To judge a PlayStation Store discount, check the exact game and edition, compare its current price with historical prices for the same region, and account for what the listing includes. The percentage off is only a starting point: a sale price can be worthwhile without being a record low, while a large discount on an edition or bundle you do not want may not be good value.
Start with the exact Store listing
Open the game’s own PlayStation Store page and confirm that you are looking at the product you intend to buy. Check platform compatibility, whether it is the base game, a deluxe edition, a bundle or an add-on, and what content is included. Note the current offer price, displayed original price, and any condition such as needing a subscription. The US PlayStation Store Deals page displays offer and original prices alongside percentage discounts, but those figures change frequently and are not a record of past prices.

For example, the US Deals page showed Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and Gran Turismo 7 at $27.99 each against displayed original prices of $69.99, or 60% off. These were snapshots of the page, not evidence that either game was at its lowest price or a recommendation to buy. Store prices and offers vary by region.
Compare today’s price with its history
Search for the same title and edition in a price-history service, then compare the current offer with its observed past lows and typical sale prices. Match the region and currency: a chart for another market or a different edition is not a reliable comparison. Price-history services describe tools such as price statistics and charts, but their accuracy and completeness have not been independently established here. Treat their records as useful context, not a guarantee.

No universal discount percentage establishes that every Store offer is a good deal. A 60% reduction, for instance, says how the displayed price compares with the displayed original price; it does not tell you how often the game reaches that price or whether the edition suits you.
Compare editions, physical copies, and subscription access
Compare like with like. A bundle or deluxe edition can cost more—or show a larger percentage discount—because it includes different content. An add-on is not the full game. Check the product type and included content before deciding that one listing is cheaper or better value than another.

If the game has a physical PS5 edition, compare the same or closest equivalent edition at a retailer you use. Include shipping and account for the disc’s condition; a lower sticker price may not be the lower total cost. Physical copies are not available for every digital title. PS Deals’ app listing describes comparing Store prices with other marketplaces, including Amazon; that is a feature description, not a check of current retailer inventory or prices.
If an offer depends on a subscription, include the cost of any subscription you would need and consider whether access continues only while that subscription is active. Subscription access and ownership of a purchased game are not interchangeable.

Choose whether to buy now or wait
Set a personal price limit before a sale ends. Buy now if the current price fits your budget and the product is the right edition; wait if it is above your limit and you are comfortable waiting for another offer. A historical low can help you decide what to wait for, but it does not promise that the same price will return on a particular schedule.
For a game you are willing to wait on, add it to your PlayStation wishlist and turn on wishlist updates. PlayStation’s Blog gives these paths:

For the United States, Sony Interactive Entertainment’s PlayStation Network Terms of Service, dated March 2026, state: “If the price for any content or services you purchased temporarily or permanently drops, you will not be entitled to a refund (unless your purchase independently qualifies for a refund under the PlayStation Store Cancellation Policy).” This is the US agreement; check the agreement and cancellation policy that apply to your region and transaction. A later reduction alone is not a reason to assume you can recover the difference.
