Sign in to the website normally in your browser, open the page you are authorized to view, and use the browser’s built-in full-page screenshot tool. Firefox offers Save full page; Chrome provides Capture a full size screenshot in DevTools. These tools capture the page rendered in your signed-in session—no separate screenshot login or password bypass is needed.
Only capture and share information you are authorized to access and disclose. Check the saved image for missing content and private details before you use or share it.

Take a full-page screenshot in Firefox
- Open the password-protected page and sign in through the site’s normal sign-in flow.
- Open Firefox’s screenshot tool and choose Save full page.
- Download the screenshot or copy it to the clipboard. Mozilla says downloads go to the browser’s default download folder. Mozilla’s Firefox Screenshots help describes the save and copy options.
- Open the resulting image and check that it contains the content you intended to capture.
If the screenshot control is missing
In Developer Tools, open Settings and enable Take a screenshot of the entire page under Available Toolbox Buttons. Firefox’s Web Console :screenshot helper also supports --fullpage, --delay, --filename, and --selector. See Mozilla’s Firefox Source Docs for the documented options.

Take a full-page screenshot in Chrome

- Open the saved image and verify its contents.
Google describes this option as capturing the whole page, including content outside the visible viewport. Follow Chrome’s device mode documentation if your menu differs. Labels can change between versions; the documentation reviewed here does not establish one universal keyboard shortcut for every operating system and browser version.
Firefox or Chrome: which workflow should you use?
| Browser | Where to find full-page capture | Documented output options |
|---|---|---|
| Firefox | Screenshot tool: Save full page; Developer Tools can expose a screenshot button | Save or copy the screenshot |
| Chrome | DevTools device toolbar: More options → Capture a full size screenshot | Full-size screenshot; the cited device-mode documentation does not specify additional output choices |
Both are built-in browser workflows; the cited procedures do not require an extension or paid product. Choose the browser in which you are already signed in and can view the page.

Check the capture before relying on it
- Wait for important content. Dynamic pages can populate after the initial load. Wait until the information you need is visible, capture again if necessary, and inspect the output. Full-page documentation does not promise that every dynamic page structure will render perfectly.
- Check independently scrolling panels. A full-page command may capture the document without capturing every nested scroll area in full. Compare the screenshot with what you saw on screen. If needed, use an authorized element-level capture; Firefox documents a selector option for its console screenshot helper.
- Look for blocked content. An organization can manage screenshot restrictions in Chrome. Google says its restriction applies to screenshots made by any means, including keyboard shortcuts and apps or extensions. A W3C TPAC 2024 presentation describes protected content appearing black in Edge when capture prevention is active. See Google’s Chrome policy help and the W3C TPAC 2024 materials.
- Protect private information. A signed-in page may show names, account details, messages, or other sensitive material. Inspect the image and redact anything unnecessary before sharing it or putting it in a shared location.
If screenshots are blocked
Do not try to defeat a browser, website, or organization restriction. Use the site’s approved export feature, or ask its administrator or support team for an authorized way to obtain the information. A screenshot tool cannot grant access you do not have or override a capture restriction.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
