Use Selenium WebDriver to open each authorized page in a repeatable browser setup, set the viewport and page state, then save the current window as a PNG. Treat each image as evidence of one browser session—not as an accessibility audit or proof of WCAG conformance. Record the conditions for each capture and assess accessibility separately against applicable criteria.
Capture a page with Selenium WebDriver
In Python, Selenium’s save_screenshot() saves the current browser window as a PNG. The example below creates an output folder, sets a consistent viewport, opens a page and closes the browser even if capture fails. This captures the current window after navigation; for a meaningful audit record, wait for the content and state you intend to assess before saving. The code uses Selenium’s documented API and is not a claim that it has been run against a particular NGO site.
Capture a single element
When the evidence concerns one component, locate it and use Selenium’s element screenshot method rather than saving the whole window:

Plan captures so another person can interpret them
A screenshot depends on the browser context and what was displayed at capture time. Use a consistent plan for the pages, viewports and interactions you need to document.
- Confirm authorization and target URLs. Establish that you may access and document the site. Permission, privacy and retention requirements depend on the specific organization and circumstances; the general screenshot method does not settle them.
- Make the setup reproducible. Record the browser and Selenium versions, viewport dimensions, URL, date and time, and any relevant state, such as a menu being open or a form error being visible.
- Wait for the relevant state. Navigate to the page, allow the content or interaction state under review to render, and then capture. For example, capture a validation message only after submitting the form that triggers it.
- Use descriptive filenames. Names such as
home-desktop-menu-closed.pnganddonate-mobile-validation-error.pngmake page and state easier to identify. - Maintain a capture log. Link each file to its URL and test state, along with the setup details above. This makes the evidence easier to review and repeat.
Coverage should be planned around the pages and tasks being assessed, the browser and viewport, relevant interaction states, and repeatability. Taking more screenshots alone does not make an audit more complete or reliable.

A screenshot can help show a visible issue or explain a finding, but it cannot establish keyboard operability, screen-reader output, semantic markup or all other relevant behavior. Assess the page and its interactions against the applicable accessibility criteria, and document findings separately from the image. The W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) technical standard contains normative requirements; W3C’s supporting material is informative guidance rather than the standard itself.
Attach a screenshot to a finding when the image helps explain what appeared in the documented session. Do not present the image by itself as proof that a page does—or does not—conform to WCAG.
Check whether GIGW applies to the organization
GIGW 3.0 is official guidance for Indian government websites and apps at central, state, district and local government levels. Its scope materials connect the guidance to WCAG 2.1, the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016, and the Information Technology Act, 2000. An NGO website is not automatically governed by GIGW just because the organization is in India. Check whether the organization or service falls within a relevant government scope or obligation before choosing GIGW as the evaluation basis.

Troubleshoot common capture problems
The screenshot file is missing
Check that the output directory exists and that the process can write to it. The example creates the screenshots directory before saving; also confirm that the script reached the capture line rather than exiting on a navigation or driver error.
The image shows a loading screen or incomplete content
The capture records what was on screen when save_screenshot() ran. Wait for the relevant content or interaction state to render before capturing, and note the condition used in the log. The example does not add a site-specific wait because the correct condition varies by page.
The capture is not comparable to a previous one
Compare the recorded URL, browser and Selenium versions, viewport, time and interaction state. A changed viewport or a closed menu instead of an open one can produce a different image without indicating a change in the underlying accessibility behavior.

The image looks fine, but you cannot verify an interaction
A static image cannot demonstrate keyboard behavior, screen-reader output or page semantics. Test the relevant behavior separately and record the result as an audit finding; use the screenshot only as supporting visual evidence.
You are unsure whether to assess against GIGW
Do not infer applicability from the NGO’s location. First determine whether the organization or service falls within a government scope or obligation; separately verify any current eligibility requirements before describing GIGW or STQC certification as an available outcome.
