A screenshot records what a browser displayed at one moment. It does not prove that the price remains available, applies to every location, or will match checkout. A listing may vary by seller, variant, delivery location, discount, or promotion, so decide which context counts as a valid comparison before scheduling captures.

- Choose the permitted product-page URLs and a stable product or variant identifier.
- Define the price to record, such as the displayed selling price, and whether a visible discount or offer is part of the comparison.
- Record visible seller and delivery or pincode availability context when relevant. Do not assume a screenshot provides a universally applicable price.
- Set a realistic capture cadence and retention period. More frequent captures do not resolve differences in location, variant, or checkout eligibility.
Build a small authorized capture workflow with Playwright
The basic design separates scheduling from capture: a scheduler starts a script; the script opens the permitted page in a browser; Playwright saves a screenshot; and the workflow stores the image with context for later review. Playwright documents page screenshots, full-page capture, element screenshots, and returned image bytes in its screenshot documentation.
Install Playwright
For a Node.js project, install Playwright and its browser package:

Save this as capture.mjs. Supply a product URL that you are authorized to capture through the PRODUCT_URL environment variable. The script creates an output directory and uses an ISO timestamp, which includes the UTC offset, in the filename.

For a page where the relevant content appears after initial parsing, use a documented, authorized condition that reflects the page you need; do not keep extending waits blindly. If you need a full-page image, the example uses fullPage: true. To capture a specific element instead, locate it and call locator.screenshot({ path: 'price.png' }), as described in Playwright’s screenshot documentation.
A screenshot alone is hard to analyze over time. Keep a small run record alongside each image, such as capture time and timezone, URL, product or variant identifier, visible price, seller or offer context, and a status such as success, timeout, or page unavailable. These are workflow recommendations, not a claim that Flipkart exposes a stable data schema. Have a person review unexpected changes rather than treating an image as confirmed pricing data.
Schedule the script with GitHub Actions
GitHub Actions can run a workflow on a recurring cron schedule. The following example runs at 17 minutes past 08:00 UTC each day, rather than at the top of the hour. Store the product URL as a repository variable named PRODUCT_URL, and add this workflow on the repository’s default branch.

GitHub documents scheduled workflows as POSIX cron schedules, with UTC as the default and an optional IANA timezone. Its shortest supported interval is five minutes. Scheduled runs can be delayed during heavy load, particularly around the start of an hour, and queued runs may be dropped; they are not a precision timer. The workflow file must exist on the default branch, and scheduled workflows in public repositories are automatically disabled after 60 days without repository activity. Choose the right approach for the scale of the work
A script and screenshots may suit a small, authorized watchlist where a person can review exceptions. Catalog-scale competitive monitoring adds harder requirements: matching equivalent variants, refreshing on a useful cadence, handling availability and promotions, producing alerts, and supporting ongoing operations.

Troubleshoot common capture and scheduling problems
- The workflow never runs: confirm the workflow file is on the default branch, the cron expression is valid, and the repository schedule is active. In a public repository, check whether it was disabled after 60 days without activity.
- The run starts late or is missing: GitHub Actions schedules are not exact-time guarantees; heavy load can delay runs or drop queued work. An off-the-hour schedule can avoid the busiest boundary, but does not guarantee punctual execution.
- The script says
PRODUCT_URLis missing: add the repository variable with that exact name, or pass the variable through another authorized configuration method. - Navigation times out: confirm the URL is correct and accessible for your authorized workflow. A timeout may indicate a slow or unavailable page; do not respond by evading site controls.
- The screenshot is incomplete or not useful:
domcontentloadedis not a guarantee that all images or dynamic content have finished. Choose a suitable documented wait condition, or capture a specific element when appropriate, and inspect the result. - The image is saved but no useful price comparison is possible: the image may not show variant, seller, delivery, or promotion context clearly. Improve the run record and review comparable context rather than assuming the displayed number applies to every buyer.
