Correct only the adjustments the manufacturer allows, then test the movements your task requires in a safe area. Stop using the device if discomfort persists, movement remains restricted, or equipment appears damaged.
What to do first when an exoskeleton hurts or feels restrictive
- Pause the task. Do not try to work through pain or a movement restriction.
- Identify the symptom. Note where rubbing or pressure occurs, when it starts, and which movement brings it on. Check whether the device has shifted, a strap is pulling, a cuff is pressing, or a support mode is active. These checks can help locate a fit issue but do not replace the manual or a professional assessment.
- Inspect the fit and equipment. Compare straps, buckles, cuffs, harness contact areas, and support modules with the instructions for your model. Look for loose fasteners, worn or cracked parts, or other visible damage. Texas DWC recommends fitting the device to the user, securing straps, checking comfort, and inspecting equipment before use (Texas DWC, “Exoskeletons and injury prevention,” updated November 20, 2025; Texas DWC, “Exoskeletons Safety Fact Sheet,” HS25-016A).
- Adjust only as the manual permits. Do not assume that a strap direction, cuff position, or padding method applies to every device. If you cannot correct the fit using the manufacturer’s instructions, contact the manufacturer or authorized supplier.
- Re-test before returning to the task. In a safe space, walk, bend, and reach. Check that the device stays in place and allows the range of motion you need. Texas DWC advises readjusting before resuming work if a device restricts movement or shifts out of place (Texas DWC Safety Fact Sheet).
How to reduce rubbing and pressure points
Check whether contact pressure comes from a component that has shifted, a strap or cuff that is too tight, or a harness area that does not sit as intended. Adjust or reposition components only according to the device manual. Add padding only if the manufacturer’s instructions permit it; an improvised cushion or substitute part may change the fit or function.

For an Auxivo OmniSuit, the manufacturer’s instructions are model-specific:
- Vest: It should be close-fitting while still allowing comfortable, free movement and breathing. If it feels uncomfortable, the manual says to loosen the chest belts slightly.
- Arm cuffs and shoulder position: If you cannot raise both arms forward, check whether the arm cuffs are locked and follow the manual’s procedure for checking shoulder-joint position and stability. Reposition cuffs that slide; loosen cuffs that are too tight.
- Thigh cuffs: They should feel snug but comfortable. The manual’s fit check is whether a flat hand can fit between the thigh and cuff without much effort.
- Pressure during use: The manual says friction or pressure points can be addressed by readjusting the vest, thigh cuffs, or arm cuffs. It notes that adjustments may be needed as the suit settles during the first hour or when work posture changes.
These steps come from the Auxivo OmniSuit User Manual and should not be applied to other brands or models as a universal fitting recipe.

How to check whether an exoskeleton is limiting movement
Test the movements required for your task—not just whether you can stand comfortably. In a safe area, walk, bend, reach, and raise your arms where relevant. Notice whether the device slips, pulls, catches, or prevents a normal movement. Texas DWC recommends checking the user’s range of motion and readjusting if the device restricts movement or shifts out of place (Texas DWC, “Exoskeletons and injury prevention”; Texas DWC Safety Fact Sheet).
Support settings can also affect movement. On the OmniSuit, deactivate back support when it is not required—for example, during breaks, while sitting, or while driving—to avoid unnecessary movement limitations. This is an OmniSuit-specific instruction; check the manual for the controls and intended use of any other device.

- Lightweight, low profile exoskeleton support brace with less bulk. Shaped to maintain the wrist in a neutral position.
- Permits wide range of hand and finger motion; sculpted to fit the nuances of the hand.
- Three-dimensionally molded interior creates a padded surface to maximize and enhance wearing comfort. Designed to relieve predictable pressure points.
- Easy to apply hook-and-eye fastening mechanism is adjustable for comfort; apply and remove using only one hand
- Measure around the break of the wrist, and also around the middle of palm. Choose Left or Right Hand. Available sizes: Small, Medium, Large.
When to stop using the device and get help
- Ongoing or severe pain: Rest and avoid further use until discomfort subsides. If pain is persistent or severe, consult a healthcare professional before resuming. Hypershell gives this advice in its support guidance on pain or discomfort.
- Fit you cannot correct: Contact the manufacturer or authorized supplier rather than making unapproved changes.
- Visible damage or malfunction: Remove damaged equipment from service and follow the manufacturer’s instructions. Texas DWC identifies cracked or worn parts, loose straps or fasteners, and battery or sensor malfunctions as items to inspect.
- Heat or unusual fatigue: Take breaks as needed. Exoskeleton weight and heat retention can contribute to heat strain, according to Texas DWC. The OmniSuit manual says to stop using that suit if signs of overheating—such as heavy sweating, dizziness, or fatigue—occur.
This is general troubleshooting, not an individualized fit assessment or a diagnosis of pain. Follow the exact model’s manual and intended-use instructions; do not resume while pain, equipment concerns, or unresolved movement restrictions remain.

Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Why instructions differ by exoskeleton
There is no single fit adjustment that applies to every exoskeleton. Devices differ in the body areas they support, their contact points, whether support is passive, powered, or modular, and how they are adjusted or engaged for particular activities and postures. Use the manual for the exact model and, where applicable, the correct regional version. For example, Laevo’s V2 user manuals page distinguishes model and regional information. Do not transfer OmniSuit cuff or support-module directions to a different device.

OmniSuit replacement parts are not universal
The OmniSuit manual requires original Auxivo Elastic Energy Storages (EES). It identifies the back EES as a consumable to replace after one year in use, or when worn or damaged. This requirement applies to the OmniSuit only; verify the model and manufacturer’s instructions before sourcing replacement parts.
