A set missing from LEGO.com is not, by itself, proof that it is retired.
What each LEGO availability label means
LEGO’s official availability guide explains the labels shown on product pages, usually below the price. Use the wording on the exact set’s page rather than inferring its status from a search result or a retailer listing.

| LEGO status | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Temporarily out of stock | LEGO says it expects more stock in the future. | Check again later. This is the clearest indication that LEGO anticipates replenishment, though the label alone does not give a date. |
| Sold out | LEGO may receive more stock, but no date is confirmed. | A restock is possible, not promised on a particular schedule. |
| Retiring soon | The set is expected to leave LEGO’s current sales assortment soon. | Treat it as a last-chance notice. It does not guarantee a specific final sale date or that stock will remain until then. |
| Retired Product | The set is no longer in LEGO’s current assortment, and LEGO expects no more stock. | Do not expect LEGO.com to restock it; check retailers if you still want the set. |
| Backorders Accepted | LEGO is accepting orders that are scheduled to ship on a later stated date. | Check the product page for the shipping information before ordering. |
| Call to check product availability | LEGO says to call about availability, which can indicate low stock. | Contact LEGO using the details provided on the page; this is not a retirement label. |
How to check a specific LEGO Nintendo set
- Search LEGO.com for the set’s exact name or, preferably, its set number. Open the product page for your country or region.
- Look below the price for the availability status. If the page is available, follow the label’s meaning in the table above.
- If the page is unclear, check LEGO’s regional shop again or contact LEGO customer support. Availability can differ by country and change over time.
- If LEGO.com does not show the set, do not conclude that it is retired from the missing result alone. LEGO notes that retired sets may disappear from the site, but future products might not yet be listed and some early-access products require an Insiders login. These possibilities make absence ambiguous, not proof of a restock.
- For additional checks, ask an official LEGO Store or look at other retailers. LEGO recommends these avenues for sets that are retired or unavailable, but their listings do not establish that a particular retailer has the set in stock.
LEGO’s guide uses the phrase “The set isn’t currently available to order but we expect to have more in the future” for “Temporarily out of stock.” For “Retired Product,” it says, “The set is no longer in our current assortment and we won’t be getting any more stock.” Those are LEGO’s definitions, not a prediction of when a particular set will return or how many copies remain.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesWhat a LEGO Nintendo retirement listing can—and cannot—tell you
LEGO’s UK Sets Retiring Soon catalogue included “Mario Kart™ – Piranha Plant Power-Up Pursuit” and “Mario Kart™ – Standard Kart” when checked. That illustrates that a set can still be listed by LEGO while in its last-chance period. The listing is a UK snapshot, not a current-status claim for every country or for other LEGO Nintendo sets; check the exact product page in your region.

Checking listings after LEGO stops selling a set
A retired set may still be offered by retailers or online shops, but LEGO warns that third-party items can be new or used and says it is not responsible for those sites. A listing is not confirmation that the set is complete, genuine, or fairly priced.
- Match the set number, not just a similar name or product photo.
- Check whether the listing is for a new or used set.
- For used sets, confirm which pieces, minifigures, manuals, and packaging are included if those matter to you.
- Assess the seller’s reputation and compare the total price, including shipping and any other charges.
LEGO’s guidance on retired sets recommends checking LEGO Stores and other retailers. It does not establish stock, condition, price, or seller quality at any specific third-party shop, so verify those details with the seller before buying.
