Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsIf a professional app crashes, freezes, or feels sluggish on a Galaxy Tab S12, first identify exactly when it fails, then check for an app update, permissions, and Google Play system updates before trying steps that could erase work. A powerful tablet does not guarantee that every app supports its installed Android version or your particular workflow.
Samsung announced the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra and Tab S12+ on September 30, 2026, with Android 17 and One UI 9. Software availability can vary by market, carrier, and model, so verify the version on your own tablet before troubleshooting. [Samsung’s Tab S12 announcement]

First, pin down what “won’t run well” means
Before changing settings, record the app name and version, your Tab S12 model, Android and One UI versions, and whether your workplace manages the tablet. Describe the failure precisely: does the app refuse to install, fail to launch, close during a task, freeze, lag, or fail only with a particular file, feature, sign-in, network, accessory, or screen orientation?
Those details help distinguish an app-wide problem from one tied to a specific task or condition. If this is a work-managed device, check with your IT administrator before changing settings or removing apps; management policies may restrict updates, permissions, or installation.

Is the app compatible with Galaxy Tab S12?
Compatibility depends on the app as well as the tablet. Android platform releases can change behavior: some changes affect all apps running on that Android version, while others depend on the API level an app targets. Android Developers describes compatibility testing as part of app developers’ work. The tablet’s hardware alone cannot establish whether a particular app supports Android 17 or a specific professional feature. Check the app publisher’s current requirements and support information. [Android platform behavior changes]
If the app does not appear in Google Play or Galaxy Store, or the store prevents installation on this device, treat that as a compatibility warning rather than evidence of a tablet fault. Samsung cautions that apps written for older Android versions may not work on recent devices. If the app is installed but misbehaves, continue with the checks below. [Samsung’s app troubleshooting guide]
Samsung lists professional apps such as Photoshop, Notability, Goodnotes, LumaFusion, Notion, and Clip Studio Paint in its Tab S12 announcement. That does not mean every app is preinstalled, available in every market, or included without separate downloads, purchases, subscriptions, or other terms. Confirm availability and requirements with the app’s publisher. [Samsung’s Tab S12 announcement]

App keeps crashing on Galaxy Tab? Try these checks in order
1. Update the app from its original store
Open Google Play Store, Galaxy Store, or the third-party store that supplied the app and check for updates. Install any offered update, then retry the same action that failed. If an update is unavailable, check the publisher’s support information for Android 17 and Tab S12 requirements.
2. Review the app’s permissions
Open Settings > Apps > [affected app] > Permissions. Review whether the app has the permissions needed for the feature you are using, and grant only those necessary. Samsung notes that Android may automatically remove permissions from unused apps, so a permission lapse can explain why a feature stopped working even though the app still opens. 3. Install any Google Play system update
Samsung says many apps rely on Google Play system software. On the support guide’s path, open Settings > About tablet > Software information > Google Play system update and install an offered update. Labels can vary by software version. Retry the same task afterward. [Samsung’s app troubleshooting guide]
4. Optimize the tablet, then restart
Open Settings > Device care > Optimize now. Samsung says this routine closes running apps and checks power use, storage, and unstable or malicious apps. Test the affected app again; if it still misbehaves, restart the tablet and repeat the same test. [Samsung’s app troubleshooting guide]
5. Reinstall only when your work is protected
Before uninstalling, confirm that projects, settings, and other local files are backed up or synced, and make sure you know your sign-in credentials. Then uninstall and reinstall the app from the store that originally supplied it. Open it, sign in, and repeat the same task. Reinstalling can remove information stored locally by the app, so do not skip the backup check for an active professional workflow. [Samsung’s app troubleshooting guide]
Use Safe mode to check for interference from another app
Safe mode disables downloaded apps while the tablet runs its original system software. Test whether the same problem occurs there. If it stops, Samsung says a downloaded app is likely responsible; exit Safe mode, remove recently installed apps one at a time, and test again after each removal. You may need your device credentials after restarting. [Samsung’s app troubleshooting guide]
If the app still fails in Safe mode, that does not prove the app itself is at fault, but it makes interference from another downloaded app less likely. Continue with the publisher or IT administrator rather than removing unrelated apps indiscriminately.

App freezes on Samsung tablet? Clear data only as a later step
Samsung identifies corrupted app data as one possible cause of problems, but clearing data erases information stored by that app and may sign you out. Before doing so, verify cloud sync, back up local projects and settings, and make sure you can regain access to the account. If the app is workplace-managed, ask IT first. Samsung’s troubleshooting guide discusses clearing data as a remedy, but it should come after less destructive checks. [Samsung’s app troubleshooting guide]

Escalate if one app continues to fail after updating, checking permissions and Play system software, restarting, and testing in Safe mode. Send the publisher or IT team:
- The app name and version, Tab S12 model, and installed Android and One UI versions.
- The exact steps that reproduce the failure and whether it happens with a particular file, feature, accessory, orientation, network, or sign-in.
- When the issue began, such as after an app update, system update, installation, or permission change.
- Whether the same problem occurs after a restart and in Safe mode.
A factory reset is a last resort, not a routine app fix. Samsung warns that it restores the tablet to its original settings and will not permanently resolve a bug that requires an app update. [Samsung’s app troubleshooting guide]
What Galaxy Store’s app standards do—and do not—promise
Samsung’s Galaxy Store distribution policy requires apps to install, launch, terminate, and uninstall successfully, and addresses crashes or functional problems as well as hardware events, heat, and battery drain. Those are publication standards, not a guarantee that every app will work without bugs on every tablet, software build, market, or professional workflow. [Samsung Galaxy Store distribution policy]
