Follow only the checks given for that appliance and problem, then verify the model’s warranty terms. There is no single safe troubleshooting checklist for every LG appliance: the examples below are specific to an LG dishwasher manual. This guide covers LG’s U.S. support routes.
Start with the model number and the exact symptom
Find the appliance’s model number and record what it is doing—or not doing—including any error code shown. A precise description helps you locate guidance for the right product rather than applying advice intended for a different appliance.

In LG’s U.S. Help Library, select a product or search by keyword. Look for a result that matches both your appliance and symptom, then consult its owner’s manual. Manuals and support articles are model- and issue-specific; do not treat a check listed for one category as an instruction for another.
Use only the checks listed for your model and symptom
An LG dishwasher owner manual’s “Before Calling for Service” section says, “If the appliance does not function properly or does not function at all, check the following before you call for service.” Its examples include confirming that the start button was pressed, the door is latched and power is connected. For standing water, it lists checking whether the drain hose is kinked or clogged. These are dishwasher examples, not universal instructions for LG appliances.

Stay within the manual’s stated checks. This general guidance does not call for opening panels, handling wiring, bypassing safeguards or attempting invasive repairs. If the manual does not give a suitable check, or you are unsure how to carry one out safely, stop and contact LG support.
Check the exact warranty before choosing a service route
Use LG’s warranty information for your product and read the detailed terms that apply to its model. LG states that the warranty period starts on the original delivery or purchase date. Keep your purchase information available; a reviewed LG dishwasher warranty, for example, requires proof of original retail purchase specifying the product model and purchase date. That requirement comes from a dishwasher document and should not be assumed to describe every LG product’s warranty.

Do not assume a repair is covered just because the appliance is within a period you believe to be the warranty term. Coverage depends on the product’s specific warranty terms and the issue; confirm eligibility with LG.
Choose the repair path that matches your coverage
LG’s U.S. repair request page offers warranty and flat-rate repair paths. The online flow asks you to select a product and symptom, enter contact details, and proceed to review service scheduling. It also provides a way to check request status. Confirm current eligibility, costs and available service dates with LG before proceeding.

Choose the product and symptom that best match your situation in LG’s form, then review the service details and scheduling options it presents. If your issue continues after the model-specific checks, avoid repeating checks that did not help; give LG a clear account of what you observed and what the manual-directed checks showed.
