On a Samsung Galaxy phone or tablet, open the scrollable page, press Power/Side + Volume Down, then tap the Scroll capture button (the icon with two downward arrows). Tap the icon again to extend the image, and finish when the content you need is included. Samsung saves the resulting long image in Gallery. If the button is missing, enable Show toolbar after capturing in Settings, then test a page that can actually scroll.
What Scroll capture does
Scroll capture extends an ordinary screenshot into a single, tall image. It is built into supported Galaxy software; you do not need a separate camera mode, subscription or screenshot app. The control appears only when the current screen has content that can scroll. A short, fixed screen may show the normal screenshot toolbar without offering a scrolling option.
Because Galaxy models and One UI versions differ, Samsung may label the feature Scroll capture while some settings screens use Screen capture. Button behavior, toolbar layout and availability can vary by model, carrier and software version.
How to take a scrolling screenshot

Open scrollable content
Open the web page, article, conversation or document you want to save. Scroll it manually once to confirm that more content is available below the visible screen. This also places the page at the starting position you want to capture.

Take a normal screenshot
Press the Power/Side button and Volume Down button together, then release them after a brief moment. The display flashes and the screenshot toolbar should appear along the bottom or side of the screen.

Start Scroll capture
Tap the toolbar icon showing two downward arrows. The phone advances the page and adds the newly revealed content to the screenshot.

Extend the image
Tap the same icon again each time you want to include another section. On supported configurations, Samsung says pressing and holding the icon can continue scrolling farther. Watch the preview so you do not capture unrelated material.

Finish and save
When the full section is included, tap outside the toolbar if that is the finish action shown on your device. Samsung automatically resizes the captured image and saves it to Gallery. Open Gallery to crop, edit or share it.

Where to find a missing Scroll capture button
If the screenshot works but the scrolling control is absent, check the toolbar setting first:
- Open Settings.
- Go to Advanced features.
- Tap Screenshots and screen recorder.
- Turn on Show toolbar after capturing.
Some Galaxy software uses Screen capture instead of “Screenshots and screen recorder.” Use Settings search for Screenshots or Screen capture when the path above does not match your menus. Samsung’s labels and available controls are not identical on every model or software release.
If the toolbar still does not appear
- Take the screenshot again and release both buttons promptly; holding them too long can open the power menu or change the result.
- Try a different page that clearly scrolls, such as a long web article. Scroll capture is conditional on scrolling being possible.
- Restart the phone and install any available system update, then test again.
- Check your model-specific Samsung support documentation if the toolbar setting is unavailable.
Why Scroll capture may be unavailable
The screen cannot scroll
The option is designed for content that extends beyond the visible display. A home screen, static image or short note may not expose it.
The app blocks screenshots
Banking, streaming, secure-workspace and other privacy-sensitive apps can prevent screenshots or restrict capture. Android may show a warning, produce a blank result or omit the toolbar. That is an app security policy, not a button fault.

Your model or software does not expose the feature
Samsung cautions that screenshot features depend on model and software version. Older devices, regional firmware and some managed devices can have different menus or capabilities. Do not assume that another Galaxy model’s instructions apply exactly to yours.
The page changes while it scrolls
Live feeds, animated pages and content that loads continuously can produce gaps, repeated sections or an incomplete ending. Pause the page where possible, wait for images to load and capture a bounded section rather than an endlessly updating feed.
Getting a cleaner, more usable long screenshot
Start at the right position
Scroll to the top of the section you need before taking the first screenshot. Scroll capture generally extends from the current view; it is not a command to reconstruct an entire app history.
Let lazy content load
On a web page, wait for images, tables and expandable sections to finish loading. If the page inserts advertisements or banners while the capture moves, the final image can contain unexpected spacing.

Capture only what you need
Stop at the end of the relevant article, receipt or conversation. Very tall captures are harder to read and share, and Samsung may resize the saved image. The final dimensions and length depend on the content and device.

Check the result in Gallery
Open Gallery immediately after capturing. Look for missing lower sections, duplicated seams, clipped text or a blank area. Crop unnecessary space and use the share sheet to send the image or save it to another app.
Alternative ways to start a screenshot
Some Galaxy devices offer additional screenshot gestures, such as a palm swipe, and supported S Pen models may provide a capture command. These are optional ways to start the initial screenshot; they do not guarantee that the Scroll capture control will appear. The button combination remains the most broadly documented method, while gesture and S Pen availability depends on the particular device and settings.

Only if the app exposes scrollable content and permits screenshots. Secure apps can block or limit the feature.
