For a phone, transfer clips through DJI Mimo or connect the camera to an OTG-supported phone over USB-C. For a computer, connect the camera by USB-C or remove the card and use a card reader. To protect your footage, keep the card unchanged until you have copied the files to another device, made a second copy on separate storage, and checked that the copies open.
Where Osmo Pocket 3 footage is stored
The camera records to the microSD card inserted in the device; DJI says the Pocket 3 has no built-in storage. The Osmo Pocket 3 support page lists support for cards up to 1 TB and recommended models. DJI’s beginner’s guide recommends at least UHS-I Speed Grade 3 for optimal transfer speed. Check DJI’s current specifications and recommended models when choosing a card; capacity and speed class are separate considerations.

Choose a transfer route
| Route | Best for | What you need to know |
|---|---|---|
| DJI Mimo over Wi-Fi and Bluetooth | Browsing and downloading selected clips on a phone | Connect the camera to the app; DJI does not state a transfer-speed figure. DJI FAQ |
| USB-C OTG to a phone | Direct wired phone transfer | The phone must support OTG, and OTG connection must be selected in the camera’s system settings. DJI FAQ |
| USB-C to a computer | Transferring directly from the camera | Connect the camera to the computer and access its storage. DJI does not specify a required operating system or transfer rate. DJI FAQ |
| Card reader to a computer | Copying multiple files from the card | Requires a compatible reader; DJI recommends this approach for quickly exporting multiple files. DJI export guide |
Transfer footage to a phone with DJI Mimo
- Turn on Osmo Pocket 3 and connect it to DJI Mimo. Enable Bluetooth and Wi-Fi for the app connection.
- Open playback in Mimo, select the photos or videos you want, and download them to the phone.
This route lets you browse and choose clips in the phone app. DJI does not publish a transfer-speed figure for it. For current phone and operating-system compatibility details, check the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 downloads page.
Transfer footage to a phone over USB-C OTG
- In the camera’s system settings, select the OTG connection option.
- Connect the camera to an OTG-supported phone with a USB-C cable, then access and copy the footage.
This method depends on OTG support in the phone. DJI’s FAQ documents the connection route but does not specify a cable speed or transfer rate.

Transfer footage to a computer
Connect the camera by USB-C
Connect Osmo Pocket 3 to the computer with a USB-C cable and access the camera storage to copy files. DJI documents this as a file-transfer option. Its reviewed guidance does not state a required operating system, cable specification, or speed benchmark.
Use a microSD card reader
- Power off the camera before removing the microSD card.
- Insert the card into a compatible reader connected to the computer.
- Copy the footage you want into a folder on the computer, leaving the original card contents untouched until you have verified the copy.
DJI’s Osmo Series Footage Export Guide recommends a card reader for quickly exporting multiple files. The source does not quantify the speed difference.

Make and verify a backup before reusing the card
A transfer to one phone or computer gives you another copy, but it is not by itself a separate backup if that is the only destination. Use the following workflow:
- Keep the microSD card as the original while you copy the selected files to a phone or computer.
- Make a second copy on separate storage, such as another drive.
- Check that the copied files are present and open correctly; for a large transfer, sample files from different parts of the copy.
- Only after verification should you consider formatting or reusing the camera card.
This is practical file-preservation advice, not a special DJI backup feature. DJI documents export methods, while the second-copy and verification steps help reduce the risk of losing footage through a failed transfer or a problem with one device.

Use the current DJI app guidance
DJI identifies Mimo as its phone app for connecting, syncing, editing, and sharing. App compatibility can change, so consult the official downloads page for your phone and operating system. DJI says LightCut updates and feature maintenance ended in September 2026 and advises using DJI Mimo or DJI Fly instead for a smooth editing experience; LightCut is not the recommended current option in that guidance.
