How to Transfer Pokémon from Pokémon HOME to Scarlet or Violet

To move Pokémon from Pokémon HOME into Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet, use HOME on the Nintendo Switch console that has the game’s save data. Choose the game in HOME, place eligible Pokémon in its Boxes, and save. Check each Pokémon’s compatibility first: being stored in HOME does not mean it can enter either game.

Before you start

• Use the Nintendo Switch version of Pokémon HOME for this transfer.
• The Scarlet or Violet save file must be on the same console where you launch HOME. This also matters if you have moved to another Switch-family console. See Pokémon Support’s Nintendo Switch 2 FAQ.
• Have the destination game and the correct user’s save data available. If you use HOME on mobile as well, the Switch and mobile versions need to be set up with the same Nintendo Account to access the same Pokémon Boxes; see Pokémon Support’s account setup instructions.

Check whether a Pokémon can enter Scarlet or Violet

Compatibility is Pokémon-specific, so check in HOME just before transferring rather than relying on a general species list that may become outdated.

On Nintendo Switch

1. In HOME, choose Pokémon and select the target game and the user whose save data you want to access.
2. Select the Pokémon and open Check Summary.
3. Press + to view Connected Games. A grayed-out game icon means that Pokémon cannot be used in that game.

On mobile

Open the Pokémon’s details and check Games it can travel to. Pokémon Support explains both checks in its compatibility guide.

Move Pokémon into Scarlet or Violet

1. Launch Pokémon HOME on the console containing the Scarlet or Violet save data.
2. From HOME’s main menu, select Pokémon.
3. Select Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet, then choose the relevant user’s save data.
4. Choose an eligible Pokémon in HOME and the destination Box in the game. Pokémon Support’s connection instructions say to “Select the Pokémon you want to move and the Box to move them to.” Pokémon that cannot be moved are marked with an icon.
5. Save your changes before leaving HOME.

What happens to a Pokémon’s moves?

If a Pokémon enters a game where it cannot learn some of its previous moves, HOME gives it a moveset it can learn in the destination game. HOME keeps movesets by linked game; according to Pokémon Support’s explanation, returning the Pokémon to a game it has visited before restores the last moveset it had there.

Is Pokémon HOME Premium required?

The Pokémon Support instructions for connecting HOME to a Switch game do not establish a Premium requirement for moving Pokémon from HOME to Scarlet or Violet. The article mentions Premium in the separate context of moving Pokémon from Pokémon Bank, which is a different transfer path.
