Sign in to your university’s official portal, open the page you need, and use your device’s built-in screenshot controls. Capture only the relevant area if possible, then review the saved image before sharing it. A screenshot usually records what is visible on screen—not necessarily the entire page—and it is not automatically an official substitute for a portal download, receipt, or form.
Before you capture a portal page
- Open the university’s official portal and sign in through its normal process. Never include your password or one-time code in a screenshot.
- Navigate to the relevant record or page, wait for it to finish loading, and close unrelated windows or tabs.
- Arrange the content so the relevant text is readable. Capture the smallest area that still shows the information and context requested.
- After taking the screenshot, open it and check for account details, other students’ information, browser notifications, and unrelated tabs. Crop or redact unrelated sensitive details before sharing when that is consistent with the institution’s requirements.
- Submit it only through the channel and in the format requested by your university.
Take a screenshot on Windows 10 or 11
- With the portal page open, press Windows logo key + Shift + S.
- Choose the appropriate Snipping Tool mode: rectangular snip, freeform snip, window snip, or full-screen snip. Drag or select the area you need.
- Select the Snipping Tool notification to review the capture, then edit or save it. Windows may copy the image to the clipboard as well.
For a full-screen snapshot copied to the clipboard, press PrtSc. Windows logo key + PrtSc may save a capture in PicturesScreenshots, depending on the device and configuration. If you cannot find it there, check the Snipping Tool notification or clipboard and the screenshot destination configured on your device. Microsoft documents the Windows logo key + Shift + S shortcut and the available snip modes in its Snipping Tool instructions.

Take a screenshot on Mac
- Open the portal page and arrange the content you need to show.
- Press Shift-Command-4 and drag over the area to capture. Use Shift-Command-3 for the whole screen, or Shift-Command-5 to open the Screenshot panel and choose a capture type.
- Review the thumbnail, then save or edit the image. Screenshots are saved to the desktop by default, though the destination can depend on system settings.

Take a screenshot on iPhone
- On an iPhone with Face ID, quickly press and release the Side button + Volume Up together. On a Touch ID model, use the applicable Side or Top button + Home combination.
- For a long webpage open in Safari, tap the screenshot preview and choose Full Page if that option appears.
- Review the capture, crop if necessary, and save it as an image or PDF. Find saved screenshots in Photos under Screenshots.
Apple documents full-page screenshots for webpage content that extends beyond the screen in its iPhone screenshot guide. The Full Page option applies to supported webpage captures; do not assume it is available for every portal screen or app.

Android and other devices
Android screenshot controls vary across manufacturers, models, software versions, and settings; there is no single shortcut established here for every device. Check the instructions for your specific phone or tablet and Android release. If the portal blocks capture or produces a blank image, do not try to bypass the control. Ask your university’s IT helpdesk for an approved way to provide the information.
Visible-screen capture or full-page record?
A standard screenshot captures the screen or selected region, so a long page may be cut off. If you need the complete record, first look for the portal’s own download or print feature and ask whether that file is accepted for your purpose. iPhone Safari offers a documented Full Page option for some webpage screenshots; availability and behavior differ by device, browser, and portal.

Choose a method based on the evidence you need: coverage (region, window, screen, or long page), readability at the selected scale, privacy of included information, accepted submission format, and device/browser support. Do not assume an image is an official substitute for a downloadable record, transaction receipt, or required form.

Student portals can display grades, attendance, fee records, course details, and account or identity information. The exact content depends on the institution and portal. For example, JIIT’s student-app privacy policy describes grades, attendance, fee records, and course details; MBSPSU’s privacy policy discusses portal-related personal-data handling and security/audit logging.

- Include only the details relevant to the request; avoid capturing another student’s record.
- Check the browser area and screen for notifications, open tabs, account identifiers, or unrelated private details.
- Keep the original privately if the screenshot relates to a complaint, support request, grade query, or fee issue. Share a cropped or redacted copy when that meets the institution’s requirements.
- Do not alter details material to the issue. If redaction could undermine the evidence, ask the recipient how to submit it safely.
There is no single screenshot rule established here for every Indian university. Follow the current instructions for your institution and the purpose of the submission. Portal experiences also differ: National Law School of India University describes DigiCampus as a web and mobile student ERP for academics, finance, attendance, and examinations in its IT services guidance; Andhra University’s student login page recommends desktop or laptop use for a better experience and says mobile downloads/uploads are not recommended for the B.Ed record workflow described there.

Common problems and what to do
- The screenshot is missing part of the page: A normal capture includes only the selected area or visible screen. Capture separate sections if appropriate, or use the portal’s download/print function for a complete record.
- The capture is blank or blocked: Do not attempt to defeat a portal restriction. Contact the university’s IT/helpdesk and ask for an approved evidence or export method.
- The text is too small: Reposition or zoom the page before capture, and select a tighter crop around the relevant content. Check the saved image at its actual size before sending.
- You cannot find the saved image: On Mac, the desktop is the default location unless settings specify otherwise. On iPhone, check Photos under Screenshots. On Windows, inspect the Snipping Tool notification and configured save location; Windows+PrtSc may use PicturesScreenshots depending on system and hardware.
- The recipient rejects the image: Ask which format and channel are required. The portal may provide a more suitable official download, print view, receipt, or form.
