After a prerecorded YouTube livestream ends, review its Super Chat and Super Sticker activity in YouTube Studio under Earn > Supers. Then post a clearly labeled thank-you in the replay’s description, a pinned comment, or a later Community update. Don’t suggest that you acknowledged viewers live if the stream was prerecorded or has already ended.
What happens to Super Chats after a prerecorded stream?
Super Chat is a highlighted message in live chat during a livestream or Premiere. YouTube’s guidance treats it as a purchase associated with the live event; it does not describe Super Chats being purchased on an ordinary replay. Once the broadcast ends, viewers may watch its replay as a video, but that does not turn the replay into the original live chat. YouTube recommends acknowledging Super Chat buyers during the live stream—for example, with a verbal thank-you or a heart on their message. After the event, a description, pinned comment, or Community post is a practical way to thank them where replay viewers can see it; these are suggestions, not required YouTube placements. How to review and thank Super Chat buyers after the broadcast
- Open YouTube Studio on a computer. Sign in to the channel that hosted the prerecorded livestream.
- Go to Earn > Supers. Review the Super Chat and Super Sticker activity available for the completed broadcast.
- Write a post-stream thank-you. Add a short note to the replay’s description, a pinned comment, or a later Community update. Make clear that it is a thank-you after the event rather than a live acknowledgement.
- Use names thoughtfully. Check spelling and consider whether naming a buyer is appropriate. Avoid exposing details the person did not intend to make public.
- Only mention other paid features when applicable. If you refer viewers to Super Thanks on an archived video, explain that it is separate from Super Chat and may depend on channel, video, and location eligibility.
The available activity and feature access can vary with channel and video status. Check what YouTube Studio currently shows rather than promising that a particular purchase or feature will be available.

Super Chat and Super Thanks are different

Super Thanks availability depends on creator and video eligibility. Consult YouTube’s Super Thanks eligibility, availability, and policies before telling viewers they can use it on a particular replay.
Eligibility and wording to get right
- Fan funding features require YouTube Partner Program acceptance and compliance with the Commerce Product Module or applicable prior Commerce Product Addendum. Individual feature requirements and supported regions also apply. Check YouTube Commerce Products monetization policies.
- Super Chat and Super Stickers are unavailable for some video types, including age-restricted, unlisted, private, made-for-kids, or fundraiser videos. They also depend on live chat and comments being available. Check the current channel and video status in Studio; see YouTube’s eligibility and availability guidance.
- Call people “buyers,” “supporters,” or “viewers who sent a Super Chat” rather than implying that Super Chats are charitable donations. YouTube says Super Chat and Super Stickers are not crowdfunding or donation tools.
