How to Transfer EPUB Books to an XTEINK X4 Pro

You can transfer EPUB books to an XTEINK X4 Pro in either of two officially documented ways: copy the file from a computer after selecting USB Mode on the reader, or use the XTEINK app’s Import option and then run Cloud Sync on the reader. The X4 Pro’s detailed specifications list EPUB and TXT as document formats. DRM-protected books are not guaranteed to work.

The simplest choice depends on where the EPUB file is already available. USB Mode is the computer route; the phone route requires binding the reader to the XTEINK app and connecting it to Wi-Fi. In either case, transferring a file and confirming that it is a compatible, readable book are separate questions.

Choose a transfer method

Use USB Mode when the EPUB is already on a computer. Use the app route when the file is on a phone and you can bind the reader to the XTEINK app and connect it to Wi-Fi. XTEINK documents both workflows on its X4 Pro product page; its X4 Pro FAQ also describes the transfer options.

Route File starts on Connection and setup Final action on the reader
USB Mode Computer USB connection; select USB Mode Copy the EPUB file to the device
XTEINK app Phone Bind the reader to the app and connect it to Wi-Fi Select Cloud Sync from the home-screen menu

The official instructions do not establish that one method is faster or more reliable than the other. Choose based on where the book file is and which setup is convenient.

Which route should you use?

Start with the device that already has the actual EPUB file. If it is on a computer, USB Mode avoids the app’s binding and Wi-Fi steps. If it is on a phone, the app workflow avoids first moving the file to a computer, but it requires completing both the app’s Import action and Cloud Sync on the reader. These are different workflows, not interchangeable labels for the same step.

If you are deciding between the two, compare the setup you can complete rather than assuming one is inherently faster. XTEINK’s instructions do not provide transfer-speed figures or a reliability comparison. The computer route depends on a data-capable USB connection and the reader appearing on the computer after USB Mode is selected. The phone route depends on binding, Wi-Fi, selecting the device in the app, importing the file, and then syncing from the reader’s menu.

Before transferring: check the file

  • Confirm that you have the actual EPUB file available on the computer or phone you plan to use. The instructions do not describe transferring a book directly from an online bookstore or reading account.
  • Check that the file is EPUB and not a different format that merely came from the same library. The X4 Pro’s detailed official specifications list EPUB and TXT under documents.
  • If the book is protected by DRM, do not assume that it will transfer or open successfully. The reviewed manufacturer instructions do not guarantee DRM compatibility.
  • You do not need to buy a larger memory card just to transfer an EPUB. XTEINK lists a 16 GB microSD card as included and expansion up to 256 GB on the product page.

It helps to distinguish a file’s location, format, and protection. Location determines which transfer route is convenient. Format determines whether it appears in the manufacturer’s listed document types. DRM is a separate compatibility concern: an EPUB can have the expected file extension and still not be guaranteed to open if it is protected. A successful copy therefore does not, by itself, establish that the X4 Pro can read the book.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The detailed format list is narrower than the formats some readers may have collected from different stores or devices. Do not assume that a file is supported just because it is an ebook or because another reader can open it. If your library depends on formats beyond EPUB or TXT, or on store-specific files, check with XTEINK about the exact format and source before relying on the X4 Pro for those books.

Transfer an EPUB from a computer with USB Mode

  1. Connect the X4 Pro to the computer using a USB connection. The product specifications list a pogo-pin port and describe a magnetic charging adapter, but the transfer instructions do not identify a particular cable or adapter as a data connection. Use a connection that supports data; do not assume every charging cable can transfer files.
  2. On the X4 Pro’s home screen, open the menu in the upper-right corner.
  3. Select USB Mode.
  4. Wait for the X4 Pro to appear on the computer. Then copy the compatible EPUB file to the device. XTEINK’s FAQ says, “Once X4 Pro appears on your computer, copy the book file to the device.”
  5. After copying, eject or safely remove the device using your computer’s normal process before disconnecting it. The cited XTEINK instructions do not specify a required destination folder for book files, so do not rely on an undocumented folder path.

The order matters: connect the reader, choose USB Mode from the home-screen menu, and then wait for it to show on the computer. If you begin by searching computer folders before selecting USB Mode, the device may not yet be available to copy files to. Once it appears, use the computer’s normal file-copy action to copy the EPUB to the device; XTEINK does not name a special destination directory in the instructions described here.

Do not mistake charging for file transfer. The product specifications mention the pogo-pin port and a magnetic charging adapter, but they do not identify a particular cable or adapter as the required data accessory. A charging connection that supplies power alone will not be enough for copying files. If the computer does not show the reader, confirm USB Mode first and then check whether the USB connection supports data. The official material does not establish a specific cable model to buy.

Once the file has copied, safely removing the device is a prudent way to finish the computer’s file operation before disconnecting. That is a general computer practice, not a special XTEINK menu step. If you cannot find the EPUB in the reader afterward, do not guess at a folder path: the official instructions reviewed here do not specify one. Check the file format and DRM status, and consult XTEINK if the book’s format or source is uncertain.

If the reader does not appear on the computer, first confirm that USB Mode is selected and that the USB connection supports data, not only charging. If the file copies but does not show in the library or open, check the format and any DRM restrictions before repeating the transfer.

Transfer an EPUB from a phone with the XTEINK app

  1. Bind the X4 Pro to the XTEINK app. The official workflow requires binding, but the cited instructions do not specify additional account or operating-system requirements.
  2. Connect the reader to Wi-Fi.
  3. In the app, open Devices, select X4 Pro, and tap Import.
  4. Choose the compatible EPUB file from the phone.
  5. On the X4 Pro’s home screen, open the upper-right menu and select Cloud Sync.

The import and sync are separate actions in the documented flow: selecting a file with Import is followed by selecting Cloud Sync on the reader. If the book does not appear, verify the reader is bound to the app, has Wi-Fi access, and that you completed Cloud Sync after importing.

Think of the phone process as a sequence with two parts. First, use the app to select the device and import a file from the phone. Second, use the X4 Pro itself to request Cloud Sync from its home-screen menu. Stopping after tapping Import leaves out the reader-side action specified by XTEINK. Likewise, choosing Cloud Sync does not replace selecting and importing the book in the app.

Before starting, make sure the EPUB is available on the phone you are using, rather than assuming the app can fetch it from an online library. The documented instructions describe selecting a file from the phone; they do not explain direct transfer from a store account. If a file selection succeeds but the reader does not show the book, check that you selected the X4 Pro in the app, that the reader is bound and connected to Wi-Fi, and that you ran Cloud Sync on the reader after importing.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The official steps do not state app availability by operating system, account behavior, or additional phone requirements. Avoid treating a particular operating-system version or account procedure as necessary unless XTEINK’s current instructions confirm it. If the app interface or firmware workflow has changed, check the current product guidance rather than substituting unverified steps.

Supported formats and DRM limits

XTEINK’s detailed X4 Pro specifications list these file types:

Category Formats listed
Documents EPUB, TXT
Images JPG, BMP
Fonts BIN, XTF

This is the detailed format list in the manufacturer’s product specifications. The X4 Pro FAQ advises readers whose libraries depend on PDF, MOBI, PNG, store-specific formats, or DRM-protected books to confirm compatibility with XTEINK support. That caution is not the same as a definitive claim that every format outside the detailed list is unsupported; it means you should verify before relying on it.

Designed for everyday portability, XTEINK X3 delivers up to 10 hours of reading time, supporting about a week of casual reading on a single charge. For safe charging, use a locally certified charger and keep conductive objects away from the charging pin contacts during charging to help prevent short circuits.
  • Magnetic-Ready Design with Pogo-Pin Charging: XTEINK X3 includes an Adhesive Metal Ring to enable magnetic attachment on compatible non-magnetic phone cases or surfaces, expanding compatibility for everyday use. The magnetic pogo-pin charging design maintains a clean, minimalist appearance while supporting convenient daily charging.

In particular, an EPUB extension alone does not establish that a protected book will work. If DRM matters for your library, ask XTEINK about the specific source and protection before spending time moving the file. Do not remove or bypass a book’s protections as a troubleshooting step.

For the question “Can I transfer an EPUB?”, the official specification lists EPUB as a document format and the manufacturer documents both USB and app transfer routes. For the separate question “Will every EPUB open?”, the available official instructions do not make that guarantee, especially for DRM-protected books. Keep those questions distinct when diagnosing a problem: the copy route may have worked even if the format, protection, or particular file is not compatible.

The FAQ’s advice on PDF, MOBI, PNG, and store-specific formats is to confirm compatibility with XTEINK. It is better to get a direct answer about your exact file than to infer support from a product listing elsewhere, a file’s general ebook label, or a format supported by another device. The detailed X4 Pro specification lists EPUB and TXT as document formats; JPG and BMP are listed as images, and BIN and XTF as fonts.

Can you use Calibre?

Calibre’s manual describes a generic Connect to folder workflow for e-readers that appear as USB disks. That documentation is general and does not confirm a dedicated X4 Pro driver or a verified X4 Pro-specific workflow. You could consider it only if the reader appears to the computer as a disk, and treat it as a generic possibility rather than an officially documented integration. See the calibre User Manual, Release 9.16.0 for its general device documentation.

For the documented X4 Pro procedure, use USB Mode and copy the EPUB file directly. This avoids assuming that Calibre will identify the reader as a supported model.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

If you already manage books in Calibre, the relevant distinction is between a general folder-based feature and device-specific support. Calibre’s manual explains that generic workflow for devices that export as USB disks. The X4 Pro instructions described here do not confirm a dedicated Calibre driver, a device profile, or a tested integration. Do not interpret a generic Calibre feature as proof that the software will recognize the X4 Pro or handle its library in a particular way.

You can treat Connect to folder as a possibility only if the reader appears to the computer as a disk, but that would be a generic method rather than a confirmed X4 Pro procedure. If your immediate goal is simply to add one compatible EPUB, the manufacturer’s directly described action is to select USB Mode and copy the file to the device. No special Calibre setup is necessary to follow that documented copy procedure.

Troubleshoot a book that does not appear or open

What happens What to check
The computer does not show the X4 Pro Confirm USB Mode is selected from the home-screen menu, then check that the USB connection supports data rather than charging only.
The file copies, but the book is absent from the library Confirm the file is a compatible EPUB or TXT. The manufacturer’s instructions do not state a required destination folder, so avoid assuming an unlisted folder is necessary.
The book is listed but will not open Check the file format and whether it is DRM-protected. Compatibility for DRM-protected books is not guaranteed in the reviewed instructions.
The phone import does not reach the reader Check binding to the XTEINK app and the reader’s Wi-Fi connection; make sure you selected Import in the app and then Cloud Sync on the reader.
The book uses PDF, MOBI, PNG, or a store-specific format Ask XTEINK to confirm compatibility for that format and book source. The detailed specifications list EPUB and TXT as document formats, while the FAQ calls for confirmation for other formats.

Work from the symptom rather than repeating the entire transfer blindly. A computer that does not show the reader points first to USB Mode or a data-capable connection. A phone import that does not reach the reader points first to the ordered app steps: binding, Wi-Fi, selecting the X4 Pro, Import, and Cloud Sync. A file that has copied but does not appear or open raises a different question: whether the file type and protection are compatible.

Do not try to solve an unknown folder issue by moving the book through a series of invented directories. XTEINK’s transfer guidance says to copy the book file to the device but does not name a required book folder. Similarly, do not assume that renaming an unfamiliar format to .epub will make it compatible; the official format list and compatibility cautions do not support that workaround.

If the file is EPUB and the transfer steps were completed but the book still fails, the official information does not provide a more specific repair sequence. Note the book’s source and whether it is DRM-protected, then ask XTEINK to confirm compatibility. This is particularly important for books tied to a store-specific system, because the FAQ specifically recommends contacting support about such formats and DRM-protected titles.

Storage: when a larger card matters

The product page states that the X4 Pro includes a 16 GB microSD card and supports expansion up to 256 GB. Those are manufacturer product specifications, not a requirement for transferring an EPUB. Consider additional storage only if your library needs more room; the cited information does not establish compatibility for particular replacement cards beyond the stated maximum.

For a single transfer, the included 16 GB card means that buying a larger card is not a prerequisite. Expansion is an optional storage consideration for a larger library, and XTEINK states a maximum of 256 GB. The product information cited here does not recommend a particular brand or establish support for a card beyond that capacity. Do not treat an optional storage upgrade as a fix for a file that does not appear or open; check format, DRM, and transfer steps first.

Official workflows and firmware behavior can change. For the currently documented steps, consult XTEINK’s X4 Pro product page and X4 Pro FAQ. XTEINK’s product specifications accessed in 2026 list a 16 GB included microSD card and expansion up to 256 GB.

Can I use Calibre with the X4 Pro?

Calibre’s manual describes a generic Connect to folder workflow for devices that appear as USB disks, but that does not confirm a dedicated X4 Pro driver or a verified device-specific workflow. The documented X4 Pro method is to copy the EPUB directly in USB Mode.

Do I need a larger microSD card to transfer books?

No. XTEINK lists a 16 GB microSD card as included and expansion up to 256 GB. A larger card is optional for storage needs, not a stated requirement for transferring an EPUB.

The Bottom Line

To transfer an EPUB to an XTEINK X4 Pro, use USB Mode and copy it from a computer, or import it with the XTEINK app and finish with Cloud Sync on the reader. The detailed specifications list EPUB and TXT as document formats, but DRM compatibility is not guaranteed. The included 16 GB microSD card is enough to get started; XTEINK lists expansion up to 256 GB.
