How to Transfer Data to an OPPO F35 from an Old Android Phone

The simplest supported way to move data to an OPPO F35 from another Android phone is OPPO Clone Phone. On the F35, open Clone Phone, select This is the new device, and choose Other Android. On the old handset, open or install OPPO Clone Phone, select This is the old phone, scan the QR code shown on the F35, approve the local connection, select what you want to move, and start the migration.

Prepare first: OPPO warns that apps and app data already on the F35 can be overwritten by data from the old phone. Back up anything already on the F35 before pairing the devices.

What you need before starting

Clone Phone transfers directly between the two handsets over a local wireless connection. You do not need to buy a cable, storage card, or separate transfer utility for this workflow. The F35 specification lists a USB Type-C port, storage-card support, and an in-box USB data cable in some markets, but those items are not required for the QR-code method.

  • Both phones: Charge them sufficiently, unlock them, and keep them beside each other for the entire migration.
  • Old Android phone: Have Google Play available if Clone Phone is not already installed. OPPO says the app can be found by searching for “OPPO Clone Phone” in Google Play or by using OPPO’s download option.
  • OPPO F35: Complete enough of the initial setup to open Clone Phone and reach the new-device screen.
  • Existing F35 content: Copy or otherwise back up anything already stored on the F35 that you cannot afford to lose. OPPO’s warning concerns existing apps and app data on the receiving phone.
  • Wireless settings: Turn on Wi-Fi on the old phone. OPPO also advises enabling the F35’s personal hotspot so the phones can create their local transfer connection.

Do not begin while either phone is likely to lock, run out of power, or be taken out of range. A transfer can include many files, so keeping the screens available and the devices close removes avoidable interruptions.

How to transfer data with OPPO Clone Phone

1. Back up the F35 before receiving anything

The F35 is the receiving phone in this process. Before opening the pairing screen, save any photos, documents, messages, or other information that is already on it and matters to you. OPPO states that “all the existing apps and app data on the new phone will be overwritten by data from the old phone.” Treat the old handset as the source and the F35 as the destination; do not assume that destination content will be merged safely.

2. Open Clone Phone on the F35

  1. Launch Clone Phone on the F35.
  2. Tap This is the new device.
  3. When the phone-type choices appear, select Other Android.

The F35 now prepares a connection and displays a QR code. Leave this screen open while you configure the old phone.

3. Open or install Clone Phone on the old Android phone

  1. On the old Android handset, open OPPO Clone Phone if it is installed.
  2. If it is not installed, find “OPPO Clone Phone” in Google Play or use OPPO’s download option, then open the app.
  3. Choose This is the old phone.

These role selections matter. The old phone generates the sending side of the migration, while the F35 remains the new device waiting to receive it.

4. Pair the phones with the QR code

  1. Use the old phone’s Clone Phone screen to scan the QR code shown on the F35.
  2. When Android asks whether the old phone may join the local Wi-Fi connection, accept the prompt.
  3. Allow Clone Phone to find and connect to devices on the local network when that permission is requested.
  4. Confirm that Wi-Fi is enabled on the old phone and that the F35’s personal hotspot is enabled, as OPPO recommends.

Keep both handsets close together while the connection is negotiated. This is a direct local link rather than a requirement to upload your entire phone to a remote service first.

  • 163.2 x 77.0 x 8.7 mm or 9.1 mm

5. Select the information to move

After pairing, Clone Phone presents the data categories available for these two devices. Review the selection instead of automatically choosing everything. Include the categories you need, and leave out items that you have already copied or do not want on the F35.

The exact list is not identical on every Android phone. OPPO notes that menus and settings can differ by device and app version, so the wording of the final selection and start control may vary. Look for the on-screen control labelled along the lines of Continue, Migrate, or Start after you have reviewed the categories.

6. Start and wait for the completion message

  1. Tap the on-screen continue, migrate, or start control.
  2. Keep the phones nearby and avoid switching off Wi-Fi, the F35 hotspot, or the Clone Phone screens.
  3. Let the app finish copying the selected categories.
  4. Use the completion message in Clone Phone as the point at which to disconnect the phones.

Do not judge completion only by a few files appearing in the gallery. Wait for Clone Phone to report that the migration has finished, then inspect the destination in the normal apps.

What Clone Phone can transfer

OPPO describes a range of transferable categories, but the actual choices depend on the old handset, the F35, and the Clone Phone version. The following table separates the categories OPPO identifies from items that require separate handling.

Rank #3
OPPO Reno16 F Dual-SIM 256GB ROM + 8GB RAM (GSM Only | No CDMA) Factory Unlocked 5G Smartphone (Pop White) - International Version

  • Rear: 50 MP, f/1.8, 26mm (wide), 1/2.0", 0.8µm, PDAF, OIS, 50 MP, f/2.8, 92mm (telephoto), 1/3.13", 0.56µm, PDAF, OIS, 3.5x optical zoom, 8 MP, f/2.2, 15mm, 116˚ (ultrawide), 1/4.0", 1.12µm, AF, Front: 50 MP, f/2.0, 18mm, 100˚ (ultrawide), 1/2.88", 0.61µm, AF
  • 158.2 x 74.5 x 8.4 mm or 8.6 mm, 194 g or 196 g (6.84 oz)
Category Clone Phone treatment What to check afterward
Contacts Listed by OPPO as a transferable category. Open the contacts app and check that the expected names and numbers are present.
Photos Listed as transferable. Inspect recent and older albums, not just the most recent images.
Messages Included in OPPO’s general category list when supported by the devices. Check conversations that you need for records or authentication.
Call history Included in OPPO’s general overview. Confirm that the recent calls list contains the entries you expect.
Audio and video Included in OPPO’s general overview. Open several files to check that they are readable on the F35.
Calendar events Included in OPPO’s general overview. Check future appointments and any reminders that matter.
System settings Included in OPPO’s general overview where the phones support them. Review settings rather than assuming every preference has an equivalent on ColorOS.
Alarms and wallpapers Included in OPPO’s general overview where available. Confirm that alarms are enabled at the intended times.
Apps Apps can be offered as a category, subject to compatibility. Open important apps and complete any sign-in or setup they request.

A category appearing in the selection screen does not guarantee that every item inside it will be identical on the F35. Android versions, app versions, account requirements, and manufacturer-specific formats can affect what is available.

Items that will not transfer completely

Plan for a second setup pass. OPPO identifies several kinds of information that Clone Phone cannot migrate:

  • Hardware-linked items: Transit or access cards tied to the original phone’s hardware cannot simply be cloned to the F35.
  • Security data: Fingerprints and lock-screen passwords are not carried over. Set up the F35’s screen lock and biometric unlock yourself.
  • System-clone data: Data belonging to a phone’s system-clone feature is excluded.
  • Incompatible apps or app data: An app may be copied only when the destination supports it, and some app data will not work on a different device.
  • Credentials: Even when an app itself arrives, expect to enter its account details again where the service requires fresh authentication.

These limitations are normal for a phone-to-phone migration. Keep the old handset available until you have confirmed access to accounts, cards, and other hardware-dependent services on the F35.

What to do immediately after migration

Check the files that matter most

Start with irreplaceable information rather than trying to inspect every file at once. Verify a sample of contacts, several photo albums, important message threads, recent calls, upcoming calendar events, audio, and video. Open files instead of checking only their names or item counts.

OPPO Reno15 F Dual-SIM 256GB ROM + 8GB RAM (GSM Only | No CDMA) Factory Unlocked 5G Smartphone (Aurora Blue) - International Version

  • 256GB Storage, 8GB RAM, microSDXC
  • Android 16, ColorOS 16, Qualcomm SM6450 Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 (4 nm), Octa-core (4x2.2 GHz Cortex-A78 & 4x1.8 GHz Cortex-A55)
  • Rear: 50 MP, f/1.8, 26mm (wide), 1/1.95", 0.8µm, PDAF, OIS, 8 MP, f/2.2, 16mm, 112˚ (ultrawide), 1/4.0", 1.12µm, 2 MP (macro), Front: 50 MP, f/2.0, 100˚, 18mm (ultrawide), AF

Recreate security and account access

Set a new lock-screen password or pattern on the F35 and enroll fingerprints again if you use them. Open your most important apps, sign in when prompted, and confirm that notifications and account access work. Hardware-linked transit or access cards need to be added through their own service on the F35; Clone Phone cannot reproduce the original phone’s security material.

Keep the old phone until the checks are complete

Do not erase or reset the old handset immediately after Clone Phone reports success. Retain it while you verify the destination, because incompatible apps, missing credentials, or a category you did not select may require you to consult the source phone again.

Troubleshooting the Clone Phone connection

The QR code will not scan

  • Confirm that the F35 is still on This is the new device and displaying its QR code.
  • On the old phone, return to Clone Phone and select This is the old phone before scanning.
  • Hold the old phone steady and keep both screens bright enough for the camera to read the code.
  • Restart the pairing sequence if the code screen has timed out, then scan the newly displayed code.

The old phone cannot join the local connection

  • Turn on Wi-Fi on the old phone.
  • Make sure the F35’s personal hotspot is enabled, following OPPO’s connection guidance.
  • Accept the prompt to join the local Wi-Fi connection.
  • Allow Clone Phone to find and connect to devices on the local network.
  • Move the phones closer together and retry pairing.

Menu names and permission screens can vary by Android release and manufacturer. Read the prompt on the phone rather than looking for an identical layout.

A category or app is missing from the selection

Clone Phone’s available categories depend on both devices and the app version. If a category is not offered, it is not part of this particular migration session. For apps that do appear but do not function afterward, reinstall or configure the app through its own account and setup process; incompatible app data cannot be forced into a working state by repeating the same transfer.

The migration appears incomplete

  • Wait for Clone Phone’s completion confirmation before disconnecting.
  • Check whether the missing item belonged to a category you left unselected.
  • Inspect the destination app itself, because a transferred app may still require sign-in or additional setup.
  • Use the old phone as the reference while checking contacts, albums, messages, calls, and calendar entries.

If a particular item is listed by OPPO as hardware-linked, security data, system-clone data, or incompatible app data, a second Clone Phone attempt will not make that item transferable.

F35 model and software context

OPPO India identifies the destination as the OPPO F35 5G (CPH2931) and lists ColorOS 16.0 on its specifications page. OPPO’s Clone Phone instructions are general guidance for moving from an old phone to a new OPPO phone rather than a page written only for the F35. Consequently, the names and positions of menus may differ on your handset or on the old Android phone.

The F35’s USB Type-C port, storage-card support, and any included USB data cable do not change the QR-code workflow described here. The supported procedure pairs the phones locally through Clone Phone, so purchasing an additional cable or card is not a prerequisite.
