Capture the entire page in Chrome

Open the web app in Chrome and wait for the content you need to appear. For pages that load more content as you scroll, scroll through the relevant sections first and confirm they have loaded.

Open DevTools. On Mac, the usual shortcut is Option+Command+I; if it does not work in your setup, open developer tools from Chrome’s menus.

In DevTools, click Toggle device toolbar in the action bar.

In the device toolbar, open More options and select Capture a full size screenshot. This is the whole-page command, including off-screen content. Google documents this workflow in its Device Mode guide, last updated February 20, 2024.

Locate the saved image from Chrome’s download indicator or in your configured downloads location. The filename and save location can vary with Chrome and your settings.
Pick the capture that matches what you need

Set a mobile-sized viewport before capture
If you want to capture the web app’s responsive or mobile layout, turn on the Device toolbar and use its Dimensions control to choose a device profile or set a responsive viewport. Then take the full-size screenshot. Device Mode simulates a mobile experience on your Mac; it is not a capture from a physical phone. See Google’s Device Mode documentation.

Capture only an area or an element
Selected area

Open the DevTools Command Menu on Mac with Command+Shift+P.

Type screenshot and choose Capture area screenshot.

Drag over the region to capture.
Google notes that area capture does not work when DevTools is undocked. If you cannot select the region, dock DevTools and try again. See the Command Menu guide, last updated September 4, 2024.

Selected page element
To capture one DOM element rather than the full page, select it in the Elements panel and look for Capture node screenshot in the Command Menu. The command is described in Google’s Chrome 62 DevTools article; because that article is historical, use the menu in your installed Chrome version to confirm the command is available.
Troubleshoot a missing or incomplete screenshot

You got only the visible screen: use Capture a full size screenshot, not Capture screenshot.

The page is missing content that appears after scrolling: let the page finish loading, scroll to the relevant sections to trigger lazy-loaded content, then capture again.

Area selection does not start: dock DevTools; Google documents that area capture does not work when DevTools is undocked.

You cannot find the downloaded file: check Chrome’s download indicator and the download location configured in Chrome. The saved filename and path are not universal.

A command is absent or labeled differently: open the Command Menu and search for screenshot. The documented Device Mode page was updated in February 2024 and the Command Menu page in September 2024, so verify exact wording in your installed version.
