Samsung Health and Google Fit do not sync directly. On an Android phone, you can share supported records between them through Health Connect: enable the connection in Samsung Health, grant the data permissions you need, then turn on Health Connect sync in Google Fit.
What the connection does—and what it does not
Health Connect acts as the shared data layer between the apps. Samsung Health can share supported records with Health Connect, and Google Fit can access records there when you enable its connection and grant the relevant permissions. Samsung explicitly says the two apps cannot sync directly: Google Fit and Samsung Health data cannot be synced directly, although a Wear OS Galaxy Watch can track data in both apps. The practical distinction is that sharing through Health Connect is possible on Android; a direct app-to-app link is not.

Google documents this Health Connect flow for Android. Availability depends on your phone, region, and installed app versions, so check that Health Connect and the relevant settings appear on your device. Samsung says Health Connect synchronization is available in Samsung Health version 6.22.5 and later, first introduced in October 2022; that historical feature floor does not guarantee that every device can install a current version. How to connect Samsung Health and Google Fit
- Check the apps. On your Android phone, install or update Samsung Health, Google Fit, and Health Connect if it is not already available as a system service. You may also be able to open Health Connect from Android Settings. Google’s documented setup is Android-only. Google Fit Health Connect instructions
- Enable sharing in Samsung Health. Open Samsung Health and go to Settings → Health Connect. If prompted, tap Get started. Select the categories you want to share and allow the requested access. - Enable Health Connect in Google Fit. Open Google Fit and go to Profile → Settings → Health Connect settings. Turn on Sync Fit with Health Connect. Fit can then access or edit the Health Connect records for which it has permission. Google Fit: connect Health Connect
- Review access. Check the connected apps and permitted record types in Health Connect. You can also manage the connection through Google Fit’s Health Connect settings. Make sure the specific categories you want are allowed on both sides.
- Let the source app update. If the records come from a Galaxy Watch, the watch first transfers them to Samsung Health on the phone. They cannot continue through Health Connect until that phone-side sync occurs.
Menu names can vary by Android release, device, app version, or language. If the exact path differs, look for Health Connect under Samsung Health settings and Google Fit settings rather than following screenshots from an older release.

Which data can appear in Google Fit?
Samsung lists activity data—including steps and exercise—heart rate, and sleep among the categories that can synchronize with Health Connect. Its technical guide also describes possible record types such as blood glucose, oxygen saturation, blood pressure, exercise sessions and calories, distance, power, speed, and VO2 max. These are possible supported categories, not a promise that every Samsung Health version, account, or Google Fit setup exposes every metric. A difference between the apps does not automatically mean the connection is broken. Check which app wrote the record, which direction and category permissions allow, whether both apps support that record type, and how each app displays it. Samsung describes synchronization between Samsung Health and Health Connect in both directions; Google Fit’s documentation describes Fit accessing permitted records in Health Connect.

Why Samsung Health steps or other records may be missing
- Samsung Health is absent from Health Connect, or has no records there. Update Samsung Health, then open Samsung Health → Settings → Health Connect → App permissions and enable the categories you need. If you granted permissions from Android Settings, launch Samsung Health afterward. Samsung troubleshooting and permissions
- Google Fit shows no shared records. Confirm that Sync Fit with Health Connect is on in Google Fit and that the relevant record types are allowed in Health Connect. Disconnecting Health Connect stops Fit from accessing or editing those records. Google Fit connection settings
- Records are out of date. In Samsung Health, go to Settings → Sync with Samsung account → Sync now. Also open Samsung Health so the watch can transfer its records to the phone.
- Only some metrics appear. Check permissions for each category and whether it is supported by both apps. Samsung notes that available synchronized data can vary by Samsung Health version.
- A Galaxy Watch metric is delayed. The record must first reach Samsung Health on the phone. Transfer timing and frequency depend on Samsung’s synchronization policy; continuous heart-rate records may be delayed to conserve battery. Samsung synchronization details
Can Google Fit run on a Galaxy Watch instead?
Samsung says Google Fit trackers can run on supported Wear OS Galaxy Watch models, including Watch4, Watch5, and Watch6 in its cited support material. That is a separate option: using Fit on the watch does not import Samsung Health records directly into Google Fit. The same support page says earlier Galaxy Watch models running Tizen are incompatible with those Google Fit trackers. Check current model support before relying on this route.
