets you keep Bluetooth active while hiding the PC.

What about “Allow Bluetooth devices to find this PC”?
Microsoft’s current troubleshooting article includes the Allow Bluetooth devices to find this PC checkbox in its Windows 10 instructions. Treat that as version-specific guidance, not a guaranteed Windows 11 solution: the article does not confirm that the checkbox is available or works consistently across Windows 11 builds and Bluetooth adapters while preserving connections.
For other Bluetooth settings, go to Start > Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Devices > Related settings > More Bluetooth settings. Microsoft notes that More Bluetooth settings may be absent if the PC lacks a Bluetooth adapter or the appropriate drivers. Its presence alone does not establish that a hide-PC control is available or effective on every Windows 11 system.
