On an iPhone 13, press and quickly release the Side button and Volume Up button together. In the screenshot preview, choose Full Page when it is offered. If that control is missing, your content is not exposing Apple’s supported full-page capture workflow: there is no universal setting that forces one long still image in every app. For a Safari webpage, save the page as a PDF; for app content that must remain an image, capture overlapping frames and stitch them; when a still image is not essential, record yourself scrolling.
What the missing Full Page button means
Apple documents Full Page as a context-dependent option in the screenshot preview. Its example is an entire webpage in Safari, where the page extends below the visible screen. The option is not promised for every third-party app, feed, chat, document viewer or custom interface. Therefore, not seeing Full Page on an iPhone 13 does not prove that the phone lacks the capability, and changing a hidden setting will not make the control appear everywhere.
Choose the workaround according to the result you need:
| What you need | Best built-in route | Output | Limitation |
|---|---|---|---|
| A whole supported webpage | Screenshot, then Full Page | Long capture saved as an image or PDF | Only appears when the content supports it |
| A Safari page when Full Page is absent | Share → Markup → Save File To | PDF in the Files location you select | PDF rather than a long raster image |
| Long app content as an image | Several overlapping screenshots and stitching | One manually assembled image | Requires alignment and editing |
| A record of scrolling, not a still | Screen Recording from Control Center | Video in Photos | Some apps may block recording |
Take a normal screenshot first
- Open the webpage, message, document or other content and scroll to the point where the capture should begin.
- Quickly press and release the Side button and Volume Up button at the same time. Do not hold them; holding can trigger other controls instead of a screenshot.
- Tap the thumbnail preview when it appears so the screenshot editing workflow opens.
- Look for the Full Page tab or control. If it is present, select it, review the long preview, and choose the available save command for an image or PDF.
Apple’s procedure and labels can vary slightly with the current iOS interface, but the hardware gesture on iPhone 13 remains Side plus Volume Up. Apple’s screenshot guide describes the gesture and the supported Full Page workflow.

When Full Page does not appear in Safari
Save the webpage as a PDF
For a Safari page, the dependable built-in alternative is a PDF. With the page open, tap Share, choose Markup, then tap Save File To. Select a folder in Files and confirm the save. Apple documents this exact route in its guide to annotating and saving a webpage as a PDF.
This is usually the cleanest way to retain a long article, receipt or reference page when you do not need a single image. The resulting file can preserve selectable text and multiple pages, while a stitched screenshot is a raster image that is harder to search or edit.
Check the content before assuming it is unsupported
- Make sure you captured from Safari itself, not a page displayed inside another app’s embedded browser.
- Open the screenshot preview immediately and check for Full Page before dismissing it.
- Try the capture again from the top of the page if you started in a nested panel or overlay; Full Page applies to the supported scrollable content, not necessarily every layer on screen.
If the control still does not appear, use the PDF route rather than repeatedly searching Settings. Apple does not document a universal switch that enables Full Page in unsupported apps.
Make one long image from app content
When the destination requires a PNG or JPEG rather than a PDF, manual stitching is the practical fallback. It works with a chat, feed, app screen or document that does not expose Apple’s Full Page control, but it is a capture-and-edit process rather than an iPhone-wide feature.
- Position the content at the top of the section you need and take a screenshot with Side plus Volume Up.
- Scroll downward by a measured amount, leaving a clearly visible overlap with the previous frame. Repeating a heading, line of text or image edge makes alignment easier.
- Capture the next frame. Continue until the end of the required content, keeping the overlap consistent and avoiding accidental taps on links or controls.
- Open the images in a stitching or image-editing tool that can place them in one vertical canvas.
- Align each pair using the repeated overlap, remove duplicate areas, and crop the final canvas to the content boundaries.
- Export the assembled image in the format and quality required by your recipient or app.
Overlapping frames are important: screenshots with gaps cannot be reconstructed reliably, while a small repeated area gives you visual reference for alignment. Keep the phone still horizontally, and capture at a comfortable zoom so text remains legible after the images are combined. This method is a practical workaround; Apple does not guarantee automatic stitching in every app.

Use Screen Recording when a video is acceptable
If the reader needs to see the act of scrolling rather than receive a single still, use iOS Screen Recording. Open Control Center, tap the Screen Recording control, wait for the countdown, scroll through the content at a readable pace, then stop the recording from the status control or Control Center. The finished video appears in Photos. Apple’s screen-recording guide notes that some apps may not allow their content to be recorded, so test the target app before relying on this method.
Recording is useful for demonstrating a long workflow or preserving motion, but it is not a substitute when someone needs a printable page, searchable text or a still image for a report.
Fix common problems
The screenshot preview disappears before you can inspect it
Tap the thumbnail as soon as it appears in the lower-left corner. If it vanishes, take another screenshot; the capture itself is still handled by iOS, but the editing preview is temporary.

Full Page follows the supported scrollable document. It may not include a separate overlay, a menu that was closed, or content that loads only after an interaction. Reopen the relevant page, let the section load, and capture from the correct scroll position.
The PDF option is not where expected
Use Safari’s Share sheet, select Markup, and then choose Save File To. The destination is selected in the Files picker; it is not automatically the Photos library.

The stitched image has jumps or duplicated text
Re-capture with a larger, consistent overlap and avoid changing zoom between frames. During editing, align distinctive text or image edges first, then trim the duplicate strip. If the source moves while you scroll, capture shorter sections so each overlap remains stable.
Screen Recording produces a black or incomplete result
Some apps restrict recording their content. Try the same steps in a permitted screen, or use screenshots and stitching instead. The restriction is imposed by the app, not corrected by a screenshot setting.
Privacy, storage and file choice
Use the least expansive output that satisfies the task. A PDF is generally better for a long Safari article that must be read or archived; a stitched image is appropriate when a receiving system accepts only an image; a recording is appropriate for demonstrating a sequence. Review sensitive material before sharing: every screenshot frame, PDF page and video can contain account names, notifications or private messages that were visible during capture.
For a long capture, leave enough free storage for the original frames and the edited result. If you are stitching manually, keep the source screenshots until the final image has been checked so you can correct a misaligned section without repeating the entire capture.
Or skip the browser setup
If the thing you need is a remote webpage screenshot for documentation, testing or an automated workflow rather than a capture of your iPhone screen, ScreenshotNeo can return the page image from one request. It is a website screenshot API and MCP server; it does not replace the iPhone gesture for app-only content, but it avoids configuring a browser when the target is a URL.
Rank #4
Before the capture, ScreenshotNeo accepts the cookie or consent banner like a visitor and removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups and chat widgets; each cleanup step can be turned off. Bot checks or CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads and cache hits are not billed, and the response identifies the page verdict and billing status in X-Page-Verdict and X-Billed headers. An MCP server provides take_screenshot, get_page_info and capture_pdf tools for Claude, Cursor and other MCP clients.
Every plan includes the same feature set: full-page capture with lazy images loaded, CSS-selector element capture, dark mode, device presets or a custom viewport, retina scale, PDF paper and margin controls, custom CSS and JavaScript, pre-capture clicks, hidden selectors, waits for a selector, delay or network idle, request and resource blocking, custom headers, cookies, user agent and Authorization, timezone and geolocation, transparent backgrounds, resizing, chosen cache TTL, signed links, asynchronous jobs with signed webhooks, bulk capture for up to 100 URLs per call, a usage API and an OpenAPI specification. Parameter names used by other screenshot APIs also work.
See the ScreenshotNeo documentation for the current request options. These runnable examples target a webpage; replace the URL with the page you are authorized to capture.
