To take a screenshot on a Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra, press and release the Side button and Volume Down at the same time. A brief screen flash confirms the capture. You can also enable Palm swipe to capture, extend a screenshot with Scroll capture, and find saved images in Gallery.
Take a screenshot with the buttons
- Open the screen you want to capture.
- Press the Side button and Volume Down together, then release both promptly. Do not hold them down; Samsung’s S21 Ultra guide describes a brief simultaneous press.
- Look for the screen flash confirming the screenshot.
The image is saved in Gallery. Open Gallery > Albums > Screenshots to find it. Samsung Canada also describes finding screenshots through My Files > Images. Menu labels can vary by software version or region. Samsung Canada’s screenshot instructions.

Use Palm swipe instead
If you would rather use a gesture, turn on Palm swipe to capture. On many Galaxy software versions, the path is Settings > Advanced features > Motions and gestures > Palm swipe to capture. If the path differs, search Settings for “Palm swipe to capture.” Swipe the edge of your hand across the display to capture the screen. Samsung’s US guide notes that gesture availability varies by model and software version.

#1 Best Overall
- The Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra (Renewed) is a premium smartphone with a 6.8-inch AMOLED display, 120Hz refresh rate, and powerful camera system featuring a 108MP main lens and up to 100x zoom. It supports the S Pen, offers strong performance with 5G connectivity, and is ideal for users seeking flagship features at a better value.
Capture more than one screen with Scroll capture
For a long page, first take a regular screenshot using the buttons or Palm swipe. When the screenshot toolbar appears, tap the Scroll capture icon, shown as downward arrows. Tap it again as needed to extend the image down the page. The option appears only when the content continues beyond the visible screen. Samsung Canada’s guide.
If the toolbar does not appear, check Settings > Advanced features > Screenshots and screen recorder > Show toolbar after capturing. The exact labels may differ on your S21 Ultra’s software build or in your region. Some apps and screens do not support scrolling capture. Samsung Saudi Arabia’s support page, updated April 23, 2026.

If the screenshot shortcut or gesture fails
- Buttons: Press Side and Volume Down together and release promptly. Samsung Australia Support notes that timing the two-button press can be tricky and that bulky phone cases can interfere. Try pressing both buttons directly, or remove the case briefly to check access. Samsung Australia’s screenshot guide.
- Palm swipe: Check that Palm swipe to capture is enabled, close the keyboard, and swipe with the edge of your hand rather than your palm flat against the display.
- Scroll capture: Confirm that the page extends beyond the screen and that the screenshot toolbar is enabled. The feature may be unavailable on some apps or screens.
- Security restriction: If an app displays a message blocking screenshots, respect that restriction. Samsung gives banking apps as an example of apps that may prevent capture; there is no supported promise that a setting or third-party tool can bypass it. Samsung’s US support guidance.
