Record a video with the Camera app
- Open the Camera app.
- Select Video. It may appear in the mode strip, or you may need to swipe through the modes to find it.
- Frame your scene in the viewfinder. To change between the front and rear cameras, tap the camera-switch control; some models also let you swipe on the viewfinder.
- Tap Record to begin filming.
- Tap Stop when you are finished. Open Gallery and select the clip to play it.
Samsung describes Video as the automatic-settings mode in its Galaxy A17 camera guide. The layout can differ by phone and software version; for examples of Samsung’s device-specific instructions, see its Galaxy A27 camera guide.

Choose a video resolution
For a quick recording, use the default Video mode and the resolution shown on your phone. If you want to change it, look for the video-size or resolution control in Camera. The choices are not the same across Galaxy phones: Samsung’s A17 guide, for example, lists HD and FHD, while its 8K instructions apply to supported models only. Check Samsung’s A17 guidance or 8K recording guide for those specific examples.
Higher resolutions can create larger files and put more demand on the phone. Samsung says 4K and 8K recordings can only be saved to internal memory on the supported devices covered by its 8K guide. Samsung also notes that some phones may stop high-resolution recording after 10 minutes to manage processing, battery use and heat; that limit is not universal. For a longer recording, Samsung recommends trying FHD or HD where available. See its recording-limit troubleshooting guidance for the qualification.

Get steadier footage and clearer sound
Keep the phone steady
Hold the phone with both hands and move it deliberately. Some Galaxy models have video stabilization features, but their availability and controls differ. Samsung documents video stabilization settings for the Galaxy Z Flip6 and automatic Object Image Stabilization for the Galaxy S22 series. Check your own Camera screen or settings rather than expecting the same control on every model.
Use the microphone options your phone supports
The built-in microphone is enough for a basic recording. On supported phones, Pro Video may offer input and pickup-direction controls, including Omni, Front, Rear, USB, Bluetooth and Bluetooth Mix. Samsung gives a USB-C microphone as an example of a USB input, but this is not a feature to assume is available on every Galaxy phone. Find, play and share your recording
Open Gallery and select the video to play it. On supported devices, Gallery can also be used to trim or edit a recording. Samsung’s 8K guide describes sharing through supported options such as YouTube or a compatible TV; large, high-resolution files may take longer to save or upload. The available editing and sharing options depend on the device and destination.
