Save a webpage as a PDF in a desktop browser
Windows and Linux (Chrome, Edge and other Chromium browsers)
- Open the complete webpage and wait for its text and images to finish loading.
- Press Ctrl+P.
- In the print dialog, choose Save as PDF as the destination.
- Review the preview, including the last page. Check orientation, scale, margins, page breaks and whether background graphics are enabled.
- Choose a filename and location, then select Save.
macOS
- Open the page and wait for dynamic content and images to appear.
- Press Command+P.
- Use the system print dialog’s PDF menu and choose Save as PDF.
- Inspect the preview for missing sections, awkward breaks and incorrect orientation before saving.
When the print preview is wrong
Printing uses print CSS and can reflow a responsive layout. A navigation bar may disappear, columns can stack, and a long page can split a heading from its content. Try landscape orientation, a different scale or narrower margins. If the page loads images only after scrolling, scroll through the entire page first, wait for the images, and then open Print again.

Save a webpage as a PDF on Android and iPhone
Android Chrome
- Open the page in Chrome.
- Open the three-dot menu and choose Share, then Print.
- Select Save as PDF as the printer or destination.
- Review the page count and preview, then save the file.
iPhone Safari
- Open the page in Safari.
- Open the Share sheet or Page Menu and choose Markup.
- Tap Done, then choose Save File To and select a destination.
Firefox for iOS
When you need the complete scrollable page rather than a print-oriented reflow, Firefox for iOS can export a full-page screenshot as a PDF. Confirm that the captured image includes the final section before saving.
Prepare a page before printing
- Load lazy content: Scroll through long pages so images and other lazy-loaded elements are requested. Wait until placeholders are replaced.
- Dismiss overlays: Close newsletter dialogs, chat panels and consent prompts that cover the page.
- Check authentication: Sign in before printing. A login screen or access-denied page can look valid in the preview.
- Inspect the actual file: Open the saved PDF after saving. Do not rely only on the preview; verify images, text, blank pages and page breaks in the file itself.

Repeatable jobs and caching
Choose a cache time-to-live when the page does not change on every request. Cache hits are not billed, and the response states whether the result was billed. For jobs that should finish later, use asynchronous capture with signed webhooks. This keeps a worker from waiting on a long browser render.

Verify the PDF before you publish or archive it
- Open the file itself: Confirm that it is a valid PDF and that the file size is not unexpectedly tiny.
- Check the beginning and end: Look for a blank first page, a missing final section or a footer repeated over content.
- Inspect images: Confirm that lazy-loaded images, charts and logos are visible and not replaced by empty boxes.
- Review pagination: Check page ranges, orientation, margins and breaks around headings, tables and figures.
- Check overlays: Look for consent banners, newsletter dialogs, chat widgets or sticky headers covering text.
- Validate access: For protected URLs, make sure the PDF shows the intended account or regional content.
Troubleshooting common failures
The PDF is blank
Cause: The page timed out, requires JavaScript, returned a bot check, or the capture happened before content rendered. Fix: Add a selector wait, a delay or network-idle wait; provide the required cookies or headers; and inspect X-Page-Verdict and X-Billed. A blank page or failed load is not billed by ScreenshotNeo.
Images are missing
Cause: Images are lazy-loaded, blocked by a resource policy or still downloading. Fix: Scroll the page before browser printing, or configure an explicit wait and allow the image resource type in an automated capture. Check the saved PDF rather than trusting a partial preview.
Content is cut off at the right edge

Cause: Print rendering often omits backgrounds unless explicitly enabled. Fix: Set pdf_background according to the API documentation and verify the output.
A login page appears instead of the document
Cause: The automated request has no session. Fix: Pass the required cookies, Authorization header or other custom headers, then wait for a selector that exists only after authentication.
A cookie banner or chat panel covers the page
