Build a quarter-by-quarter tracker that separates reported performance from company-defined indicators. For each IT services company, record revenue and growth, profitability, bookings and backlog, cash generation, delivery capacity, and guidance—along with the fiscal period, definitions, and source for every figure. Compare a company with its own prior periods first; cross-company comparisons require aligned periods and comparable definitions.
How do I track IT services companies’ quarterly results?
Use one row per company and fiscal quarter, with a source link to the issuer’s release or filing. Record the period and measurement basis before entering the numbers; fiscal labels such as “Q4” do not necessarily cover the same calendar months across companies.

- Identify the period: record the fiscal quarter label, quarter-end date, and publication date.
- Identify the basis: note reporting currency and accounting basis, such as IFRS, and keep reported and adjusted measures in distinct fields.
- Capture the metrics below: enter only figures the company discloses, and preserve the issuer’s definition and period basis.
- Attach the source: link each quarter to the relevant earnings release, financial statements, presentation, or official filing. Use reconciliations where adjusted figures are provided.
- Compare consistently: calculate or capture changes against the company’s prior quarter and prior-year quarter before comparing it with another issuer.
A spreadsheet can use columns for company, fiscal quarter, quarter end, publication date, currency, accounting basis, metric, value, unit, definition or adjustment, comparison period, and source URL. Keep separate rows for reported-currency growth and constant-currency growth rather than combining them.
What are the key metrics for IT services companies?
Revenue, growth, and business mix
Capture reported revenue, year-over-year growth, sequential growth, and constant-currency growth as separate measures. Preserve any disclosed breakdown by service type, geography, industry, or segment. Mix matters: a firm with a larger managed-services business may not be directly comparable with one whose revenue is more heavily weighted to consulting.
#1 Best Overall
For example, Accenture’s FY2026 Q4 release reported revenue of $18.68 billion and 7% local-currency year-over-year growth. The same release breaks revenue out by consulting and managed services, geography, and industry group, making it possible to examine both the headline and its composition. These are issuer-reported figures for that period, not industry benchmarks. Accenture FY2026 Q4 release.
Profitability and earnings
Track operating income and operating margin, net income, and diluted earnings per share. Keep IFRS or other reported accounting measures separate from adjusted or non-GAAP versions, and save the company’s explanation and reconciliation for each adjustment. An adjusted margin without its corresponding reported figure and reconciliation can obscure what changed.
Wipro’s release for the quarter ended December 31, 2025, reports a 17.6% IT services operating margin and also gives net income, EPS, and an adjusted view that accounts for a specified labor-code effect. Treat the adjustment as specific to that release, rather than as a substitute for the reported result. Wipro quarterly results.

Record bookings or new bookings, book-to-bill, and backlog or remaining performance obligations when disclosed. Preserve the company’s terminology and definition, and label each number as quarterly, annual, or trailing twelve months (TTM). Do not place quarterly and TTM ratios in the same comparison column.
Book-to-bill generally relates bookings to revenue over a stated period, but the issuer’s calculation and period basis govern how its reported figure should be interpreted. A ratio above 1 does not mean that all bookings will be recognized as revenue in the next quarter. Bookings and backlog are indicators of awarded or future work, not guaranteed revenue; timing, cancellations, scope, and recognition can affect what ultimately appears as sales.
Accenture reported $22.17 billion in Q4 FY2026 bookings and a 1.2 quarterly book-to-bill ratio. CGI’s Q3 FY2026 investor results page reported $31.79 billion in backlog and 108.1% TTM book-to-bill. The figures use different companies’ definitions and period bases, so they illustrate what to record rather than offer a like-for-like ranking. Accenture FY2026 Q4 release; CGI investor results.
Rank #3
Cash generation and capital
Record cash provided by operating activities, free cash flow if the company reports it, and cash balance. Capture cash-conversion ratios only with their definitions and periods; a percentage of revenue is not equivalent to a percentage of net income, and a quarterly value is not interchangeable with a TTM figure.

Wipro reported operating cash flow equal to 135.4% of net income for the quarter ended December 31, 2025. The denominator and period make that Wipro figure a distinct measure, not a generic cash-conversion rate. CGI investor results; Wipro quarterly results.
Delivery capacity and workforce
Where disclosed, track utilization, onsite/offshore mix, employee count, attrition, hiring, and relevant skill information. For utilization, record whether trainees are included and whether the figure describes employee utilization or effort mix. The denominator and definition change the meaning of the percentage.
Infosys reports utilization both including and excluding trainees, as well as effort mix, employee totals, and TTM attrition. It reported 83.0% utilization excluding trainees for the quarter ended March 31, 2026. Cognizant’s Q4 and FY2025 results include headcount and TTM voluntary attrition. These are examples of issuer disclosures, not targets for the sector. Infosys FY2026 quarterly results; Cognizant quarterly results.
Guidance and management commentary
Log forward revenue or margin guidance with the date, forecast period, assumptions, and any stated reason for a change. Attribute explanations to management; guidance and commentary describe what the company expects or says, not verified future outcomes.
For instance, Wipro CEO and Managing Director Srini Pallia said of the quarter ended December 31, 2025, “In Q3, we delivered broad-based growth in line with our expectations.” Wipro published the statement on January 16, 2026. Treat it as management’s characterization of that quarter, alongside the reported results and relevant segment data. Wipro quarterly results.

How do you compare IT services companies?
- Start with each company’s own history. Compare the issuer with its prior quarter and prior-year quarter, using the same definitions and period basis.
- Align fiscal periods. Compare quarter-end dates, not just labels such as Q1 or Q4.
- Align currency presentation. Use the same currency basis where possible, and show reported-currency and constant-currency growth separately.
- Keep accounting measures distinct. Do not merge reported IFRS or other accounting results with adjusted measures; retain the reconciliation and adjustment descriptions.
- Check business mix. Compare consulting, managed services, geography, industry, and other disclosed mix before inferring that growth or margins are directly comparable.
- Check metric definitions and duration. Confirm what each company includes in bookings, backlog, book-to-bill, utilization, and cash conversion—and whether the measure is quarterly, annual, or TTM.
Constant-currency growth helps isolate exchange-rate effects, but issuers may calculate it differently. Wipro says it translates current-period IT Services revenue using the prior-period conversion rate and notes that divestitures can affect comparable growth. Infosys describes converting current-period local-currency revenue using prior-period exchange rates. These disclosures make the measures useful in context, but not automatically identical across issuers. Wipro quarterly results; Infosys FY2026 quarterly results.
Where should you get the numbers, and what should you verify?
Use official investor-relations earnings pages, releases, financial statements, segment reports, presentations, and webcasts. Regulatory filings can provide an official version of a release or financial information. For each figure, keep a direct link to the relevant period and read the accompanying definitions, footnotes, and reconciliations; metric policies and current results can change from quarter to quarter.
Wipro states that its key metrics and non-GAAP measures “are not based on any comprehensive set of accounting rules or principles and should not be considered a substitute for, or superior to, the most directly comparable financial measure calculated in accordance with IFRS.” That is why issuer-defined measures belong in a tracker, but should remain labeled as issuer-defined and be read alongside the financial statements. Wipro quarterly results.
What does a useful quarterly tracker tell you?
It shows whether revenue growth is broad or concentrated, whether profitability and cash generation move with reported growth, and whether bookings, workforce, and guidance support or complicate the operating picture. It does not turn unlike company metrics into a single league table. Keeping period labels, definitions, mix, and reconciliations attached to the numbers makes the comparison more informative and less misleading.
