You’ll need an Apple Music subscription, access to your source account, and Sync Library enabled. The process matches tracks against Apple Music’s catalog; it does not move audio files or delete your source collection.
Before you start
- Subscribe to Apple Music and sign in with the Apple Account you use for it.
- Turn on Sync Library.
- Have your Spotify or other source-service login ready.
- Check that the feature and your source service are supported in your country or region. Apple says availability varies, and the transfer is provided by a third party. On iPhone, Apple’s guide specifies iOS 18.4 or later. See Apple’s transfer instructions for current availability and device guidance.
Transfer playlists using Apple Music
- Open the transfer feature. In Apple Music on iPhone or iPad, tap the profile or account control and choose Transfer Music from Other Services. On Android, open the app menu, go to Settings, and choose the transfer option. On the web, sign in at music.apple.com, open the profile menu, and select Transfer Music.
- Connect the source service. Select Spotify or another listed service and sign in when prompted.
- Choose what to copy. Select the playlists or other categories Apple Music offers for that service, then tap Add to Library. The available choices depend on the source; do not assume every service-generated playlist or library category can be transferred.
- Review unmatched tracks. Apple Music searches its catalog for matches. If it shows Some Music Needs Review, inspect the proposed alternatives and add an appropriate version or ignore the item. Apple says alternatives must be reviewed within 30 days; while items remain under review, new transfers on that device are blocked.
- Check the resulting playlists. Look closely at tracks with common titles, live or remastered releases, and region-specific availability. A track that is missing from the Apple Music playlist has not been deleted from the source.
What transfers—and what does not
This is a copy of playlist and library information matched to Apple Music’s catalog, not a transfer of audio files or offline downloads. Your source collection remains available there; Apple’s guide says, “Nothing is removed from the other music service.” See Apple’s iPhone guide and Apple Support.

Some songs may not have a match, or Apple Music may offer a different edition, such as a deluxe or live version. Catalog differences, regional availability, metadata, alternate releases, and missing identifiers can all affect matching. Confirm the version and playlist contents rather than treating a completed transfer as a guaranteed one-to-one copy. Explicit tracks may also appear greyed out if explicit content is disabled.

When supported by the source, liked or loved songs can be added to Apple Music’s Favourite Songs playlist. Whether those items—or other categories—are available depends on the source service and the choices shown during transfer.

Third-party alternatives
If Apple’s built-in flow does not meet your needs, services such as Soundiiz and TuneMyMusic document transfers between Spotify and Apple Music. They also copy playlist or library data rather than streaming audio. Before authorizing either service, confirm that the exact source-to-Apple Music route is available to you, what categories it transfers, how it reports unmatched items, and whether it needs access to both accounts.
Soundiiz
Soundiiz documents Spotify-to-Apple Music transfers and reports successful, partial, or failed results. Its Free plan allows eligible playlist transfers one playlist at a time, with up to 200 selected tracks from each playlist; a longer playlist can be transferred partially by choosing which 200 tracks to include. Batch operations and managing favorites such as albums or artists require paid features. Premium removes the 200-track selection limit and adds batch transfer, auto-sync, favorites management, and priority support. Check Soundiiz’s transfer guide and current plan details, since plan features and destination limits can change.

TuneMyMusic
TuneMyMusic describes transfers between major services including Spotify and Apple Music. It says users can choose a whole library, selected playlists, favorites, artists, albums, or individual tracks, and also describes importing from text, a file, or a playlist URL. These are the provider’s stated capabilities; verify the current options and limits for your exact transfer on TuneMyMusic’s transfer page.

Why some songs did not transfer
- No Apple Music catalog match: The source recording may not be available in Apple Music.
- A different version was matched: Compare album, artist, release, and whether the recording is live or remastered before accepting an alternative.
- Regional catalog differences: A track available in the source service may not be available in Apple Music where you are.
- Source restrictions: The source service may not expose every playlist or category for transfer.
- Review is pending: Check for Some Music Needs Review and resolve the proposed alternatives within Apple’s stated 30-day period.
- Explicit content is restricted: Review content restrictions if explicit songs appear greyed out.
For a direct transfer, start with Apple Music’s built-in feature and inspect its match review. Consider a third-party service only if it supports the specific categories and limits you need; the available evidence does not establish that one option has a higher match rate than another.
