Those long-capture controls are conditional: a regular screenshot records only what is currently visible, and Reddit’s app or website view may not support one continuous image. Choose the right way to preserve the thread

Decide first whether you need visual proof of what appeared on screen or simply reliable access to the original. A screenshot can preserve layout, deleted-looking context and selected comments, but it can also expose usernames and other personal information.
iPhone: capture a Reddit thread
- Open the post in the Reddit app or in a browser. Expand the comments and position the screen at the beginning of the material you want to preserve.
- On an iPhone with Face ID, quickly press and release the side button and a volume button together. On an iPhone with a Home button, quickly press and release the Home button and side button together.
- Tap the thumbnail preview when it appears. If a Full Page tab is offered, select it, review the preview, crop if necessary, and save the result as an image or PDF.
- Scroll through the preview before saving. A full-page document can include more of the page than you intended, while comments loaded only after scrolling may not be present.
Apple documents Full Page for content extending beyond the display, such as a webpage in Safari. It does not promise that every Reddit screen, especially every in-app view, will provide that tab. If Full Page is missing, take consecutive screenshots while scrolling. Keep a small overlap between images so readers can follow the thread and so you can identify where one image ends.
When the iPhone stops loading comments
Reddit may load more comments only as you approach the bottom. Pause after each scroll until new comments appear, then capture. If a comment is collapsed, expand it before the relevant screenshot. A single full-page capture cannot preserve content that Reddit never loaded.

Android: use scrolling capture when available
- Open the Reddit thread and expand the post, comment branches and media you need.
- Use your phone’s screenshot command. The button combination varies by manufacturer; use the handset maker’s documented method if the usual power-and-volume shortcut does not work.
- Look for Capture more, Scroll, or an equivalent control in the screenshot toolbar. Drag the handles or continue scrolling until the final comment you need is included, then save.
- If no scrolling control appears, make a numbered sequence of screenshots as you move down the thread. Overlap each frame and record the order immediately.
Google says scrolling screenshots work on Android 12 and later, on most screens that allow scrolling. “Most” is important: the Reddit app, browser, manufacturer skin and particular view can all affect availability. A Xiaomi phone, for example, has its own scrolling-screenshot workflow; do not apply Xiaomi’s button sequence to every Android device.
Improve readability on a long Android capture
- Use portrait orientation for narrow comment text unless the thread contains a wide image.
- Collapse unrelated comment branches before capturing so the final file is shorter and easier to audit.
- Leave the post title and subreddit visible in the first image, then preserve usernames or timestamps only when they matter to your purpose.
Windows: capture a Reddit thread on a PC
- Open the thread at reddit.com in your browser and resize the window so text is readable.
- Use Windows’ screenshot function or Snipping Tool to capture the relevant screen region or window.
- For a thread taller than the display, scroll and capture additional sections. Keep overlap and name the files in order, such as reddit-01, reddit-02 and reddit-03.
- Arrange the images in order if you need a continuous record. A PDF or contact sheet can make a sequence easier to review, but do not imply it is one native scrolling capture.
Microsoft documents screen, window and region capture in Snipping Tool. The documented controls do not establish a Reddit-specific scrolling capture, so plan on multiple sections when the thread exceeds the window.
Mac and other desktop systems
Use the computer’s built-in screenshot controls to capture the visible Reddit window or a selected region, then scroll and capture further sections. Keep the same overlap and file-order practice described for Windows. The available shortcut and whether a browser offers a full-page option vary by macOS release, browser and page; verify the current Apple instructions for your setup rather than relying on an unqualified key combination.
How to capture comments without losing context
Start with an identifying frame
Make the first image show the subreddit, post title and enough of the page to establish which thread you captured. If the title is not visible in later images, the opening frame supplies context.

Preserve comment hierarchy
Reddit nests replies. Expand the branches you need and capture indentation, author labels and vote or timestamp context when relevant. If a branch is collapsed, a later reader may not know that intermediate replies existed.

Use overlap instead of guessing the seam
Include several lines from the previous screen in the next image. Overlap is more reliable than trying to stop at an exact pixel because dynamic loading can shift the page.
Check the saved files
Open every image after saving. Confirm that media finished loading, text is legible, the sequence is complete and no notification or unrelated private content entered the frame.
Privacy, sharing and alternatives inside Reddit
Reddit lets you share a post by copying its link or choosing an available app. It also supports copying a direct comment link. The exact share-sheet choices depend on your device, operating system and installed apps. Reddit’s sharing guidance says off-platform sharing does not include the profile page and username, although additional device information may be sent to the destination service and is not visible to people viewing the shared content.

To revisit a post, open its overflow menu on reddit.com or in the iOS or Android app and choose Save. Find saved posts through your profile. Saving is useful for later access but is not a screenshot or a guarantee that the thread will remain unchanged.
Before publishing an image, inspect every frame for usernames, profile pictures, notification banners, private messages, email addresses and other identifying details. Reddit specifically advises editing personally identifiable information out of screenshots when posting them. Crop or redact details that are not necessary, and do not expose private information merely to provide context.

There is no Full Page, Capture more or Scroll button
The operating system may not support long capture for that screen, or Reddit may be running in a view the feature cannot read. Use overlapping screenshots, switch between the Reddit app and a browser, or share the post link instead.
The capture ends before the comments do
Only content loaded into the page can be captured. Scroll gradually, wait for comments and images to load, expand the branches you need, then retry. For an automated capture, add a selector wait or delay.
The image is blurry or unreadable
Increase the viewport or device scale, capture fewer comments per image, or use a higher-resolution output. On mobile, avoid zooming so far out that text becomes unusable.
