In Python, use page.screenshot(path='page.png', full_page=True). These request a screenshot of the full scrollable page, not just the visible viewport.
Capture the full scrollable page
Playwright describes a full-page screenshot as capturing a full scrollable page as if it were displayed on a very tall screen. The option does not change the page’s content or layout; it asks the screenshot API to capture beyond the current viewport. See the Playwright Screenshots guide.

JavaScript
await page.screenshot({ path: 'page.png', fullPage: true });
Use this after navigating to the page and obtaining a Playwright Page object. For example, inside an existing test or script, this is the capture call:
const page = await browser.newPage();
await page.goto('https://example.com');
await page.screenshot({ path: 'page.png', fullPage: true });
Python
page.screenshot(path='page.png', full_page=True)
Python uses the snake_case argument full_page, while JavaScript uses fullPage.

Manage output size on a very tall page
A full-page capture can be much larger than a viewport screenshot. Playwright’s screenshot API supports scale. Set it to 'css' when you want one output pixel per CSS pixel; the default 'device' scale can create substantially larger images on high-DPI devices. Consult the Page screenshot API reference for the options supported by your installed Playwright version.
await page.screenshot({ path: 'page.png', fullPage: true, scale: 'css' });
Choose CSS scale when manageable image dimensions matter more than retaining device-pixel detail. If you need the higher-resolution output, leave the scale at its default and plan for a larger image file and greater memory use during handling.

Save the image or process its bytes
Set path to save the screenshot directly to a file. If you omit path, the screenshot API can return image bytes instead, which you can pass to another part of your program. Check the API reference for the return behavior and option details for your Playwright version.

Check lazy-loaded content and nested scroll areas
A full-page screenshot requests the full scrollable page; that does not by itself establish that content loaded only after scrolling has been fetched, or that nested scroll containers have been expanded. If the page uses lazy-loaded images or content inside its own scrolling panel, verify that those regions are present before treating the screenshot as a complete record. The official screenshots guide and Page API reference do not promise automatic handling of those page-specific behaviors.

Troubleshoot a failed or incomplete capture
- Only the visible area appears: Confirm that the call uses
fullPage: truein JavaScript orfull_page=Truein Python, and that the code is using the intended Playwright page. - The image is unexpectedly large: Use
scale: 'css'to produce one pixel per CSS pixel rather than using the device-scale default. - Lazy-loaded items are missing: Check whether the target page loads them only after scrolling. The documented full-page option does not guarantee that such content is triggered.
- Content inside a panel is missing: Check whether it belongs to a nested scroll container rather than the main document; the cited API documentation does not promise those containers are expanded.
- The screenshot call times out or an option is unavailable: Check the Page screenshot API reference for the installed Playwright version. It documents a screenshot
timeoutoption, but availability and exact behavior should be confirmed against that version.

ScreenshotNeo provides a website screenshot API and MCP server. A single request can return a PNG, JPEG, WebP or PDF; for a full-page image, use the full_page parameter.
See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for request options. Example cURL request:
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -d full_page=true -o shot.webp
ScreenshotNeo accepts cookie and consent banners before capture and removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups and chat widgets; each of those steps can be turned off. Bot checks and CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads and cache hits are not billed, and response headers identify the page verdict and billing status. Its MCP server provides take_screenshot, get_page_info and capture_pdf tools for AI agents. The Free plan includes 1,000 shots per month without a card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 shots.
