Safari on Mac has no Apple-documented built-in command for taking a scrolling screenshot of an entire webpage. The Mac screenshot shortcuts capture the screen, a window, or a selected area; they do not stitch a long page into one image. Use those shortcuts for a visible-area image, or save the page as a Web Archive if you need to keep the full webpage. If you need a full-page image file, a screenshot API such as ScreenshotNeo is another option.
What Safari on Mac can capture
Apple’s Mac screenshot instructions cover the whole screen, a window, or a selected portion—not a scrolling webpage capture. The output from these shortcuts is a screenshot of what you capture, rather than a stitched image of the full page. See Apple Support’s Mac screenshot guide.

Capture the whole screen
- Press and release Shift-Command-3.
- Open the resulting screenshot from its save location if you want to review or share it.
Capture a selected area
- Press and release Shift-Command-4.
- Drag to select the area you want.
- Release to take the screenshot.
Use the Screenshot app controls
Press Shift-Command-5 to open the Screenshot app in macOS Mojave 10.14 or later. Its controls let you choose a capture type and adjust options such as a timer and save location. It does not turn a long Safari page into a scrolling screenshot. Apple notes that supported Macs running macOS Tahoe 26 or later may also offer SDR or HDR capture-format choices.
Save an entire webpage from Safari
If your goal is to keep the webpage rather than create a single screenshot image, Safari can save it as a Web Archive or Page Source. In Safari, choose File > Save As, then select the format. Apple’s instructions are at Save part or all of a webpage in Safari on Mac.

- Web Archive: saves webpage graphics and keeps links working while the destination pages remain available. This is a webpage file, not a screenshot image. Some webpages may prevent saving items that appear on the page.
- Page Source: saves the page’s HTML source code. It is not a visual capture of the rendered page.
Do not use iPhone’s Full Page steps on Mac
Apple documents a Full Page screenshot workflow for iPhone: take a screenshot, choose Full Page, then save as an image or PDF. Those are iPhone instructions, not a Safari-on-Mac feature. See Apple’s iPhone screenshot guide.

Troubleshooting
Shift-Command-5 opens controls, but the page is still only partly captured
That is expected: Apple’s Mac screenshot controls capture the screen, a window, or a selected area; they do not document a scrolling-page mode. Save as a Web Archive if you need to preserve the whole webpage, or use a screenshot API if you specifically need an image.

The Web Archive is missing an item
Some webpages may prevent saving items displayed on the page. If you need a visual record of what is visible, take a regular screenshot; if you need a full-page image, use a capture service instead.
The saved Page Source does not look like the page
Page Source is HTML source code, not a rendered screenshot. Choose Web Archive to retain webpage graphics, or capture the visible screen for an image.
