Disney Dreamlight Valley uses separate tracking controls for ordinary quests, Dreamlight Duties, crafting goals, event information, DreamSnaps challenges and Star Path duties. The quickest method is to open the menu that owns the objective, select the objective, and choose its on-screen Track control. A quest selected in the Quests menu appears in the regular objective tracker; a Duty or crafting requirement is selected from its own screen; event and challenge instructions are read from the Event tab or Event Board.
Because controller prompts and seasonal rules can change, use the label shown on your platform rather than relying on a particular button name. The procedures below separate each objective type so you know exactly where to look, what should happen after selection and how to recover when an objective is not visible.

Which menu tracks which objective?
There is no single universal event-quest list in Disney Dreamlight Valley. Tracking depends on the system that created the objective. Use this map before searching through menus:

The first three rows are active trackers: you select a goal and work toward the displayed requirement. Event pages can instead provide information, schedules or challenge instructions, so an event item may not appear in the ordinary quest tracker at all.

Track a regular quest step by step
Open the Quests menu
- Open the game’s Main Menu.
- Choose Quests. This is the menu for story, character and other conventional quest entries.
- Move the selection to the quest you want to follow. Read the text showing the quest’s current objective; tracking follows the current step, not every step in the chain at once.
- Use the displayed Track control. The exact controller prompt can differ by platform or control scheme, so follow the button or key shown beside the Track label.
- Close the menu and return to the valley. The selected objective should now be visible in the on-screen quest tracker.
If you select a different quest and track it, the newly selected quest becomes the one shown on screen. Tracking is a display choice; it does not abandon, reset or complete the quest you previously followed.
When a quest objective changes
Quest tracking follows the active step. After you satisfy one requirement, the text can change to the next requirement. If the new step is not visible, reopen Quests, select the same quest and press Track again. This refreshes the tracker and is the first recovery step recommended by the game’s guide documentation.
Follow Dreamlight Duties
Dreamlight Duties are managed separately from ordinary quests. To put one on screen, open the Duties menu from the Main Menu, select the Duty you intend to complete and use that screen’s tracking option. Read the requirement exactly as written before leaving the menu; the tracker reflects the selected Duty rather than a general list of all available Duties.
The tracking behavior after completion is important: the game guide states that once the selected Duty is completed, the most recent quest becomes tracked. If you were following a Duty and the display suddenly returns to a quest, that is expected behavior, not evidence that the Duty failed. Open Duties again if you want to choose another Duty, or use Quests to select a quest explicitly.
Distinguish a Duty from a quest
- A quest normally has a named story or character entry in Quests.
- A Duty is a discrete requirement in Duties, even when it asks you to perform an activity that also appears in a quest.
- Only the menu containing the objective can reliably select its tracking state. Searching the quest list for a Duty can make it look as though the objective is missing.
Track crafting-material requirements
When a task asks for a material, use the Crafting menu rather than assuming the requirement is a normal quest marker. Open Crafting from the Main Menu, select the material or crafting goal and choose the menu’s tracking option. The selected requirement is then the one the on-screen tracker follows.

This separation matters when a quest, Duty and crafting requirement mention similar activities. For example, a quest may ask you to deliver an item while a crafting goal asks you to gather its ingredients. Selecting the crafting goal from Crafting tracks the ingredient requirement; selecting the quest from Quests tracks the delivery step. Choose the version that matches what you are doing next.
If the material tracker disappears
- Return to Main Menu > Crafting.
- Select the same material or goal again.
- Use the visible tracking control.
- Check whether a newly completed Duty has switched the display back to the most recent quest, as described in the guide.
Completing a crafting requirement does not mean every related quest step is complete. Reopen the relevant menu after crafting so you can select the next objective deliberately.

Live event instructions are collected under the Event tab in the menu. Open that tab when you need event dates, available activities, token information or a seasonal objective that is not listed with ordinary quests. The in-game Event Board offers a shortcut to event information and can show up to three live events at the same time.
Using the Event Board
The Event Board is an in-game furniture item, not an external website or companion product. It was introduced through the Astronomer’s Journey Star Path. Interact with the board in your valley to reach the event information it exposes, then use the Event tab when you need the complete set of entries or when more than one event is active.
Because the board is limited to three live events, an event that is not shown there may still need to be checked from the Event tab. Treat the board as a shortcut and the Event tab as the authoritative in-game place to inspect the available event listings.

Why an event objective may not appear in Quests
Event systems do not all create ordinary quest entries. Some provide instructions, reward tracks or recurring duties through the Event interface. If an event goal is absent from Quests, inspect Duties and the Event tab instead of repeatedly reselecting a story quest. The correct location is determined by the event’s system, not by the fact that it is time-limited.
Check DreamSnaps requirements before taking a photo
DreamSnaps challenge instructions are available in the Event tab. The publisher’s DreamSnaps feature guide also says the requirements can be viewed in Photo Mode. Use both views when preparing a submission: the Event tab gives you the challenge entry, while Photo Mode lets you check the requirements while composing the image.
- Open Main Menu > Event.
- Select the current DreamSnaps challenge and read every listed requirement.
- Enter Photo Mode and review the challenge requirements there before submitting.
- Adjust the scene, clothing or decorations to satisfy the current instructions, then submit through the game’s active DreamSnaps flow.
An older published feature announcement listed a Wednesday 1:00 PM UTC schedule for DreamSnaps. That page is an earlier announcement, so do not treat its timing as a permanent rule. Check the current challenge timer and instructions shown in the live game whenever the exact opening or closing time matters.
Track Star Path Duties and understand their progression
Star Path Duties have their own progression rules and should be checked in the Star Path section of the Event interface. Gameloft’s Deep Dive on Star Path Changes, published August 18, 2025, describes Routine Duties and explains how released sets work for Premium and Non-Premium players.
Routine Duty release timing
The published schedule says: “Routine Duties are a new set of duties that unlock weekly on Wednesday at 1:00 PM UTC / 9:00 AM EST / 6:00 AM PST.” Once a Routine Duty set has unlocked, it remains available rather than expiring immediately at the next weekly release. This makes it possible to catch up on previously unlocked sets.

The times and rules are update-sensitive. A later game update can change a Star Path schedule, so use the release information displayed by the current Event or Star Path screen when planning around a reset.
Non-Premium progression
According to the August 18, 2025 overview, Non-Premium players complete the released Routine Duty sets in order. If you start late, you can catch up, but the released sets must still be completed sequentially. Open the Star Path duties and select the earliest available unfinished set before moving to later sets.
Premium progression
Premium players may complete released Routine Duty sets in any order, subject to the sets that have already unlocked. This changes the best tracking choice: select the set that fits your current activities instead of assuming the oldest unfinished set is mandatory.
After the event ends
The same overview describes a 48-hour post-event grace period for using remaining event tokens. This is a token-use window, not a promise that new Duties will continue to unlock after the event. Check the live Star Path screen for the exact end time and spend or convert tokens before the displayed deadline.

Use this sequence whenever you are unsure where an event-related objective lives:
- Is it a named story or character quest? Open Quests, select it and use Track.
- Is it a general requirement such as performing an activity a certain number of times? Open Duties and select the Duty’s tracking control.
- Does it identify an ingredient, material or crafted item? Open Crafting and track the material goal there.
- Is it a seasonal listing, event description or reward activity? Open the Event tab or use the Event Board shortcut.
- Is it a photo-theme challenge? Read the DreamSnaps entry in Event and verify it again in Photo Mode.
- Is it a Star Path Duty? Use the Star Path interface and account for the current release order and Premium status.
This process prevents a common error: treating every time-limited activity as a quest. The tracker can only display what the selected system has designated as its current objective.
Troubleshooting tracking problems
The selected quest is not on screen
- Open Main Menu > Quests again.
- Select the intended quest, not merely the category containing it.
- Press the on-screen Track control.
- Return to the game and check for the current objective text.
If the display still shows another objective, check whether you completed a Duty immediately beforehand. The guide says completion can cause the most recent quest to become tracked automatically.
The objective is not in the quest list
Check whether the goal belongs to Duties, Crafting or Event instead. Event Board entries are limited to three live events, so inspect the full Event tab if the board does not show the activity you expect.

Button labels vary by platform and control scheme. Use the prompt printed beside Track in your own menu rather than a controller instruction copied from another platform. The function is the same even when the physical button differs.
A scheduled activity appears early or late
Compare the game’s current timer with older published schedules. The Wednesday 1:00 PM UTC DreamSnaps timing came from an older feature announcement, while the Star Path Routine Duty schedule was documented in August 2025. Both are subject to later updates; the live in-game display takes priority for a current event.
A Star Path set seems locked
Determine whether the set has unlocked yet and whether your account is Premium or Non-Premium. Non-Premium players follow released sets in order; Premium players can choose among released sets. A set that has not reached its release point cannot be selected simply by changing the tracker.
Recommended tracking routine
For a clean session, select one active goal, complete it, then deliberately choose the next goal from its owning menu:

- At the start of a session, identify whether your priority is a quest, Duty, crafting requirement, event activity, DreamSnaps challenge or Star Path Duty.
- Open the matching menu and select its tracking control.
- Read the complete current objective before leaving the menu, including quantities and conditions.
- Work only toward that displayed objective so a completed Duty does not silently redirect your tracker to a quest you were not intending to follow.
- After completion, reopen the owning menu and select the next objective. This is especially important after a Duty completes and the most recent quest becomes tracked automatically.
- For seasonal activities, check the Event tab again before ending your session so you do not miss a changed requirement, release or deadline.
What to remember about event tracking
- Quests: track them from Quests with the on-screen Track control.
- Dreamlight Duties: select and track them from Duties; completion can return the display to the most recent quest.
- Crafting goals: use Crafting when the objective is a material or recipe requirement.
- Events: inspect the Event tab; the Event Board is a shortcut showing up to three live events.
- DreamSnaps: review requirements in both the Event tab and Photo Mode, and trust the current in-game schedule over an older announcement.
- Star Path: use its own Duty interface; Routine Duty release times, Premium rules and the 48-hour token grace period are update-sensitive.
