A flash indicates the screenshot was captured; find it in Gallery under Albums > Screenshots. For a long capture, use Scroll capture when it appears, or enable Palm swipe to capture for a gesture-based alternative.
Take a screenshot with the buttons
- Open the screen you want to capture.
- Press the Side key and Volume down key together, then release them promptly. Samsung’s A54 5G manual identifies this as the standard screenshot shortcut. Samsung says a flash indicates a successful capture: Samsung’s screenshot instructions.
If the screenshot does not register, try pressing and releasing both keys simultaneously rather than holding them down. A longer press may trigger another power-related action, depending on the model and software.

Use Palm swipe instead
- Open Settings > Advanced features > Motions and gestures.
- Turn on Palm swipe to capture.
- Swipe the edge of your hand across the screen while keeping it in contact with the display.
If the gesture does not work, confirm the setting is on and keep the side of your hand touching the screen throughout the swipe. Menu names and availability can vary by software version, carrier, or device configuration.
Capture a long page with Scroll capture
Take a screenshot of the scrollable content using the button shortcut. When the screenshot toolbar appears, tap Scroll capture, shown as downward arrows, to extend the image through more of the page. Tap again as needed; stop when the capture reaches the content you need.

Scroll capture appears only for supported content. If the arrows are not shown, that app or screen may not support the feature. Samsung’s Galaxy screenshot guidance describes the toolbar and scrolling capture; Android’s general guidance also notes that scrolling screenshots are supported on Android 12 and later on most scrollable screens: Google Android Help.
Find, edit, and share screenshots
Open Gallery > Albums > Screenshots. The A54 manual says a Screenshots album is created automatically. You can also browse to My Files > Images. In Gallery, open a capture to review it, edit it, or share it.

Change screenshot settings
On the A54, look under Settings > Advanced features > Screenshots and screen recorder. Depending on your software and carrier, available options may include:

- Showing the toolbar after a capture.
- Deleting a screenshot after sharing it from the toolbar.
- Hiding the status and navigation bars in captures.
- Saving original screenshots.
- Selecting JPG or PNG format.
- Choosing where screenshots are saved.
If a listed option is missing, use the labels available on your installed software; Samsung notes that features and menus can vary by model, software, and provider.

Why can’t I take a screenshot in an app?
Some apps and screens block screenshots to protect private or secure information. Banking apps are one example. Samsung says a blocked attempt may show “Can’t take screenshot due to security measure.” If screenshots work elsewhere but not in one app, the restriction may be intentional rather than a problem with the phone.

Samsung’s general Galaxy support also describes voice commands and a Tasks Edge panel shortcut, but these are not directly confirmed in the A54 manual cited here. Check whether the relevant feature is present on your phone before relying on it. If you need moving content rather than a still image, look for the separate screen recorder controls in the same Advanced features area.
