Open the website in a private browser window, then press Windows+Shift+S to capture it with Snipping Tool. Choose a capture mode, select the page area, then save or copy the snip. The Windows screenshot steps are the same whether you use Chrome Incognito or Edge InPrivate.
Take a screenshot in a private browser window
- Open a private window. In Chrome, press Ctrl+Shift+N, or select More > New Incognito window. In Edge, select Settings and more > New InPrivate window.
- Open and arrange the website. Navigate to the page and position or resize the browser so the content you want is visible.
- Start the screenshot. Press Windows+Shift+S. The Snipping Tool capture overlay opens.
- Choose the capture mode and select the content. Drag around the area, or use another mode described below.
- Save or copy the result. The snip is copied to the Snipping Tool window, where you can edit it, annotate or crop it, save it, or share it.

Choose what to capture
- Rectangular snip: Drag a rectangle around the part of the web page you need.
- Freeform snip: Draw an irregular outline around the desired content.
- Window snip: Capture a browser window rather than selecting a region manually.
- Full-screen snip: Capture the entire display. Microsoft also documents pressing PrtSc to copy a full-screen capture to the clipboard.
Use a region or window capture when you want to exclude other open apps or desktop content. A full-screen image includes everything visible on the display, not just the website.
What Incognito and InPrivate do—and do not do
Private browsing affects the browser session, not the Windows screenshot process. It limits or clears some local browsing data when the private session ends; it does not make your activity invisible to websites or organizations managing the network.

Chrome Incognito
Google says Incognito limits the information Chrome saves on the device. Temporary site data is removed when the session ends, but bookmarks you save and files you download remain. Websites and network-managing organizations may still observe your activity. Read Google’s explanation of Incognito.
Edge InPrivate
Microsoft Support says: “Microsoft Edge will delete your browsing history, cookies, and site data, as well as passwords, addresses, and form data when you close all InPrivate windows.” Favorites and downloaded files remain, and extensions allowed to run InPrivate may save browsing history. The screenshot is a separate file
Saving or sharing a screenshot creates an image separate from the private session. Closing Incognito or InPrivate does not remove a screenshot already saved to disk or sent to someone.

When a screenshot shortcut is blocked
On a managed computer, an organization may restrict screenshots. Microsoft documents an Edge policy named DisableScreenshots that blocks screenshot keyboard shortcuts and extension APIs; Edge Web Capture or operating-system and other applications may still provide capture methods, depending on the device’s configuration. Google also documents screenshot prevention for managed users and browsers with Chrome Enterprise Premium; its policy can target websites and cover keyboard shortcuts and apps or extensions using Chrome’s capture API.

Windows+Shift+S does nothing
Try opening Snipping Tool from Windows, and check whether your work or school administrator restricts screenshot capture. Managed browser policies can disable some capture methods.

The image includes more than the web page
Use the rectangular or window mode instead of capturing the full display. Review the snip before saving, and crop it if needed.
The screenshot is missing content farther down the page
The ordinary screen snip captures what is visible, not the entire scrollable page. Scroll the page to capture additional sections in separate snips, or use an appropriate page-capture tool if you need a full-page image.

That is expected: browser private-session cleanup does not delete images you saved or shared. Remove the screenshot separately if you no longer want it stored.

Does Incognito mode change how Windows takes a screenshot?
No. It changes the browser session; Windows+Shift+S still opens the Snipping Tool capture overlay.
Does a website get notified when I take a screenshot in Incognito?
The cited browser guidance does not establish a universal notification behavior. Private browsing itself does not make site activity invisible.
