To check whether a Steam deal is genuinely good, look up the game on SteamDB and compare its current price with the price history for your own currency. For future drops, use a SteamDB watchlist or import your Steam wishlist; Steam’s own wishlist notifications can provide a useful backup, but they have eligibility conditions and are not guaranteed for every price change.
Check a game’s price history on SteamDB
- Go to SteamDB and search for the game’s name.
- Open the game’s page and choose its prices tab to see the price table and graph. SteamDB also provides price information for bundles and packages.
- Read the history in the currency relevant to your Steam account. Compare today’s price with previous sale prices, including whether the same price has appeared more than once.
A discount percentage by itself does not tell you whether the current price is unusually low. The historical prices provide the context: a large discount may still be higher than an earlier sale price.

Check what “lowest price” means
A price low is meaningful only alongside the period and region it covers. SteamDB says its tracked price history reaches back to 2012 and covers 41 Steam currencies. That gives a longer comparison window than a tracker whose records began recently, but check the relevant currency rather than assuming prices are identical across countries.

Its page says it records prices daily across seven regions from July 2, 2026, and performs live checks across 12 regions; its displayed low is limited to records since that start date. Treat that figure as a low within its recorded period, not necessarily an all-time low. Compare each service’s stated currency or region and history window before drawing a conclusion.

Regional prices are useful for understanding the price available to you. Do not change your Steam region to access another country’s pricing: SteamDashboard warns that doing so to obtain lower prices violates Steam’s Terms of Service.
Track future price changes
SteamDB watchlist or wishlist import
SteamDB supports watchlists for account holders and lets users manually import a Steam wishlist. Its help page says price changes are tracked in real time and detected within minutes of a change on Steam. Set up a watchlist for games you are considering, or import your wishlist if you already use it to keep track of titles.

Price history can help you decide what price you would be comfortable paying, but it cannot predict the next sale. Publishers choose discounts, and SteamDB says it cannot know in advance which games will be discounted or at what prices.

Use Steam wishlist notifications as a backup
Valve’s Steamworks wishlist documentation says discount notifications may be sent when a discount is at least 20%, applies to the lowest-priced package, and lasts more than eight hours. These requirements mean a smaller discount or one that does not meet the package and duration conditions may not trigger a notification.
Delivery also depends on account settings and timing. Valve says users need a verified email address and must allow the relevant notifications. Emails can take hours to arrive, may be delayed during high-volume periods, and cooldowns are roughly one to two weeks, with the possibility of longer waits when demand is high. Keep wishlist alerts enabled if they are convenient, but rely on a dedicated tracker when you want to monitor specific prices.

What about Steam’s own price-history feature?
On April 16, 2026, PC Gamer reported that strings found in Steam’s backend could point to a 30-day price-history feature in the United States. The report also cautioned that backend strings do not prove that a feature has launched in Steam’s live client. It should therefore be treated as unconfirmed, not as an option available to every Steam user. See PC Gamer’s report for the dated account.
