You can try the console’s standard save-transfer route, but a successful Metro Redux save migration is not confirmed by the official sources cited here. Sony lists the PS4 edition as playable on PS5 and documents PS4-to-PS5 data transfer. Xbox documents cloud saves between Xbox One and Series X|S for compatible games. Keep your old save until you have opened the same game edition on the new console and checked your campaign progress.
Transfer a Metro Redux save from PS4 to PS5
Sony’s general transfer process can move PS4 saved data to PS5. Metro Redux’s PlayStation Store listing says the PS4 game is playable on PS5, but neither source confirms that a particular Metro Redux save will transfer and load successfully. Before you start
- Sign in to the same PlayStation account on both consoles.
- Connect the PS4 and PS5 to the same network, update their system software, and synchronize trophies, as Sony advises.
- Keep the PS4 and its save data intact until you confirm that your progress appears on PS5.
Transfer after PS5 setup
- On the PS5, open Settings > System > System Software > Data Transfer.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to connect to your PS4 and transfer the relevant saved data. Sony says this post-setup saved-data transfer applies to the user signed in on the PS5.
- On PS5, launch the same Metro Redux game edition associated with the save. Check whether your Metro 2033 or Metro: Last Light campaign and progress load correctly.
You can also start Sony’s data transfer during PS5 setup. For the broader compatibility context, Sony says the overwhelming majority of PS4 games can be played on PS5 and describes Wi-Fi transfer for digital games and game data. The sources do not identify a separate native PS5 edition of Metro Redux or a game-specific save-import feature, so use the edition that belongs with your existing save.
Transfer a Metro Redux save from Xbox One to Xbox Series X|S
Microsoft’s general route is cloud saves: its backward-compatibility guidance describes cloud save transfer among Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S consoles for select compatible games. It does not specifically name Metro Redux or confirm that a Redux save will load on Series X|S. See Xbox’s backward-compatibility information.

- On your Xbox One, connect to the internet and allow the game save to sync with the cloud under the account you use on Series X|S.
- Sign in to that same account on the Series X|S console and connect it to the internet so the cloud save can sync.
- Launch the same Metro Redux game edition and check your campaign progress before deleting or overwriting anything on the Xbox One.
If your progress does not appear, do not assume the old save has been replaced or that the transfer succeeded. Leave the source console and its data untouched while you check the account and allow synchronization to finish.
Why Metro Exodus save instructions do not apply
The official Metro save-transfer instructions cited here are for Metro Exodus, not Metro Redux. Exodus is separate from Metro 2033 and Metro: Last Light, the two games in Metro Redux. Its chapter-based Xbox transfer limits, PlayStation transfer statement, and chapter-unlock workaround are title-specific; they are not instructions for Redux. The official Metro Exodus next-generation release article and Metro’s game information should not be used to infer Redux save behavior.

What to expect if the save does not appear
The cited platform instructions explain general transfer or cloud-save methods, but do not establish a Metro Redux-specific outcome. If progress is missing, verify that you are using the same platform account and game edition, that the source save remains available, and that any transfer or cloud synchronization has completed. Keep the original console and save data until you have verified the campaign on the destination console; the sources do not establish a guaranteed recovery or Redux-specific import method.
