What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Start with the AI provider’s official status page, then test one thing at a time: the session, browser, device, and network. A matching incident makes a provider problem more likely; success in another browser or on another network points toward your setup or route. Neither result is proof by itself—a status page can miss narrow or localized problems, and local trouble can occur alongside an outage.
1. Check the official status page
Open the status page for the AI service you use and look for the specific product or component that is failing, not just the overall banner. Check incident history too: a recently resolved event may explain when the trouble began. For OpenAI, use the OpenAI Status page. For Claude, use Anthropic’s Claude status page.
A status page is a useful snapshot, not a guarantee that every user, region, account, model, or feature is working. OpenAI says its availability metrics are aggregated across tiers, models, and error types, so an individual customer’s experience may differ. A green page does not rule out a partial or localized fault.

At the time it was accessed on October 3, 2026, the OpenAI Status page said, “We’re fully operational” and “We’re not aware of any issues affecting our systems.” That wording describes the page at that time, not a permanent service guarantee. The page’s incident history also included resolved incidents dated October 1 and 2, 2026, illustrating why current status matters.
2. See whether the problem follows the chat, model, or account
- Refresh the page or reopen the app once.
- Sign out and sign back in.
- Start a new conversation and, if available, select a different model.
If a new conversation or another model works, the issue may be specific to the original chat or model. It does not prove the whole service is healthy. If the same failure persists, continue with the browser and network checks rather than repeatedly changing settings.

Automatically detects and switches between 10M/100M/1000M modes, Includes cable tracking, short circuit test, interruption of circuit test and etc The RJ45 cable tester can quickly measure the length of the cable with a range of 200m. Not only network cables, but also phone lines and BNC cables.
3. Compare browsers and devices
Try a private or incognito window with extensions disabled. If that works, the browser profile, an extension, or stored site data may be involved. Next, try another browser or device while keeping the account and network the same. Change one condition at a time so you can tell which comparison made a difference.
If the service works in a clean browser, disable extensions in the usual profile and, if needed, clear the service’s cache, cookies, or site data. OpenAI’s ChatGPT troubleshooting guidance recommends these kinds of checks for slow, blank, frozen, or stuck sessions. Close unnecessary tabs or programs if the device is under load.

- VERSATILE CABLE TESTING: Cable tester tests voice (RJ11/12), data (RJ45), and video (coax F-connector) terminated cables, providing clear results for comprehensive testing on unenergized Ethernet cables (not designed to test PoE)
- EXTENDED CABLE LENGTH MEASUREMENT: Measure cable length up to 2000 feet (610 m), allowing for precise cable length determination
- COMPREHENSIVE FAULT DETECTION: Test for Open, Short, Miswire, or Split-Pair faults, ensuring thorough fault detection and identification
- BACKLIT LCD DISPLAY: Backlit LCD screen displays cable length, wiremap, cable ID, and test results, ensuring easy readability in various lighting conditions
- EFFICIENT CABLE TRACING: Trace cables, wire pairs, and individual conductor wires using the multiple style tone generator (requires analog probe Cat. No. VDV500-123, sold separately), simplifying cable tracing tasks
4. Compare networks and check the route
Try the same device and account on another network, such as mobile data. If it works there, the original network path is more suspect. A VPN, proxy, firewall, company network policy, or recent configuration change could be involved; the comparison does not identify which one. On a managed network, ask its administrator before changing settings.

| What you observe | What it suggests | What it does not prove |
|---|---|---|
| The official status page lists an incident matching the affected product | A provider-side disruption is likely. | That every user or feature is affected. |
| A second browser works on the same device, network, and account | The original browser profile, an extension, or stored site data may be involved. | That there is no simultaneous provider problem. |
| A second network works with the same device and account | The original network route, VPN, proxy, or policy may be involved. | Which specific network component is responsible. |
| The same failure occurs across devices and networks, and a matching incident is listed | A provider-side or account/service issue becomes more plausible. | That the listed incident is the only cause. |
5. If you use an API, check whether requests reach the provider
For an API problem, compare your client’s errors with the provider’s health information for the relevant model, service tier, and project, where available. Check timeouts, proxy or load-balancer changes, HTTP status codes, and error percentages. If your client reports failures but there are no matching provider health records, the request may have failed before reaching the provider—for example, at a timeout, proxy, or network layer. That is a boundary clue, not a diagnosis of the exact cause.
OpenAI’s Service Health dashboard guidance says that dashboard is currently available only to Enterprise API customers. Do not assume it is available to every API user.

6. Contact support with details that help reproduce the problem
Before contacting support, note the exact error text, date and time with time zone, affected product and model, and the comparison tests you tried and their results. Include the browser or app version and account or service tier when relevant. For API issues, provide the endpoint, model, relevant time range, error messages or rates, and request ID if available. OpenAI’s ChatGPT troubleshooting guidance also suggests collecting a HAR file and browser-console errors for persistent blank, frozen, or stuck sessions; share diagnostic files only through the provider’s support channel.
For API-specific investigation, see OpenAI’s API troubleshooting guidance. It was marked “Updated: 8 days ago” when accessed on October 3, 2026, so check the live article for current instructions. Providers expose different status details and support tools; OpenAI’s steps should not be assumed to apply identically to every service.
