How to Take a Full-Page Screenshot of a Web App on a Budget Windows Laptop

To capture an entire web app page without buying anything, open it in Microsoft Edge, open the browser’s Screenshot tool, and choose Capture full page. Use Windows Snipping Tool instead when you only need what is visible on screen, a window, or a selected region.

Capture the entire webpage in Microsoft Edge

Edge’s built-in Screenshot tool can capture a full webpage or a selected area, then lets you mark up, copy, or save the result. The exact location or wording of the control may vary as Edge changes. Microsoft’s Edge screenshot instructions describe the full-page option.

  1. Open the web app in Microsoft Edge and navigate to the page you want to capture.
  2. Wait for the visible content to finish loading. If the page loads sections or images as you scroll, scroll through the areas you need and let them load before taking the capture.
  3. Open Edge’s Screenshot tool. Find it in the browser controls or menu; its location can change with updates.
  4. Select Capture full page to include content below the current viewport. Choose the selected-area option if you only need part of the page.
  5. Review the capture, add markup if needed, then use Edge’s available copy or save option.

Check the saved image before sharing it. The browser feature is documented for full-page capture, but that does not guarantee every web app, dynamically loaded section, or protected page will render perfectly.

When Windows Snipping Tool is the better choice

Snipping Tool captures the display rather than extending a webpage beyond the screen. Use it for a visible screen, a window, or a region—whether the content is in Edge or elsewhere on the desktop. Microsoft documents the Windows logo key + Shift + S shortcut to open the capture flow, with options to edit, save, and share the snip. Microsoft’s Snipping Tool instructions cover the workflow.

#1 Best Overall
  1. Press Windows logo key + Shift + S.
  2. Choose the capture mode that fits: a region, a window, or the full screen.
  3. Make the capture, then open the resulting snip to edit or save it.

A full-screen snip shows the screen area; it does not capture the rest of a long webpage below the viewport. For that, use Edge’s full-page capture.

Choose the capture method by what you need

Need Use What it captures
The whole long page in a web app Edge Screenshot → Capture full page The webpage beyond the visible viewport
A visible area or browser window Windows Snipping Tool A selected region or window on screen
Everything currently displayed Windows Snipping Tool full-screen mode The current screen, not the entire scrolling webpage

If the full-page image is incomplete

  • Content below the fold is missing: Scroll through the page first and allow lazy-loaded sections or images to appear, then try the Edge capture again. This is a practical workaround, not a guarantee for every app.
  • The page is still loading: Wait for the app to finish rendering before capturing. A screenshot taken while content is loading may not show the final state.
  • You only need one visible section: Use Edge’s selected-area capture or Snipping Tool rather than capturing the entire page.
  • You used full-screen Snipping Tool but got only one screen: That is expected. Switch to Edge’s Capture full page option for a scrolling webpage.
