How to Transfer Overwatch 2 Settings and Enable Cross-Progression

Overwatch 2 cross-progression does not copy your sensitivity or keybinds from console to PC. To move your progression and cosmetics, link the correct Xbox, PlayStation Network, or Nintendo account to the Battle.net account you intend to keep, then confirm the merge in Overwatch 2. Your progression and eligible cosmetics are shared through Battle.net, while gameplay settings remain separate on every platform and must be configured independently.

What Overwatch 2 cross-progression actually does

Cross-progression combines the supported account data from your linked platforms under one Battle.net account. Once the merge is complete, you can sign in on a console or PC and access the shared progression and Hero Gallery content associated with that Battle.net account.

Every Overwatch 2 player needs a Battle.net account, regardless of platform. The Battle.net account is therefore the account you should choose first: it becomes the central identity for the merged progression. Linking a console account to a different Battle.net account than the one you use on PC can put your history and purchases under the wrong destination.

Cross-progression is not a settings-synchronization feature. Blizzard’s cross-progression FAQ states that gameplay settings are kept per platform. Console settings remain separate from PC settings, and settings on different console platforms are also kept separate. A successful merge can therefore give you your heroes, cosmetics, and progression on PC while leaving your mouse sensitivity, controller layout, keybinds, aim-related values, and other gameplay preferences to be set up again.

What you need before starting

  • The Battle.net account that should own the merged Overwatch 2 progression.
  • Access to the Xbox, PlayStation Network, or Nintendo account whose Overwatch 2 history and cosmetics you want to keep.
  • Access to the email, authentication method, or console sign-in needed to verify both accounts.
  • Overwatch 2 installed and updated on the console account you are merging.
  • A record of your current console controls if you want to reproduce them on PC. The merge will not copy those values.

Do not begin by linking whichever account happens to be signed in on the console. First decide which Battle.net account is the permanent destination, then check the console account’s history and cosmetics. Blizzard allows only one account per platform in the merge flow, so an incorrect selection can create a relinking problem rather than a simple undo.

How to enable cross-progression and merge a console account

  1. Sign in to the destination Battle.net account. Use the Battle.net account that should contain your Overwatch 2 progression after the merge. If you use more than one Battle.net account, verify the account name and associated email before continuing.
  2. Open Battle.net Account Settings. Go to Connections and locate the platform account you want to link: Xbox, PlayStation Network, or Nintendo. Start the linking process and complete the platform’s sign-in and authorization prompts.
  3. Alternatively, start from Overwatch 2 on the console. Console players may be shown an on-screen QR code or an alphanumeric code. Follow that prompt to connect the console account to Battle.net, then finish the sign-in and authorization steps shown in the browser or on the account page.
  4. Launch Overwatch 2 on the linked console account. The game should present the account-merge confirmation flow. If no prompt appears, verify that the console profile currently signed in is the one you intended to link and that it is connected to the destination Battle.net account.
  5. Inspect the merge screen carefully. Check the displayed console account, its platform, and the progression or cosmetic history shown by the game. Do not confirm until you are certain this is the account you want to combine. Blizzard says only one account per platform can be linked in this merge flow.
  6. Confirm the merge. Accept the on-screen confirmation to store the linked console progression on Battle.net. The merge is the point at which you commit to the account pairing, so do not treat the confirmation screen as a preview that can always be reversed immediately.
  7. Sign in on each platform. Open Overwatch 2 on PC and on the linked console account using the appropriate Battle.net connection. Your shared progression and eligible cosmetics should appear through Battle.net. Configure gameplay settings separately on each platform.

If you have multiple console accounts on the same platform, stop at the account-selection step and verify which one owns the desired history. Repeatedly linking and unlinking accounts can trigger a cooldown, and support cannot bypass that restriction.

What transfers after the merge

Account data What to expect
Hero Gallery items Blizzard says Hero Gallery items from all platforms appear in the merged Battle.net account. Duplicate cosmetics are combined rather than shown as separate platform inventories.
Overwatch progression Progression associated with the linked console accounts is stored through the merged Battle.net account.
Overwatch Credits and eligible tokens These are handled through the merged account, subject to the platform wallet rules described below.
Custom-game options Custom-game options from each account are retained in the merged account.
Recent Custom/Workshop links Recent links are retained up to Overwatch 2’s maximum supported limit.
Gameplay settings Not synchronized. Settings stay per platform, so console and PC controls must be configured independently.

The distinction between custom-game data and gameplay settings matters. Your saved custom-game options and recent Custom/Workshop links can be retained by the merged account, but that does not make your personal control configuration portable. A custom lobby option is account data; sensitivity and keybinds are platform-specific gameplay settings.

Will sensitivity and keybinds transfer from console to PC?

No. Sensitivity, keybinds, and other gameplay settings do not transfer from console to PC. Blizzard explicitly keeps console gameplay settings separate from PC gameplay settings after a merge. The same rule applies when comparing settings between different console platforms.

Plan the PC setup as a separate configuration task:

  1. Record the console configuration before merging. Write down or capture screenshots of the values you care about, including horizontal and vertical sensitivity, button assignments, controller layouts, and hero-specific overrides if you use them.
  2. Open Overwatch 2’s gameplay or controls settings on PC. Enter the values manually rather than expecting the console profile to populate them.
  3. Recreate hero-specific settings. If you use different controls or sensitivities for individual heroes, check those overrides separately instead of copying only the global profile.
  4. Test in a low-risk environment. Use the practice range or a custom game to confirm movement, aiming, abilities, and communication controls before playing competitive matches.
  5. Keep separate records. Because each platform retains its own settings, save a PC configuration and a console configuration independently. Changing one will not update the other.

A merge can make your cosmetic collection available on PC without making the PC feel like the console version. That is expected behavior, not evidence that the account merge failed.

Account selection, relinking, and cooldowns

Only one account per platform is used in the merge flow

Blizzard’s guidance says the merge flow accepts one account per platform. If you have played on more than one Xbox, PlayStation Network, or Nintendo account, identify the account with the desired progression before confirming. The game’s merge screen is the final opportunity to catch a wrong-platform or wrong-profile selection.

Changing a link may trigger a cooldown

Blizzard Support explains that some account links have cooldowns limiting how often they can be changed. The duration varies by account type, and Customer Support cannot bypass these cooldowns. A failed attempt to attach the wrong console profile can therefore leave you waiting before another change is allowed.

If the wrong console account was linked

Do not keep repeating the merge prompt or create additional Battle.net accounts as a workaround. Use Blizzard’s account-link correction guidance to identify the existing connection and determine the permitted correction path. Repeated prompts can occur when a different console account was previously linked and merged, so the prompt alone is not proof that a new merge is available.

When contacting support is necessary, provide the Battle.net account, the console platform, and the exact console profile currently connected. Support can explain the account state and applicable restriction, but it cannot remove a cooldown that the policy places on the link.

Wallets and virtual currency after cross-progression

Wallet behavior is the main financial exception to otherwise shared progression. After cross-progression is enabled, Battle.net, Xbox, and PlayStation in-game wallets are shared. Nintendo Switch has a platform-specific limitation.

Xbox to PC Shared through the linked Battle.net account after the merge. Recreate PC sensitivity, keybinds, and other gameplay settings. Choose the correct Xbox profile; link changes may be subject to a cooldown.
PlayStation to PC Shared through the linked Battle.net account after the merge. Recreate PC settings independently. Verify the PlayStation Network account on the merge screen; wallet sharing follows Blizzard’s policy.
Nintendo Switch to PC Shared through the linked Battle.net account for eligible progression and cosmetics. Recreate PC settings independently. Currency purchased or redeemed on Switch remains usable for in-game purchases only on Switch.
One console platform to another Shared through Battle.net after the relevant accounts are linked and merged. Settings remain separate between console platforms as well as between console and PC. Only one account per platform is used in the merge flow, and relinking may trigger a cooldown.

Troubleshooting common merge problems

The merge prompt shows the wrong console account

Cancel before confirming. Sign out of the console profile that is shown, verify which profile owns the progression you want, and check the Battle.net Connections page. If a previous account is already linked, follow Blizzard’s account-link correction guidance rather than attempting repeated merges.

Your cosmetics appear, but your controls do not

This is normal. Cosmetics and supported progression are account data, while gameplay settings are per platform. Re-enter the PC controls manually and test them in the practice range or a custom game.

You keep seeing the merge prompt

A repeated prompt can indicate that a different console account was previously linked and merged. Confirm the console profile currently signed in, inspect the Battle.net connection, and avoid cycling through accounts while a cooldown may be active.

Progression is missing on PC

Check that the PC is signed in to the same Battle.net account used as the merge destination. Then confirm that the console merge was completed rather than merely linked. If the destination account or console profile is wrong, stop making additional changes until you have checked the account-link status and any applicable cooldown.

Currency is missing on a non-Switch platform

Determine how the currency was obtained. Currency purchased or redeemed on Nintendo Switch remains limited to Switch for in-game purchases. Currency earned in-game and items bought with virtual currency follow Blizzard’s stated shared-account policy, so those cases should be evaluated separately from the Switch wallet balance.

You cannot change the linked account immediately

Some links have account-type-specific cooldowns. Blizzard Support states that Customer Support cannot bypass them. Wait for the restriction to expire and use the official correction process for the account type instead of repeatedly submitting new link requests.

Pre-confirmation checklist

  • Battle.net is the account you intend to use on PC and as the long-term owner of the merged progression.
  • The displayed console profile owns the history and cosmetics you want.
  • You understand that only one account per platform can be used in the merge flow.
  • You have recorded console sensitivity, keybinds, and other controls that you want to reproduce on PC.
  • You understand the Nintendo Switch wallet limitation before purchasing or redeeming currency there.
  • You are prepared for a possible relinking cooldown if you change the connection later.

After the merge: a practical setup order

  1. Sign in on PC and verify your player progression and Hero Gallery items.
  2. Open the PC gameplay and controls settings and recreate the recorded values.
  3. Test movement, aiming, abilities, and communication controls outside a competitive match.
  4. Sign in on the console and confirm that its separate settings remain as expected.
  5. Check wallet behavior before making another currency purchase, especially if Nintendo Switch is one of the linked platforms.

The successful outcome is twofold: one Battle.net identity carries the supported progression and cosmetics across your linked platforms, while each platform retains its own gameplay configuration. Treat the account merge and the controls setup as separate tasks, and verify the account selection before you commit.
