Steam Support states: “Marking a game as private hides your ownership, in-game status, playtime, and activity in that game.” A private game can therefore be absent from what other users can see even when playtime exists on your account. Steam says a game can be marked private in the client, from the Community Profile games list in a browser, or during purchase.

PlayStation: use the PS5 stats dashboard for ongoing totals
Sony’s PS5 product information describes personalized stats, including total hours played, and defines the total as “All the hours you’ve spent in-game, either on your PS5 console or PlayStation Portal.” This is the clearest officially described ongoing playtime total in the available platform information.
Sony distinguishes the stats dashboard from counts of owned or played games. Its page says demos, trials, and betas are excluded from the total full-game count; that qualification concerns the full-game count and should not be mistaken for a stated rule about how the hours metric counts every session or title.

PS5 hours and possible idle time
A third-party guide reports that PS5 per-game hours may include idle time, but also says Sony has not officially confirmed that behavior. Treat it as an unconfirmed caveat, not a guaranteed explanation of how Sony calculates hours.
PlayStation Wrap-Up is an annual recap, not a live tracker
PlayStation’s 2025 Wrap-Up ran from December 9, 2025, through January 8, 2026. It summarized the year, including most-played games and genres and total hours across single-player and multiplayer titles. Sony’s announcement set eligibility conditions for that event: a regional PlayStation account, adult-age eligibility, and at least 10 hours of gameplay during 2025. The access window has ended, and those dates and conditions apply to the 2025 event only; they do not establish when a future Wrap-Up will run.

Xbox: what to do when hours are missing
Current exact Xbox console or app steps could not be established from official Microsoft instructions available here. Epic’s Fortnite support page points readers to Xbox-enabled console and PC instructions, but the available page excerpt does not show the steps. Nor is there authoritative confirmation here that every Xbox game supplies an hours-played statistic.
