Start by separating two purchases that are easy to confuse: the Ultimate Edition is a digital game edition with in-game extras, while the Vice City Collection is a separately sold physical collectible set. The set is reported not to include the game, so add the game’s cost before judging its value. For most players unsure about digital bonuses, Standard is the lower-risk choice: Rockstar says you can buy the Ultimate Edition Upgrade later.
First, identify which GTA 6 purchase you mean
Rockstar lists a Standard Edition and a digital Ultimate Edition. The Vice City Collection is a separate merchandise offer, not another game edition. Rockstar describes it as a premium, limited-edition collectible set inspired by Leonida’s fictional TV show, Macca the Gator (Rockstar).

GamesRadar reports that the collection costs $399.99 in the U.S. or £349.99 in the U.K., includes physical collectibles, and does not include the game (GamesRadar guide; GamesRadar report). Those price and contents details are secondary reporting, not independently confirmed official specifications here. Check the live official listing before ordering, including availability: Rockstar’s homepage labels the offer “while supplies last.”
Compare the game options and their trade-offs
| Option | What you get | Best value question | Important caveat |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard digital | The game, plus any qualifying time-limited bonuses | Is the game itself enough? | Digital license is tied to the relevant platform account. |
| Standard code-in-box | A download code in physical packaging | Does the box or gift presentation matter to you? | There is no disc; account-region rules can affect activation. |
| Ultimate digital | The game and listed digital in-game extras | Are the extras worth the price difference to you? | Extras are digital, not collectible merchandise. |
| Ultimate Edition Upgrade | Ultimate Edition extras added after buying Standard | Would you rather defer deciding about the extras? | Check the current upgrade price and availability in your store. |
| Vice City Collection | A separate physical collectible set, according to GamesRadar | Would you pay the reported premium for these objects without the game? | Reported not to include the game; verify live official contents and stock. |
Is the Ultimate Edition worth its extra cost?
Take-Two announced U.S. prices of $79.99 for Standard and $99.99 for Ultimate, a $20 difference (Take-Two Interactive Software). These are announced U.S. prices; local storefront pricing may differ.
#1 Best Overall
- Grand Theft Auto III: It all starts in Liberty City
- Grand Theft Auto: Vice City: Welcome to the 1980s
- Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas: Five years ago, Carl 'CJ' Johnson escaped the haze of Los Santos, San Andreas...a city tearing itself apart with gang trouble, drugs, and corruption.
Rockstar describes Ultimate’s bonus collection as items threaded through Jason and Lucia’s story. Its support listing includes digital extras such as vehicles, weapons, apparel, customization venues, and the Classic Car Collection (Rockstar Support; GTA VI editions). These are in-game bonuses, so the premium makes sense only if you expect to value those particular extras. It does not buy the Vice City Collection.
If you are undecided, Rockstar says Standard buyers can purchase the Ultimate Edition Upgrade through the PlayStation or Microsoft storefront after redeeming the game code. Compare the upgrade’s current regional price with the $20 U.S. launch-price gap rather than assuming upgrading later costs the same.

What to check before buying the physical game
The physical Standard Edition is a code-in-box release, not a disc. Rockstar says the package contains a download code and is designed to support preload. A box may work as a gift presentation, but it does not provide a disc to lend, resell, or use as a physical offline copy.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
- Confirm that the code is for your console platform and region.
- Rockstar recommends buying from a retailer in the same country as the platform account. Its support guidance says PlayStation codes follow region rules, while Xbox codes are not region-locked.
- Check the retailer’s current listing for the exact edition and whether it is digital or code-in-box; packaging alone does not mean there is a disc.
Check timed bonuses and dates
Bonuses are not necessarily permanent purchase inclusions. Take-Two says the Vintage Vice City Pack applies to preorders and purchases made before November 20, 2026. It also specifies a free month of GTA+ for digital preorders. Rockstar’s editions page provides the bonus details and format terms; check those live terms before purchasing because offer eligibility and dates can change.

Take-Two announced a November 19, 2026 launch for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, with preorders beginning June 25, 2026 at midnight local time (Take-Two Interactive Software). These announced dates do not establish current stock or whether a particular retailer still honors an offer.

Evaluate the set as merchandise, not as a discounted way to buy the game. Using GamesRadar’s reported prices, the U.S. calculation is $399.99 plus the game’s separate price; the U.K. calculation is £349.99 plus the game’s separate price. The game price and the reported set price may vary by region or change at retail, so calculate the total from current listings.

- Buy for collecting if the specific objects are worth that total to you and you are comfortable with the reported contents and availability.
- Skip it if your priority is simply playing GTA 6; the game is a separate purchase according to GamesRadar.
- Do not count on resale to make the set worthwhile. No reliable resale forecast is established.
- Verify before checkout because the official linked announcement details were not readable in the available source, while the accessible price and item reporting is from GamesRadar.
A practical decision rule
- Choose Standard if you mainly want the game and do not yet know that you want Ultimate’s digital extras.
- Choose Ultimate now only if you have checked its current local price and want the included in-game items enough to justify the difference.
- Choose the code-in-box version only if the packaging matters and you accept that it contains a download code, not a disc.
- Consider the Vice City Collection only after confirming the official contents, stock, and current price, then adding the game separately to the total.
