On PS5, open your profile picture from the home screen, choose Trophies, select a game, and then select a trophy to see its details. Choose View All Trophies for the complete list. On PS4, open Trophies from the function screen and select a game. You can pin up to five PS5 trophies per game while you play, manually synchronize trophy data with PlayStation Network, and compare your collection with another player.
Trophy conditions, grades, and lists are set by each game, so the selected game’s trophy details are the authoritative checklist. The official PlayStation Support guide documents the PS5 and PS4 menus described here.

Track trophy progress on PS5
Open a game’s trophy list
- From the PS5 home screen, select your profile picture.
- Select Trophies.
- Choose the game you want to inspect.
- Select an individual trophy to open its details. The available list reflects your progress in that game.
- Select View All Trophies when you need the complete list, including trophies you have not yet earned.
The detail view is where you check what the game says is required for a specific trophy. Because every title can use a different number of trophies, grades, and conditions, do not infer a requirement from another game’s list or from the trophy’s color alone.

Check progress without leaving a game
While playing, open the PS5 control center and select the trophies card. The card shows trophy statistics, the progress or status of trophies you have pinned, and other available trophies. Select a trophy on the card and choose Pin Trophy to keep it above the other available trophies.

You can pin up to five trophies per game, according to PlayStation Support. If you want the information beside the game screen, choose Pin to Side. This is useful when you are working toward a particular objective and do not want to return to the full profile menu after every attempt.
Track earned trophies on PS4
- Open the function screen.
- Select Trophies.
- Choose a game to view its trophy information and earned trophies.
On the PS4 trophy screen, press the OPTIONS button to sort earned trophies by date or by grade. The same menu also provides an option to search online for trophy details, which can help when the console’s own description does not give enough context.
The PS4 instructions describe viewing earned trophies and sorting them; they do not provide the PS5 in-game trophies card or its pinning workflow. For a full checklist, use the game’s own trophy information and the online-detail option available from the OPTIONS menu.
Understand grades, rarity, and requirements
Grades are trophy categories
PlayStation lists trophy grades from most difficult to least difficult in this order: Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Bronze. A grade is the category assigned to the trophy; it is not a percentage of your progress and does not by itself explain the objective.
Games decide how many trophies they include, which grades they use, and the conditions for earning them. PlayStation Support states: “The number and grades of trophies, and the conditions for earning them, vary from game to game.” Read that game’s individual trophy entry rather than assuming that all Gold or Silver trophies require the same kind of task.
Rarity measures how many players earned a trophy
Rarity is a separate label based on the proportion of players who earned the same trophy. Sony’s labels are Ultra rare, Very rare, Rare, and Common. A trophy can therefore have a high grade but a common rarity, or a lower grade but an ultra-rare rarity. Grade describes the trophy’s category; rarity describes how widespread the unlock is among players.
Use the selected game’s details as the checklist
The trophy list tells you which entries are earned and which remain available for that game. Select a trophy to read its condition, then use View All Trophies on PS5 or the game’s trophy information on PS4 to make sure you are not overlooking a hidden or unearned entry. If the wording is brief, the PS4 OPTIONS menu can search online for additional trophy details.

Choose a focused set
Pin only the trophies you are actively pursuing. The PS5 limit is up to five pinned trophies per game, so use those slots for objectives that are relevant to your current session rather than trying to pin the entire list. The trophies card reports each pinned trophy’s progress or status, making it possible to see whether an action has registered.
Keep the card beside the game
Open the control center, select the trophies card, choose the trophy, and select Pin Trophy. Then choose Pin to Side if you want the card displayed alongside the game screen. This arrangement keeps the requirement visible while you play and reduces the need to switch repeatedly to the profile’s trophy menu.
Review the complete list when a pin is not enough
The card is a session aid, not a replacement for the game’s full list. Return to your profile picture, choose Trophies, select the game, and choose View All Trophies when you need to survey every grade, requirement, and unearned entry. Replace a pin when your objective changes.

Manually synchronize trophy information
Each console has a manual synchronization command that sends the local trophy information to PlayStation Network. Use it when the information shown on the console needs refreshing, but treat synchronization as a refresh operation rather than a guarantee that every display or account problem will be solved.
PS5 synchronization path
- Select your profile picture on the home screen.
- Open Trophies.
- Press the options button.
- Select Sync Trophies.
PS4 synchronization path
- Open Trophies from the function screen.
- Press OPTIONS.
- Select Sync With PlayStation Network.
After using the appropriate command, return to the game’s trophy list and check the entry again. If the display still does not match what you expect, the documented steps do not promise that syncing will resolve every display or account issue; record which console, profile, game, and trophy are affected before seeking further account or platform support.
Control who can see your trophies
Trophies you earn are visible on your PlayStation profile. Sony provides Privacy Settings that let you adjust who can see your games and gaming history. Review those settings if you want to limit the audience for your trophy activity. Privacy controls affect profile visibility; they do not change the trophy conditions or remove the entries from the console’s own trophy list.
Compare trophies with another player
PS5 comparison
On PS5, open the other player’s profile and use its Overview tab to compare trophy information. You can also start a comparison from your own Trophies screen. The comparison view is for seeing relative trophy collections; the selected game’s own trophy details remain the place to read the requirement for an individual entry.
PS4 comparison
On PS4, open the Trophies function screen and select Compare Trophies. Choose the player you want to compare with and then review the available game and trophy information.

Build a requirement-first tracking method
Start with the requirement, not the grade. A Platinum icon may look like the ultimate target, but its entry does not tell you whether the game expects story completion, a collection, a difficulty setting, or another condition. Open each candidate trophy and read the wording in the game’s own list before deciding what to do next.
- Choose the game. Open the title from your profile’s trophy list rather than relying on a general profile total.
- Separate earned from available. On PS5, the initial available list reflects your progress; use View All Trophies to see the complete set. On PS4, review the game’s trophy information and sort earned entries when useful.
- Record the exact condition. Treat the selected trophy’s text as the requirement. Do not substitute a grade, rarity label, or another player’s result for that wording.
- Select a session-sized group. On PS5, pin no more than five objectives that fit what you plan to do now. Keeping the set small makes the card useful instead of cluttered.
- Verify the unlock. After the action, return to the list and confirm that the trophy is marked as earned. If the profile looks stale, use the manual sync command for your console.
This approach also prevents a common mistake: treating a trophy comparison screen as a guide. Comparisons show relative collections, while the game entry explains what an individual trophy requires.
Do you need extra hardware or a paid tracker?
The documented tracking features are built into the PS5 and PS4 trophy menus. The instructions do not require a separate controller, accessory, book, app, tracker, or subscription. If you already have a supported console and the game, use the profile, control-center, function-screen, and PlayStation Network commands described above. A PlayStation 5 console is the relevant hardware for the PS5 workflow; purchasing additional equipment does not add a documented trophy requirement.
Common tracking pitfalls
- Confusing grade with rarity: Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Bronze are grades. Ultra rare, Very rare, Rare, and Common describe how many players earned an entry.
- Stopping at the available list: On PS5, use View All Trophies when you need every entry, not only the items currently shown as available.
- Assuming identical conditions: A Gold trophy in one title does not have the same requirement as a Gold trophy in another. Conditions vary by game.
- Leaving outdated pins in place: Replace a pinned trophy when your session objective changes; five pins are a limit, not a requirement to use all five.
- Expecting sync to repair every issue: Manual synchronization refreshes trophy data with PlayStation Network, but Sony does not promise it will solve every display or account problem.
- Ignoring privacy settings: Earned trophies appear on your profile unless your configured Privacy Settings limit who can see your games and gaming history.
- Relying on old menu labels: System software updates can move or rename commands. Start from the relevant top-level Trophies area and check the current PlayStation Support instructions.
A practical trophy-tracking routine
Before starting a session
- Open the game’s trophy list and scan all entries, not only the first available item.
- Read the details for objectives that fit the session you are about to play.
- On PS5, pin up to five current objectives so their status is easy to check during play.
- Note whether you are looking at grade or rarity: they answer different questions.
During the session
- Use the PS5 trophies card, optionally with Pin to Side, to monitor the selected objectives.
- When an objective changes, replace a pin rather than leaving an outdated set visible.
- On PS4, return to the Trophies screen when you need to review earned entries or sort them by date or grade.
After earning an objective
- Check the game’s trophy list to confirm that the entry shows as earned.
- If the profile view needs refreshing, run the console’s manual synchronization command for your system.
- Use the comparison view only after the trophy appears in your own list; comparison does not substitute for checking the game’s requirement.
When the trophy list does not look right
An entry appears to be missing
On PS5, select the game and then choose View All Trophies. The initial available list reflects your progress and is not necessarily the complete game list. On PS4, open the selected game’s trophy information and use the OPTIONS menu to search online for details if the console description is too brief.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesThe requirement is unclear
Open the individual trophy details for the selected game. Conditions vary by game, so a grade, rarity label, or another game’s wording cannot establish what this trophy requires. On PS4, the online-detail search is the documented way to look for additional explanation from the console’s trophy menu.

The status looks stale after playing
Use the manual sync path for your console: Sync Trophies on PS5 or Sync With PlayStation Network on PS4. The support instructions describe this as a synchronization action, not as a universal repair for account or display problems. If the status remains unexpected, retain the exact game and trophy name and the account and console on which it occurred before contacting platform support.
A menu label is different
Menu labels can change with system software updates. If a label has moved, start from the same top-level area—your profile picture and Trophies on PS5, or the function screen and Trophies on PS4—and look for the corresponding trophy, options, comparison, or synchronization command. Recheck the current PlayStation Support instructions for the latest interface wording.
What to remember
- PS5 path: profile picture > Trophies > game > trophy details.
- PS4 path: function screen > Trophies > game; press OPTIONS for sorting and online trophy details.
- Use the selected game’s own entries for requirements because trophy lists and conditions vary by game.
- PS5 lets you pin up to five trophies per game and display the trophies card beside the game screen.
- Both consoles provide a manual synchronization command for PlayStation Network.
- Grade and rarity are different: grade is the trophy category, while rarity reflects how many players earned it.
