What has CD PROJEKT RED shown so far?
The reveal trailer is not a tracking guide
The reveal cinematic shows Ciri on a witcher contract, but a cinematic does not document the player interface. It cannot confirm a quest log, map screen, marker behavior, or navigation controls.

The Unreal Engine presentation is a tech demo
CD PROJEKT RED’s June 3, 2025 presentation is explicitly not gameplay. The official page says: “Keep in mind this isn’t gameplay of The Witcher 4 itself, but a deep dive into the technological groundwork.” It therefore cannot verify how quests or locations appear during play.
Kovir is confirmed, but no usable map has been published
The developer identifies Kovir as a region for the game in its June 13, 2025 explanation of the tech demo. That does not establish that the demo’s exact geography, routes, or visible objects will be final gameplay locations. The same explanation names FastGeo Streaming, Nanite Foliage, Mass System, ML Deformer, and Unreal Animation Framework as technologies featured in the demo; these are not confirmed quest-tracking features.
Should you use The Witcher 3 controls or a fan map?
No. The Witcher 4’s published materials do not establish that it will use The Witcher 3’s controls or interface conventions, so importing instructions from that game could mislead you. The official sources cited here also do not substantiate a currently useful The Witcher 4 companion tracker, game-specific guide, or physical map. Treat unofficial maps or control instructions as unverified unless they are tied to confirmed gameplay and clearly identify their source.
