{64BitSteamID} refers to your numeric Steam account ID. Steam’s configuration identifies SystemData.sav and SaveData*.sav files in this folder. The path is documented by SteamDB’s OCTOPATH TRAVELER cloud-save configuration; SteamDB is a third-party database, not Valve.

How do I transfer my Octopath Traveler save from Steam to GOG?
There is no verified GOG destination path or confirmed compatibility procedure yet. Once the GOG edition is released, this cautious process can help you test a local copy without risking your Steam progress; it does not guarantee the GOG build will load the files.
- Close Octopath Traveler. Let Steam finish any pending cloud synchronization before changing files.
- Back up the full Steam folder. Copy the entire
SaveGamesfolder somewhere separate, preservingSystemData.savand everySaveData*.savfile. Keep this original backup untouched. - Let GOG create its own files. After the GOG release, install and launch the game once. If needed, make a disposable save, exit normally, and let the game create its save folder. This is a cautious troubleshooting step, not a confirmed Octopath-specific requirement.
- Find the folder GOG actually created. Do not assume it matches Steam’s path or borrow a folder location from another game.
- Back up the new GOG files, then test copies. Preserve a copy of the GOG-created files before trying Steam save files in that folder. Do not edit your only Steam or GOG copy.
- Check for cloud prompts before choosing. If a launcher reports a conflict, pause and compare available copies and timestamps. Steam warns that ignoring a cloud conflict can leave local and cloud files out of sync and risk lost progress. You can disable Steam Cloud for an individual game in that game’s properties; only re-enable it after confirming which save is correct.
- Verify in the GOG game. Start the GOG edition and check that the expected party and progress appear before deleting, replacing, or syncing any other files. If the save is not recognized, restore the GOG backup rather than repeatedly overwriting files.
Will the GOG version recognize my Steam save?
That is unresolved before the announced GOG release. The available documentation establishes Steam’s Windows save location and file patterns, but does not establish GOG’s local save path or whether its build accepts Steam’s .sav files. GOG’s product page lists Windows support and cloud saves, but those details do not confirm save-file compatibility. The release is listed as “Coming soon” on GOG’s OCTOPATH TRAVELER product page; RPG Site reported an October 8, 2026 release date.

There is no evidence here that the two storefronts synchronize saves with each other. GOG lists cloud saves as a game feature and says Galaxy is optional; its FAQ states, “GOG Galaxy is used for synchronization of achievements and cloud saves, but its usage is totally optional.” That describes GOG’s own feature, not interoperability with Steam Cloud. Treat cross-store cloud transfer as unconfirmed.

Steam says it synchronizes matching changed files before and after game sessions. If a conflict appears, compare copies before selecting one; do not assume the newer-looking copy is necessarily the one with your desired progress.
