Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteA missing widget or clock-style option after a Nothing OS update is not automatically an uninstall or a bug. First record the phone model, exact OS build, region, beta or stable channel, and the screen where the item should appear. Then verify that the installed release actually includes the feature. Only after that should you try launcher checks, a restart, or the documented Clock time-mismatch procedure.
Start by identifying exactly what disappeared
“Missing widget” can describe several different situations, and each has a different check. Determine which one applies before changing settings:
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
- Home-screen widget: the widget is absent from the widget picker or cannot be placed on a home page.
- Lock-screen clock or shortcut: the item is unavailable in lock-screen customization rather than on the launcher.
- Clock style: the clock-style selector itself is missing, or a particular style no longer appears in the selector.
- Wrong time: the widget exists, but its displayed time differs from the status bar. This is a timekeeping problem, not a missing-feature problem.
Write down the following before troubleshooting:
- Phone model and sales region.
- Nothing OS version and full build number.
- Whether the phone is on a beta or stable channel.
- The widget or clock style name, if known.
- Where it should appear: home screen, widget picker, lock screen, or another launcher setting.
- Whether the item was present immediately before the update and whether other home-screen items changed.
Nothing’s release notes and announcements are tied to particular devices and releases. There is no universal feature matrix that proves a widget or style must exist on every Nothing phone, so do not treat an item as removed until the build and device are identified.
Separate an unavailable feature from a misplaced item
Two observations are especially useful. If the widget family or style is completely absent from the relevant picker, the first question is whether that build contains it. If it appears in the picker but is not visible on a page, the problem is more likely placement, layout protection, or launcher state. If the widget is present and only its time is wrong, follow the date-and-time procedure later in this guide instead of deleting it.

Make a simple before-and-after note: name the old item, its screen, the update version, and what changed after the reboot. Also note whether only one item disappeared or whether several widgets, icons, or customization controls changed together. This gives support a reproducible symptom instead of the broad statement that “the update removed my widgets.”
Check whether your installed release includes the feature
An update can change feature availability by device, channel, rollout stage, or software version. A feature shown in an announcement may be planned for a general release while absent from a beta build, or it may be limited to a particular handset generation.
Check for a newer update
- Open Settings.
- Open About phone.
- Choose Software info.
- Review the installed Nothing OS version and build number, then use the update check offered on that screen if available.
Nothing says users can receive an update notification and can also check manually from the About phone software-information area. Menu wording can vary slightly by OS version, so use the closest equivalent label if your build presents a different layout.
Use release information cautiously
The Nothing OS 5.0 announcement illustrates why a release announcement is not a guarantee for every installation: its refreshed home screen and Micrographics clock face were described as still in development for beta users and planned for the general release. That statement establishes a release-stage distinction, not a promise that the same style is available on every model today.
A historical Phone (1) release post for Nothing OS 2.0 listed redesigned Clock, Weather, and Quick Look widgets for that device. It should be read as device-specific history, not evidence that a current build on another phone contains those widgets. If the release information for your model and build does not list the feature, there may be nothing to restore locally.
Check the channel before comparing screenshots
Comparing a beta screenshot with a stable-build phone can create a false expectation. Record whether the phone is enrolled in a beta or running stable software, then compare only with release information for that channel and model. A staged rollout can also mean that two phones with the same product family do not show identical controls at the same time. Treat an announcement as an indication of intended availability until the installed build confirms it.
When a home-screen widget or style is missing
These checks are low risk, but they are not a guaranteed restoration procedure. Nothing’s adjacent guidance for a missing app icon mentions themes, plug-ins, restarting, and home-screen layout settings; widgets may behave differently from icons.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →1. Inspect the widget picker and the correct screen
- Long-press an empty area of the home screen.
- Open the Widgets picker and look for the Clock or other affected widget.
- Check every home-screen page and any folder or panel where the item may have been placed.
- If the complaint concerns a lock-screen clock, open the lock-screen customization controls instead; a home-screen widget will not appear there.
If the widget is visible in the picker but will not place, note the exact message or behavior. If the entire widget family is absent, record that separately from a single missing style.

2. Restart the phone
Restart the phone once after the update has finished. This is a basic check for a launcher state that did not refresh correctly. A restart does not prove that the feature is included in the build, so continue with release verification if nothing changes.
3. Check recently installed themes or plug-ins
Nothing’s missing-icon guidance specifically advises checking downloaded third-party themes or plug-ins. If one was installed or updated around the same time as the OS update, temporarily return to the standard theme or disable the related plug-in where the phone provides that option, then inspect the widget picker again. Treat this as an interference check, not as evidence that a theme caused the OS feature to be removed.
4. Review home-screen layout protection
Nothing describes a Freeze home screen layout option in Home settings. If enabled, it can prevent rearranging the layout. Open the home-screen settings, review that option, and temporarily disable it if you need to add or move an item. Re-enable it after testing if you use it to prevent accidental changes.

5. Recheck after the launcher has settled
After a major update, leave the phone connected to power and a stable network while background setup completes, then reopen the widget picker. Do not infer from a short delay that a feature is permanently deleted. Conversely, a persistent absence after a restart and build check is not proof that clearing random app data will restore it; no official universal cache-clearing fix is documented for a missing widget or clock style.
6. Record the result of each check
After each action, test the same screen and picker and write down what changed. For example, “Clock appears in the picker but cannot be dropped,” “only the Micrographics style is absent,” or “all widgets are present but the lock-screen selector is missing.” This prevents repeating unrelated steps and gives Nothing Support a precise failure boundary.
When the Clock widget shows the wrong time
A Clock widget that displays a different time from the status bar is a separate, documented problem. Do not use the missing-widget workflow as a substitute for the time-mismatch steps.
Check the system date and time
- Open Settings.
- Open System.
- Choose Date & time.
- Check the automatic date, time, and time-zone settings. If necessary, adjust the system date and time manually and then compare the status bar with the widget.
Clear Clock storage and cache if the mismatch remains
- Open Settings.
- Choose Apps.
- Tap See all apps.
- Select Clock.
- Open Storage & cache.
- Use the available controls to clear the Clock app’s storage and cache, then check the widget again.
Labels can differ slightly between Nothing OS versions. These instructions come from Nothing’s guidance for a status-bar-versus-widget time discrepancy; they are not a documented method for bringing back a missing widget or style selector. If the time remains different after these steps, Nothing says to contact Customer Support for further assistance.
Do not clear Clock data merely because a style is absent. Clearing storage is documented for the time mismatch, and it can reset Clock app data; it is not established as a way to add styles that the installed release does not provide.

If the operating-system update itself failed
An interrupted or unsuccessful OTA installation requires a different path from a missing post-update widget. Nothing’s system-update guidance calls for:
- A stable network connection.
- Sufficient free storage for the download and installation.
- At least 40% battery charge.
- Avoiding actions that interrupt the OTA process while it is installing.
Resolve those conditions before retrying the update. If the update repeatedly fails, document the error message and build number and contact Nothing Support. Do not describe an update-installation fix as a widget-restoration technique; the two problems have different causes and official procedures.
If the phone reports that the update completed successfully but a feature is absent, record the completed build and switch back to feature-availability checks. Re-running the same OTA without identifying the model and channel does not establish that the widget or style should be present.
Use this decision table to choose the next step
| What you observe | Most useful next check | What the official guidance establishes |
|---|---|---|
| The widget or style is absent from the picker | Record the model, build, channel, region, and screen; verify release availability; restart and inspect themes or plug-ins. | No universal restoration procedure is provided for a missing widget or style. |
| The widget exists but cannot be placed | Review Freeze home screen layout and inspect the launcher after a restart. | Nothing documents the layout-freeze setting in adjacent home-screen guidance. |
| A home-screen item moved or vanished after a theme change | Check downloaded themes or plug-ins and compare with the standard theme. | The theme check is documented for missing app icons, not specifically for widgets. |
| The Clock widget time differs from the status bar | Check Settings > System > Date & time, then Settings > Apps > See all apps > Clock > Storage & cache. | These are Nothing’s documented steps for a time discrepancy. |
| The OTA update will not install | Check network, storage, battery of at least 40%, and whether installation was interrupted. | These conditions apply to update failure, not feature recovery. |
| The feature remains unavailable after checks | Contact Nothing Support with complete device and software details. | Nothing specifically directs users to Customer Support when its documented Clock discrepancy steps do not resolve the issue. |
What to include when contacting support
Support can investigate a build-specific availability problem only if the report identifies the environment. Include:
- Phone model and region.
- Exact Nothing OS version and build number.
- Beta or stable channel.
- Name and description of the missing widget or clock style.
- Whether it is missing from the home-screen picker, a home page, the lock screen, or another setting.
- When it disappeared and whether a theme or plug-in was installed.
- Whether you restarted, checked release information, reviewed the layout-freeze setting, and followed any relevant date/time steps.
- Screenshots or a screen recording showing the picker or setting, if the support channel accepts them.
Nothing’s official wording for an unresolved Clock time discrepancy is: “If the issue persists, contact our Customer Support for further assistance.” The same practical escalation principle applies when a feature remains absent after you have confirmed the build and completed the relevant checks, although there is no separate published restoration script for missing widgets or clock-style options.
A useful support-message template
State the model and region in the first line, followed by the exact Nothing OS build and beta or stable status. Then identify the item, its expected screen, the last version where it appeared, and whether it is absent from the picker or merely cannot be placed. List the restart, theme or plug-in, layout, release-check, and date/time steps you tried, and attach the relevant screenshot. This format lets support distinguish a release-availability question from a launcher-placement problem or a Clock time discrepancy.
Why a factory reset is not the first response
The available Nothing guidance does not establish a factory reset, random cache deletion, launcher replacement, or accessory change as a fix for a missing widget or style. These actions can create additional setup work while leaving a release-limited feature unavailable. Confirm the build and feature stage first, then use the narrow procedure that matches the symptom. Escalate with evidence when the item should exist but does not.

Frequently asked questions
Does a Nothing OS update automatically remove a widget?
Not necessarily. The absence may reflect a different screen, a changed launcher state, a theme or plug-in, a layout lock, a beta or staged release, or a feature that the installed build does not include. Identify the model, build, channel, and screen before concluding that the update removed it.
Why is a clock style shown online missing on my phone?
Announcements can describe a feature that is still in development, planned for general release, limited to a device, or unavailable in a particular channel. The Nothing OS 5.0 announcement’s treatment of the Micrographics clock face is an example of release-stage wording. Verify your own build rather than relying on a screenshot from another phone.
Can I clear the launcher cache to bring back a missing style?
Nothing’s official material here does not provide a universal cache-clearing fix for a missing widget or clock-style selector. The documented storage-and-cache path is for a Clock widget whose time differs from the status bar. Avoid presenting that procedure as a guaranteed restoration method for a missing feature.
What if the widget appears in the picker but will not stay on the home screen?
Check whether Freeze home screen layout is enabled, restart the phone, and test without a recently added theme or plug-in. Record any placement message. These are checks, not proof that the widget is supported or that they will restore it.
What if only the lock-screen clock is missing?
Use the lock-screen customization controls, not the home-screen widget picker. Record that distinction in the support report because Nothing’s home-screen icon guidance does not establish a lock-screen restoration procedure.
Should I retry the update to fix the widget?
Only treat it as an update problem if the OTA itself failed or was interrupted. For a failed installation, check network stability, free storage, at least 40% battery, and interruptions. If the update completed, verify feature availability for the resulting build instead of assuming another retry will add an unavailable style.
Is there a cost for the documented troubleshooting steps?
No purchase or accessory is identified as a remedy. The checks involve Settings, the launcher, themes or plug-ins, the Clock app, and Nothing Support. A factory reset or replacement device is not established as necessary for this symptom.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsWhen should I stop troubleshooting?
Stop when you have confirmed the exact build and channel, checked the correct screen and picker, restarted, reviewed themes or plug-ins and layout protection, and separated a time mismatch from a missing feature. If the item should exist but remains absent, contact Nothing Support with the complete record rather than making destructive changes.
Best Value
Bottom line
Most cases can be classified before they are “fixed.” A truly missing feature requires model-and-build verification; a misplaced home-screen item calls for picker, restart, theme, plug-in, and layout checks; and a wrong Clock time follows the separate date/time and Clock storage path. Because Nothing does not publish one universal recovery procedure for missing widgets or clock styles, a confirmed absence on a supported build should be reported with the exact device, version, channel, screen, and steps already tried.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I tell whether a widget was removed or merely moved?
Check the widget picker first, then every home-screen page, folder, and the relevant lock-screen controls. If it is in the picker, investigate placement and Freeze home screen layout; if it is absent, verify the build and feature stage.
Is a missing clock style the same as a wrong Clock time?
No. A missing style concerns feature availability or customization. A wrong time is a documented Clock discrepancy: check Settings > System > Date & time, then Clock storage and cache if needed.
Recommended Free Tools
Can a theme or plug-in hide a widget?
Nothing’s adjacent missing-icon guidance recommends checking downloaded themes or plug-ins. Temporarily compare with the standard theme, but treat this as an interference check rather than a guaranteed widget fix.
What information does Nothing Support need?
Provide the model, region, exact Nothing OS build, beta or stable channel, affected item and screen, when it disappeared, themes or plug-ins involved, steps tried, and screenshots if accepted.
Should I factory-reset the phone?
No. Nothing’s documented guidance does not establish a factory reset as a fix for a missing widget or clock style. Confirm availability and complete the narrow checks first.
The Bottom Line
Verify the exact device and build before treating a widget or clock style as removed. Use launcher checks for placement, the date/time and Clock-storage procedure only for a time mismatch, and Nothing Support for a persistent absence on a build that should include the feature.
