You can’t convert a YouTube Premiere into a continuous channel with a setting. A Premiere is a scheduled group viewing of an uploaded video; to keep programming running afterward, schedule a separate YouTube Live stream or use a continuous playout service. Treat the Premiere as the launch event, plan the next programming, and use Live Redirect when eligible to guide viewers to it.
What a Premiere does—and does not do
Before the event
YouTube creates a public watch page for the upcoming video. Share it so viewers can set reminders, comment, and use chat. You can also upload a trailer to play before the Premiere.

During the event
A countdown leads into the prepared video, which viewers watch together in real time. They can rewind, but cannot skip ahead beyond the portion already shown. Chat and comments let viewers interact while it plays. This is not a camera or encoder livestream: the event plays an uploaded video.

After the event
The video remains on your channel as a regular upload, and chat replay is available. YouTube says Premiere views transfer to the video afterward. The Premiere itself does not keep playing as a continuous feed. YouTube Help: Premiere a new video.

Plan the handoff to ongoing programming
- Schedule the Premiere. Upload the finished video in YouTube Studio, choose Premiere when scheduling, select a countdown if it suits the event, and share the public watch page.
- Decide what viewers should see next. Prepare a distinct scheduled live stream or continuous programming feed. A live stream is a separate YouTube Live event, generally sent through an encoder or continuous playout service.
- Set up live streaming early. For encoder streaming, YouTube Studio provides a stream URL and stream key to enter in your software or hardware encoder. First-time live activation can take up to 24 hours, so enable it ahead of the planned event. See YouTube Help: Set up your encoder for live streaming.
- Test and monitor the feed. YouTube’s live-streaming tips call for a verified channel with no live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days. Run a test, check the preview and accessibility, then monitor audio, video, and stream status while live. See YouTube Help: Live streaming tips.
- Tell viewers where to go. Explain the next event in the Premiere chat or stream so the transition is clear. Where eligible, use Live Redirect to route viewers to the next selected Premiere or live stream.
Use Live Redirect when your channel is eligible
Live Redirect can send viewers from an ending stream or Premiere to another selected Premiere or live stream. YouTube’s current Help page says a creator sending a redirect must have more than 1,000 subscribers and no Community Guidelines strikes. Sending viewers to another channel’s live stream requires that channel’s permission. YouTube recommends creating the destination Premiere before the stream when routing a live audience into a Premiere. Check the current settings and eligibility in Studio, as labels and rules can change. YouTube Help: Live Redirect.
Choose how to keep the feed running
For a YouTube prerecorded-video stream, these are the practical approaches. The best fit depends on who will operate and monitor the feed, how it should loop or recover, and how you will preserve replays.

- Software encoder on a local computer: You control the setup and send the feed using the stream URL and key from YouTube Studio. The computer, encoder, and internet connection must remain available, and you need a plan to notice and address interruptions.
- Hardware encoder: A dedicated device can send a live feed without making a software encoder on a general-purpose computer mandatory. You still need to arrange the video source, internet connection, monitoring, and any recovery procedure.
- Another cloud playout service: YouTube’s verified encoder directory includes a cloud-based service described as supporting continuous 24/7 streams of prerecorded videos. Whatever you choose, check that the approach can loop or schedule your material, decide who checks sound and stream status, and make sure every video and audio element is authorized for the intended use and audience. The cited YouTube documentation does not establish that a particular playlist is cleared just because it can be streamed.

Protect replays and channel archives
Keep the Premiere upload available and organize shorter live archives or highlights for discovery. YouTube may automatically archive streams under 12 hours, but a longer stream may not be captured at all. If preserving a replay matters, keep an independent local recording or plan shorter sessions. Common problems and fixes
- The Premiere ended but the channel is no longer live. That is expected: a Premiere is an event for an uploaded video, not a continuous stream. Schedule a separate Live event or set up continuous playout.
- The encoder cannot connect. Check that you copied the current stream URL and key from YouTube Studio into the encoder, that live streaming is enabled, and that the encoder is online. For first-time activation, allow up to 24 hours.
- The destination does not appear for Live Redirect. Confirm your channel meets YouTube’s current subscriber and Community Guidelines requirements. If sending viewers to another channel’s live stream, obtain that channel’s permission.
- A long stream has no replay. Streams exceeding 12 hours may not be captured. Keep a separate recording or divide the programming into shorter sessions if the archive is important.
- The stream is live but viewers report problems. Check the YouTube preview and monitor audio, video, and status during the stream; a test before the event can reveal issues before the audience arrives.
