Use Samsung Smart Switch on your Galaxy S25 Ultra to bring over supported data from an Android phone or iPhone. You can transfer wirelessly or by cable; iPhone owners can also import selected content from iCloud, and Samsung documents a PC or Mac backup-and-restore option. What transfers depends on the old phone and method, and Smart Switch does not clone every app’s private data or login.
Before you start
- Charge both phones. Samsung advises at least 20% battery for cable transfers.
- Keep the old phone nearby, unlocked, and available to approve connection prompts.
- Update or open Smart Switch on both devices if prompted. Menu wording can vary by software version, so follow the on-screen options for receiving data on the S25 Ultra and sending data from the old phone.
- For wireless pairing, enable Bluetooth and follow any network prompts. Samsung’s wireless troubleshooting guidance says to keep the phones within 4 inches of each other.
Smart Switch can transfer supported contacts, calendar entries, messages, call history, photos, videos, documents, and some settings or apps. The available categories differ by operating system, connected device, and transfer method. See Samsung’s content compatibility and exclusions guide.

Choose a transfer method

Transfer from an Android phone wirelessly
- On the S25 Ultra, open Smart Switch—if needed, find it through Settings—and choose the option to receive data.
- Choose Galaxy/Android as the source, then select wireless transfer when offered.
- On the old Android phone, open Smart Switch, choose the option to send data, and select wireless.
- Approve the connection prompt on the old phone. Keep both devices close while Smart Switch scans the available content.
- Review the categories on the S25 Ultra. Choose everything available or select a subset, then start the transfer and leave the phones undisturbed until it finishes.
Samsung describes wireless transfer as a convenient way to copy data to a new device. Its Smart Switch transfer instructions and wireless troubleshooting guidance cover setup and connection issues.

Transfer from an Android phone by cable
- On the S25 Ultra, open Smart Switch and choose to receive data from a Galaxy/Android device.
- Connect the phones using a compatible cable. Samsung’s documented USB-C-to-USB-C setup plugs directly into the new Galaxy; some other connector combinations need a USB-OTG adapter.
- On the old phone, open Smart Switch, choose to send data, and select cable transfer. Accept any connection prompts.
- On the S25 Ultra, review the scanned content, choose what to transfer, and start.
Check the ports on both phones and any cable you already own before buying an accessory; a new cable is not automatically necessary. Samsung says transfer time depends on the amount of media being moved. Its cable-transfer instructions explain supported connections.

Transfer iPhone data to the Galaxy S25 Ultra
Smart Switch offers a cable route and an iCloud import route. On the S25 Ultra, open Smart Switch, choose to receive data, and select iPhone/iPad as the source. The categories available depend on which route you use.
Use a cable
- Connect the iPhone to the S25 Ultra with a compatible cable. Samsung’s documented Lightning-to-USB-C setup connects directly to the Galaxy.
- Unlock the iPhone and approve any prompt asking you to trust or allow the connection.
- Review the content Smart Switch finds on the Galaxy, select what you want, and begin the transfer.
Import from iCloud
- On the Galaxy, select iPhone/iPad as the source and choose the iCloud import option.
- Sign in to the Apple account used on the iPhone and complete the verification flow.
- Select the available content to import and start the process.
Samsung notes that content availability varies by method and that DRM-protected content may not transfer. Follow Samsung’s content guidance and Smart Switch setup instructions for the categories supported by your connection.

Use a PC or Mac if direct transfer is not practical
- Install Samsung Smart Switch on a compatible PC or Mac and connect the old phone.
- Use the computer app to back up the old phone.
- Connect the Galaxy S25 Ultra and use Smart Switch to restore the backup, choosing the available content to bring over.
Samsung’s US computer-transfer guide specifies Windows 10 or later and macOS 10.9 or later and says Chromebooks are not supported. Check that guide for current operating-system and app compatibility before relying on this route.

What to check after the transfer
- Sign in to the Google, Apple, work, or other accounts that sync your information. Samsung says data from synced accounts is not copied by Smart Switch but should appear after you sign in to the account on the new phone.
- Open important apps and check their data. Information stored privately inside an app or synced through the app’s own service may need a separate sign-in, backup, or restore process.
- Check the S25 Ultra’s photos, messages, contacts, and files to confirm the content you selected arrived. If something is missing, consult Samsung’s list of transferable content and exclusions; support varies by source device and transfer method.
