The best way to move data to a Motorola Razr+ depends on whether your old phone is Android or iPhone. Copy Android data during setup over Wi-Fi or restore a Google backup. For an iPhone, use the Razr+ setup cable transfer for eligible local content, or import supported iCloud data after setup. Keep the old phone until you have checked the transfer.

Motorola’s current help page is labeled for the Razr Plus 2026, while its user guide covers the Razr family. Menu labels may differ by model year or software version; follow the Razr+ screen prompts if yours do not match the paths below.

Copy data from an Android phone during setup
- Charge and turn on both phones. Begin setup on the Razr+, choose a language, and connect it to Wi-Fi.
- Continue through Android Setup. When prompted, choose to copy from the old phone or restore from a Google Account backup, then select the apps and data to bring over. For a phone-to-phone copy, connect both phones to the same Wi-Fi network.
- Wait for setup to finish, then check contacts, messages, photos, and other important content on the Razr+.
Motorola says the Android transfer can include apps and app data, music, photos and videos, Google accounts, contacts stored on the phone or SIM, text messages and attachments, most phone settings, wallpaper, and call history. It lists downloads such as PDFs, apps installed outside Google Play, non-Google accounts, some non-Google contacts and calendars, and ringtones as items that do not copy. Motorola says to tap the Android Setup notification to finish setup. The Razr family guide also documents a Settings route to restart copying: open Settings and follow the copy-data prompts. The exact labels can vary by software version. Motorola help · Razr family user guide

Copy data from an iPhone during Razr+ setup
- Charge both phones and have a suitable data cable ready. Motorola’s current instructions specify a USB-C cable; some older iPhones need a Lightning-to-USB-C cable. Sign in to a Google Account during the transfer.
- Start Razr+ setup. When offered the option to set up using another device, choose iPhone, connect the Razr+ to Wi-Fi, and continue to Copy apps & data.
- Connect the phones with the cable. Approve the iPhone’s trust prompt, choose the content to copy, and tap Copy. Keep the iPhone unlocked; if it locks, unlock it to resume. A large transfer may take several hours.
- Open the relevant apps on the Razr+ and confirm that the selected data arrived before erasing or trading in the iPhone.
The cable method transfers photos and videos physically stored on the iPhone, according to Motorola. It does not fetch photos and videos that exist only in iCloud; use the iCloud method below for supported cloud-held data. Google Photos content becomes available by signing in to that Google Photos account.
Motorola lists FaceTime calls and voice call history, iMessage effects, emergency alert messages, locked Notes, and the iPhone’s default wallpaper among items that do not transfer. Its guide advises turning off iMessage and FaceTime for the cable transfer, and deregistering iMessage after migration so messages are not sent to an old iMessage address instead of reaching the Razr+. Import iCloud data after Razr+ setup
Use this route if setup is complete or if the content you need is stored in iCloud. Motorola documents importing contacts, calendar events, notes, documents, and media. First, make sure the desired data has synced to iCloud and is available there. For iOS 16.2 or later, Motorola says Access iCloud Data on the Web may need to be enabled.
- Keep the Razr+ charged or plugged in, connect it to strong Wi-Fi, and sign in to your Google Account on the Motorola phone.
- Open Settings > Back up or copy data > Get your iCloud data. Labels can differ by software version.
- Authenticate with your Apple Account and verification code, choose the data types to import, and start migration.
- Check the destination apps for the imported data. Large collections can be migrated in batches.
Motorola lists Google Contacts for contacts, Google Calendar for calendar events, Google Photos (iCloud tab) for media, Moto Notes for notes, Recorder, and Google Files (iCloud tab) for documents. Check the Razr+ before wiping the old phone
- Open the apps that hold your most important data—such as Photos, Files, Messages, Contacts, and Calendar—and verify the content is present.
- Look for duplicate contacts; Motorola notes that copied iPhone data is merged with existing data rather than replacing it, and changed settings are not overwritten.
- Confirm content that may not transfer, including Android downloads or non-Play Store apps, and iPhone-only excluded items, using the old phone or the relevant cloud service.
- Keep the old phone until you have checked both transferred data and any files sourced from Google or iCloud.
If an iPhone transfer pauses, unlock the iPhone and let it resume. For an iCloud import, check that the categories you want have synced to iCloud and that the Razr+ remains on a strong Wi-Fi connection. Motorola Razr family user guide · Motorola transfer help
