For most pages, Microsoft Edge can capture the entire webpage without an add-on: open Screenshot with Ctrl+Shift+S, choose Capture full page, then copy or save the result. Install an extension such as GoFullPage when you specifically need its image/PDF export or editing workflow.
Use Edge’s built-in full-page Screenshot first
Edge’s Screenshot (formerly Web Capture) can include content below the visible viewport. It is available from a page’s context menu or Edge settings, and the documented shortcut is Ctrl+Shift+S. The wording and availability can differ by Edge version, device type and market.
Step-by-step
- Navigate to the webpage you need to preserve. Let the page finish loading; if it uses lazy-loaded images, scroll through it once so important media has a chance to load.
- Open Screenshot by pressing Ctrl+Shift+S. Alternatively, right-click the page and select Screenshot, or open Edge’s Settings and locate the Screenshot command.
- In the capture overlay, choose Capture full page. Edge generates a single tall image containing the page content that extends below the fold.
- Inspect the result for missing sections, sticky banners or unloaded media.
- Select Copy to place the image on the clipboard, or choose Save to write it to a file. Use the pen or touch markup tools before copying or saving if you need to draw attention to a region.
The capture is a rendered image, not an editable document. Text cannot be reflowed after capture, and very long pages can produce files that are awkward to open or share.
When an Edge add-on is the better choice
An extension is useful when you want a dedicated button, a different export format, or editing controls beyond Edge’s built-in markup. Add-ons run inside the browser, so review their requested permissions and install only from a source you trust.

Install an extension from Edge Add-ons
- Select Extensions beside the address bar.
- Choose Get Extensions for Microsoft Edge.
- Search for the extension you want, such as GoFullPage – Full Page Screen Capture.
- Select Get, review the permissions, and choose Add extension.
- Pin the extension from the Extensions menu if you want its icon beside the address bar.
Edge can also install extensions from the Chrome Web Store after you allow extensions from other stores in the browser. The permission prompt is still the point at which to check what pages, data or browser features the add-on can access.
GoFullPage workflow
The current Edge Add-ons listing for GoFullPage – Full Page Screen Capture says it captures the page in sections, assembles them, and opens the result in a new tab.
Capture and export
- Open the page and wait for its content to render.
- Select the GoFullPage icon, or use its listed shortcut Alt+Shift+P.
- Wait while the extension captures each portion and stitches the sections together.
- In the new tab, choose the available download format: image or PDF.
The listing notes that exceptionally large pages may be split into separate images rather than delivered as one file. It also lists a premium editor with crop, annotation and emoji tools. Because extension listings and features can change, check the current listing and the permissions shown in your own Edge installation.

Make a clean, complete capture
Prepare dynamic pages
- Wait for charts, comments and images to finish loading before starting the capture.
- Scroll from top to bottom once on pages that load content only when it enters the viewport.
- Close transient menus, translation bars and browser popups that would otherwise appear in the image.
- If a page has a sticky header, check the assembled image for repeated headers or overlaps.
Choose the right output
Use Edge Screenshot when you only need a quick image for a bug report, documentation note or message. Choose GoFullPage when a PDF export or its listed editor is part of your workflow. If the destination accepts only images, verify that a large capture was not split into multiple files.

Protect sensitive data
Both the built-in tool and extensions capture what is rendered in the tab, including account names, order details and private messages. Sign out or redact sensitive regions before sharing. For an extension, read the permission dialog and remove it later from edge://extensions if you no longer need it.
Why the Screenshot command may be missing
Browser or device differences
Microsoft notes that Screenshot availability and functionality vary by device type, market and Edge version. Update Edge, restart it, and try the right-click menu as well as the keyboard shortcut. A feature label may appear as Capture full page or use slightly different wording.

Managed computer policy
On an organization-managed computer, the WebCaptureEnabled policy controls the built-in Screenshot feature. Microsoft’s policy reference applies it to Edge version 77 and later. If the command is absent while extensions are also restricted, ask your administrator whether web capture is disabled; changing browser settings yourself may not override the policy.
Shortcut conflicts
Another application or an accessibility utility can intercept Ctrl+Shift+S. Use the page’s right-click menu or Edge Settings instead, or temporarily disable the conflicting shortcut.

The result stops before the bottom
- Confirm that you selected Capture full page, not a visible-area or rectangular selection mode.
- Reload the page and wait for network activity to settle.
- Scroll through the page once to trigger lazy-loaded sections, then capture again.
- Try GoFullPage if the built-in capture repeatedly fails on that site; its section-by-section approach can handle some layouts differently.
Images, fonts or charts are missing
These assets may still be loading, may require interaction, or may be blocked by the page. Wait longer, dismiss consent dialogs, and perform the interaction that reveals the content before capturing. A screenshot cannot include pixels the page never rendered.

The image is too tall to use
Save the capture and crop it into logical sections, or use GoFullPage’s listed editor if available. For exceptionally large pages, expect GoFullPage to produce separate images. A PDF export can be easier to paginate and print, but verify page breaks before distributing it.
The extension icon does nothing
- Make sure the extension is enabled at edge://extensions.
- Refresh the tab after installation and grant any requested site access.
- Test a normal webpage; browser-internal pages and restricted tabs may not permit extensions to inject capture code.
- Check whether an enterprise policy blocks the extension or its keyboard shortcut.
The screenshot contains a consent banner or chat bubble
Dismiss the banner and close the widget before capturing. Edge’s built-in tool and ordinary add-ons reproduce the rendered page; they do not automatically remove every third-party overlay.

A full-page capture requires Edge or the extension to render and process the entire document. Long pages with high-resolution images, animations or many embedded frames consume more memory and take longer than a viewport screenshot. Keep the tab open until the result appears, avoid starting several captures simultaneously, and save the file before closing the result tab.
For repeatable documentation, record the page URL, capture date, Edge version and whether you used the built-in tool or an extension. The same URL can change between captures because content, advertisements and personalization change. A screenshot is a visual record at one moment, not a permanent copy of the underlying HTML.
